To me "It's deje vu all over again" when I re-experience a performance by Angelina Jordan that I have seen 20, or more times. I react the same way as I did with the first viewing, I tear up, I have to tell myself to breath, and I feel euphoric no one else on earth does this to me by singing.
I am so often amazed by her courage - it would be nerve-wracking for a seasoned professional to do song acapella in such a setting - yet this little girl seems completely in her element. Also, her courage can be seen on other occasions when she takes iconic songs (like Bohemian Rhapsody, I have nothing) which many are afraid to even attempt - she takes it and say this is my song now.
While Angelina certainly owns a lot of songs written by others, I think she is so humble that, like in one TikTok video when she says “now, let’s give this a try”, she is thinking, ‘I wonder how it would sound if sung this way?’ It just so happens that her ‘tries’ sound better than everyone else’s finished work.

Thanks, Britt! There is no truth to the matter that half of the contestants left the talent show after they heard Angelina sing. And, that poor young girl in the red dress who had to follow that. I wonder if there is a clip of her stepping up to the mic and perhaps having a chat with the judges before she started to sing. I can’t believe it took you so long to react to this performance, I thought you reacted to the video with all her Norway’s Got Talent performances. Yes, her initial audition with “Gloomy Sunday” was eye opening, but this performance was so above anything else they would hear, that this is when they started to pay very close attention to her, and Omar, the young judge, said that after this performance he, and the other judges, observed her rehearsals and witnessed her also arranging her performances and directing the musicians as to how she wanted them to accompany her, and that’s when they knew she was a prodigy. Of all the performances of Angelina at this age, this is my favorite followed closely by “What a Difference a Day Makes” which she performed shortly after she won NGT, and they still are two of her best to date. She also performed this song in a cameo performance on the TV series Lillehammer when she was still 8 years old. I still can’t believe what I’m hearing when I listen to her perform this song a cappella, and I’m a huge Billie Holiday fan!

Yeah..the incongruent thing is that Angelina is 8yo in people years here but in artistry years she is already like 35yo! And the other staggering thing is that she never rushes (if you're ever gonna rush it would be in this a cappella setting -- to get out of the intense spotlight quicker!). My ears are a little messed up so can't hear some of the things people say in their comments and yours Britt but this much I can tell, her voice is the instrument, so that when she sings its not just a person singing but her singing and instruments as she sings, her voice fills the space, let me try putting it another way if I can, Angelina is just using her voice but as she sings I can her music but it is just her singing acapella, that's the best I can say it 🌹🌹
