    Lucky me! I've been studying English, so I needed channels like podcasts with subtitles. Someone on another channel mentioned studying with your channel, so I visited yours, it's been really helpful! Your speaking speed suits me perfectly.     Get a little bit confused, the definition of "chip away at" is making something less effective according to the Longmen dictionary. Maybe using tinkering to run below 3 hours is much better?

      Great question! "Chip away at" means to gradually make something smaller or weaker (dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/chip-away-at). In my case, as I try to break my marathon record, "chip away at" is a more suitable choice than "tinker" because it communicates my goal of steadily reducing my marathon time. Using "tinker" would suggest that I am experimenting with small adjustments in my training methods, shoes, strategy, or something like that. Hope this helps!
