Whether Universal salvation or reconciliation is true or not, I don't think I could ever stop believing in it. With gladness and great hope, I will lock it up inside my heart until the day I die.

Me too, I believe God will not send the common man and woman to hell. Humans are easily deceived and since that's the case are brainwashed, "for God so loved the world", not the Christians, Christians didn't exist but the WORLD, His divine creation, all humans. If I was father and I had children, idc what they've done I could never send them to place where they burn and burn for eternity, I don't have the heart to do something like that and God's heart is my heart x infinity, a number humans can even begin to perceive. God's love has it's own color and its own smell, our love can only be expressed through our actions.

The fairy story analogy of Tolkien that Andrew mentions around 42.30 is about as perfect as one can get (speaking as a Tolkien fan as well).

I just want to reiterate my frustration with the way that Craig dismisses serious authors on this topic. It’s an unbecoming blindsight for an otherwise brilliant scholar who should and does know better. Worse still, he often is insulting in the process.

Been thinking about this topic for a while now and have some of the same thoughts about Universalism as this author seems to say.

    Great show thank you!
Annihilation doesn’t work simply because we are body, spirit and soul. You will not find one passage in The Bible that supports death of the spirit.
Would love to get Andrew’s take on the book Irrevocable by Max King

The Bible teaches we are a living body, a body animated by spirit or breath (nephesh).

@@Mrm1985100 yes and it also teaches the spirit is just as much a part of who we are as the body and soul and the spirit is unique to each individual:
      1 Thessalonians 5:23 (ESV)
Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
      Zechariah 12:1 (ESV)

God is sovereign, some vessels of honor and some dishonor, but works for the good of all man. Read genesis 50:20

Only Jesus offers eternal life, so how could anyone live forever without receiving this gift? This is what universalism doesn’t answer. It presupposes all people are eternal

Has anyone ever handed you a beautifully wrapped gift with something beautiful inside that you couldn't take your eyes off from it, then said, "Na, I'm good!"? I can't even think of time I had received a gift from someone that I ever turned down, even the ones that didn't seem that appealing, let alone something that is from God himself! I'm not so certain anyone could decline that! If bees were more drawn to vinegar over honey, for instance, then maybe, but that would be quite a stretch.
I really do believe that all means all!
1 Timothy 2:4 says: Who will have ALL men (and women) to be saved and to come unto the knowledge of the truth!
Just some food for thought! Jesus didn't follow the crowd (the traditionalists of Western religion today) so why should we!?

    • @jordant3604

It suggests all people are eternal ONLY because Jesus has given everyone that gift.

    • @jasonegeland1446
      @jasonegeland1446 ปีที่แล้ว +12

He doesn't "offer" it. He GIVES it.
His atonement isn't something we have to believe for it to be true. He checkmated death for us. Our opinions or anything we do will never change this fact.

They eventually do receive this gift.

    • @jasonegeland1446

Actually, no it doesn't. The most basic definition in modern English is 'without beginning or end', but in Greek, it's the word Aionios meaning 'an age' or 'age lasting', and in Hebrew it was the word 'olam', a quality that describes God or something that belongs to God (i.e. God is eternal, all is of God, etc.). It's not a presupposition as you've said.
