@@devastater97 You make it seem like the gm was a bad mobile suit, News flash it wasn’t. And on top of that the gm ll was an overhauled gm with somewhat newer parts. Spec wise the gm and gm ll are reliable and great suits.
People complaining about the GM not being that bad but for GM II in the Gryps War era, they ARE that bad. They're basically the original l RGM-79, NOT THE LATE TYPE OR TYPE C, that were retrofitted with "partial upgrades" that bare did anything. The GM custom is a better unit because it was a New MS made for Ace Pilots but the GM II is just outdated tech with a new paint job. Its like grabbing a Sherman and give it a few upgrades and then saying it can go up against an Abrams. Why keep using it? Because what else are they going to use?

ザクやリックドムを使うジオン残党相手なら十分な性能
パイロットも機動戦ができてUCトリントン守備隊とは比べ物にならない練度は有り
ただ、シャアが手下連れで最新鋭機でやって来るのは流石に想定外だった……
