hahahaha these guys are hilarious. I went to a Sydney highschool with an abnormally high level of guys who became cops, and it can cut both ways. One let me off for tail lights, another tried to get me done for software piracy. True story.
What are you in for? Kazaa, Bearshare, Napster, filesharing services, torrents? Nah he just saw "not legit version" of windows in the bottom corner and started yelling "GET DOWN ON THE GROUND NOW!"
this is on the money for rural cops in Australia, me an 9 mates were down there from the UK/Ireland driving combine harvesters, when we were at one spot the pub/road hotel was a few kms away up a dirt road, like nothing else, just a pub at a crossroads. The local cop had a yarn to us, along the lines off "I don't care how drunk you get and drive, but follow the rules, drive under the speed limit, lights on, indicate, seatbelts etc. If I catch you breaking any other rules I'll throw the book at you" So that's what we did, and it was fine, just slowly amble up the road blind drunk.
Very accurate- especially speeding , my mother went from growing up in the country without a single speeding ticket THEN moves to the city in her 60s and BAM two speeding tickets within the first three years of living in the city and now she literally drives like a grandma because she doesn’t want to get another speeding ticket . Fun fact - she was over 3 the speed limit both times.
It’s honestly pretty similar around here. In this part of Texas. I saw a sheriff pass me while I was on my phone with no seatbelt way past the stop sign towing a trailer with no plates didn’t even bat an eye.
A true story btw, and it did happen in the australian outback. A man picked up hitchiking backpackers along a stretch of highway in New South Wales, he killed at least seven people this way in the 80s and 90s.

Sooo true, my cousin and his friend were speeding down a country road try to see how fast they could get their corvette going and the cops didn’t care But then I’m in the city and the guy next to me gets pulled over despite going 2 under the speed limit
This applies to the United States as well. Moved out to my grandfather's farm, local cop was named "Moose", didn't give a single F as long as you weren't harming anyone else.

I worked on a farm in Queensland. A coworker crossed the hwy to reach the other side of the farm. He didn't wear the seatbelt. A police car passed at the moment and saw the missing seatbelt. I think it was a 300 or 400 dollar fine.
