    We asked four #AsianAustralians to respond to common questions and tell us if they believed it was racist and if so, why.

      Exactly, there are many Australian Vietnamese who have successfully assimilated into Australia and speak with a local Accent and they are almost never represented in the media! It’s sad seeing the ABC use new migrants of ethnic Chinese descent with thick accents to work as news presenters and represent Asians when there are loads of local Australian Asian people who were born and bred here! This misrepresentation in the media is damaging as white people see Asian Australians as perpetual foreigners!

      When an Aussie white male, young bloke, asked me for money on the streets of Melb, I said no, unfortunately I dont bring cash.. sorry” and then he called me fucking Asian, calling Ha Gao and Dim Sum, Siu may. And I turned and got back the same thing as him and we ( Im a woman and he is a bloke obviously 🙄) squabbled all the way around Southbank until my boyfriend decided to said stop me.
      Today whilst waiting in the bank, the white Aussie woman called me stupid fucking Asian, with no brain and she also called me a c . . t ( I know you all know what word is that) because she thought i cut her queue, in which of course I did NOT cut and tried to explain politely but firmly but she kept rattling on.
      I then made a point to her : “ what’s wrong with being an Asian ? Whats got to do with queue ? And I said “ you are racist and watch your mouth” .
      I dont care if the bank’s camera was there. I faced racism in Australia like i face racism back in Indonesia.
      I am not Australian born but basically i have lived more than half of my life here. I pay my tax every year correctly and diligently. I contribute to society, i dont use centrelink at all. To be called like that is not only disgusting but I want to puke 🤮 From the country I was born, damn if I am Chinese.

    Texas and Florida proposed to ban Chinese citizens from purchasing real property in the States. It is a symbol of the 21st-century Chinese Exclusion Act. It has nothing to do with Chinese. It has to do with the fact that people who ARE NOT citizens (and are usually wealthy [enough to purchase said property]) are contributing to the increasing property rates. Even more infuriating when they are purely used as assets and are vacant. Don't get me wrong the US is MESSED UP in so many ways other than what you mentioned that causes the housing shortage, but to say that foreign investment isn't a contributing factor is equally as false as if I were to say that there are no domestic reasons.

    The question: Your English is good.....It gets me all the time. I'm Italian first Australian citizen by default. That question has been shot across at me too, in a context of a bullshit self-important office, managed by a pronounceable; Wilson, Jones, Collins, with a very weak anglophile superiority complex. The people that state that question are mostly under educated and have been indoctrinated with a bigotry principle, 'only Anglo-Saxons speak good English'.
    I undertook all my studies in Australia, from P1 to University. Aside from the fact I and my siblings schooling was interrupted, we returned to Italy for a couple of years, our spoken English is on par colloquial Australian. Anglo-saxons that have never travelled don't know there is a big world beyond North of Darwin. DUH!
    Yellow fever...gosh. My son is half Korean and he is beautiful! Italian and S. Korean. No, I have never thought Asian women are submissive, or kow tow. Certainly not the ones I have met past or present. They are more effeminate than Anglo-Australians, but not submissive! Ha ha.
    As a whitey Italian I never heard of Yellow Fever until the advent of You Tube..ha ha. There are individuals with a predilection for a certain appearance in a woman, right? I don't find blonde and blue eyed particularly appealing. Dark hair, hazel eyes or Asian eyes is sub-consciously appealing in my eyes (and mind). Skin pigmentation, does that matter? I don't know....Yes I do have Asian male friends...anyway, good video peeps!

    • @thehanghoul
      @thehanghoul 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Good question. Well, I’d say context is key here too.
      The main reason why Asian accents are taken as a mocking gesture is because historically, through film, tv, and whatever, they’ve been depicted in a negative way.
      Not to mention not all asian accents are the same.
      The asian accent done by most westerners anyways is the “Ching Chong” stereotype, which isn’t how any asians really talk.
      Don’t get me wrong, we should laugh as much as we can at each other. It’s just asian accents are so poorly done that it’s just cringe at this point.
      Now if you can pull off a damn good Korean English accent, or a mandarin English accent, power to you! It’s all about how authentic it comes across. Hope that helps.

    • @andyandys5356
      @andyandys5356 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Some of this seems a little dated. Growing up in Sydney in the 70s, there weren't a lot of Asian kids at our school but most Anglo-Australians under 40 will have gone to school with people from every corner of the planet. Country towns can be insular, but our cities have thousands of Asian-Australians with Aussie accents. And FWIW, every Asian country I've been to has a long history of dissing their neighbours - it's just more subtle than some of the boofheads here. Whether Australians like it or not, our pollies are looking to India for young, educated taxpayers (!) to support our aging population - hopefully Pauline Hanson will be dead before that starts to take effect.

    The intention is EVERYTHING. Ignorance is not racism. Racism is when 1 race thinks they are superior to another.

      Sometimes people laugh only try to test how you react, they just a bored lazy non productive people and don't have better thing to do. It will shut them up if You just proud of who you are and said "stupid people" and to laugh them back with your friend very hard.

    📖✝️🙏❤💌💞❤❤💌💖😭 Dear Heavenly Father God, I know that I am a sinner and I ask you to please forgive my sins. I believe in my heart that Jesus is your Son; that He died for me on a cross and you raised him up. Jesus, I declare you my Lord and I open my heart to you.

    How utterly wrong can you all be about whites dating only asians?! That's a personal preference born by attraction to a certain look or trait (like some black men liking fat butt's on women). You're assuming that white men want power over a meek asian woman (so you yourselves are branding your women as weak!) and are so blinded by you're own stereotypes of white people, you've deemed it impossible that attraction to their look and personalty is what they're after and not a meek little housemaid..

      Yikes, the amount of stereotypes you've perpetuated in this comment alone.....You're proving everyone's points.

      Agree. I generally prefer to data Asian women because I prefer their femininity, family values and appearance. Does that make me racist? Not to any sane person.

      @@scanspeak00They aren't feminine lol. They have the most aggressive tempers of all women. Masculine flat bodies compared to white and black women. They look like yoda when they age and most that get westernised do not have strong family values and have mental issues. I've dated all races, even indigenous women. Speaking generally of course, but if I were a non-Asian dude, I would stick with my own or avoid asian women.
