I’ve been a nurse for 7 years now and I always tell anyone I train take care of you this job will keep going this hospital will keep running with or without you so don’t kill yourself trying to do all the overtime, doing diff shifts having your sleep off balance, and the biggest one don’t come to work when your ill 🤧 you can’t help someone when you’re not at your best. Use your pto and use your sick time because these hospitals don’t care.

Yes, but if you have mortgage, car payment, student loan I have to pick up extra shifts. I don’t have help from my family, they are needed for help (

I really love your transparency. I am in the interview process as a New grad and nervous of being overwhelmed. I appreciate the raw footage and showing that it is okay to feel your feelings. You are admired, keep going girl 💕

Hello everyone, I’ve just started working as a new CNA and I’m a full time student. Working towards my goal of becoming an RN. I see a lot of nurses and CNA’s mentally and physically drained. But it’s because they’re taking on so much responsibility by picking up shifts and working extra hours that you don’t need to. When I started working I told myself “Nope” you can’t stay overtime and you can’t pick up shifts. I need to take care of “me” first. Money comes and goes. I only have one body. And I want to be my best at work for the people that I’m caring for. ❤😊

I watch all of your videos Siera and as a new grad (5 months along!) I 100% understand your perspective & also relate so hard! I’ve been forcing myself to do the same”good” things since our shifts are so long and draining. So thank you for being so vulnerable and speaking on what all of us are feeling! You’re the best

Love the transparency! As a new nurse of just 1 year. I’ve found myself surprisingly coping well with the sad and hard things we see however I am not doing well at coping to how nurses in my floor are treated by the doctors. Nurses getting berated and yelled at or put down often times leading to the nurses breaking down. I wonder if this is how it is in the hospital setting or just my floor !? 😩 it’s emotionally draining !

I appreciate your willingness to being trained on the IVs. My dad was in critical condition and had been pricked everywhere with no success. We had to wait for a special tech to come up and do a guided ultrasound and it took forever. I was so afraid I was going to lose him-he has Leukemia, which fortunately is being controlled by daily medicine as of now.

I’ve been a nurse 33 years..in the early years, for me it was realization I was never going to have a normal life due to the conditions of working as a nurse… working holidays, weekends, limited relationships because of stress and need to rest on days off … it’s a tough calling 👩‍⚕️

I began my career at 17 I am 57 and I will say this pace yourself take your vacations enjoy the journey of your entire life each moment spend time with nature and get further education when you are young. Keep your mentors part of your life. I have done so my whole life. They are my biggest cheer leaders and my favorite people besides my family. You are doing wonderful it is a hard profession but rest and saying no are the best advice this older nurse who works away from the bedside can share with you 😊

No one tells you that you dont really clock out from this job.
When you leave you think about the pts. " did I document those vital signs, did I doc the bladder scan. Should I held that med? You hear the beeping of the machines when you sleep.
    Real PTSD.

Sierra the weakest link is the person who does not ask for help or do not know something. I oriented over 500 kids in my lifetime. I loved doing it but those who scared me were those who tried to cover up what they did not know, or reach out for help. Human beings are vulnerable when we are caring for them. I feel like you but I had to get mental health help. Thats what I eventually needed because its also my own human experiences that play into all of it. Big hugs

Sorry you’re struggling, Sierra! But I know this may not be a good solution however have you ever considered becoming a travel nurse? Sometimes a new environment new city and place can brighten your mood and I think they stay 3 months then relocate to a new location! I think it would be cool to live in Hawaii or NYC or LA that would definitely be a mood lifter😊plus room and board expenses are paid for so that’s a plus! You should check into that also I think Camper would appreciate a change of scenery😌can you imagine if you relocated to Miami and all those walks on the beach with Camper by the ocean🥰

Trauma therapist here...if you can find a good therapist who is trained in EMDR, it can be a game changer. Please take care of yourself. Humans were not designed to the chronic exposure of the things that you all see.
