I agree. A real disappointment. A big step down in build quality (and to be fair cost too) and no navigation. I wish they had made a GPR-B2000 instead. I would willingly pay £800 to £1000 for it. It should not require a phone to work and MUST have Multiband 6.

I have the new gpr-h1000 Rangeman too and I do not connect mine to Bluetooth either. I have mine on airplane mode 24/7 and the battery is at 4 bars. I initially received the watch brand new from Japan with 5, but it dropped 1 bar when I set the watch up and played around with its functions for an hour or more on the first day that I got it. It’s still on 4 bars today. I wear it outside in the sun for a few hours every day. The battery life bar has not gone up to 5 bars yet. I’ve been wearing it for almost 1 week now. It will hopefully go up another 1 bar to 5 bars with the exposure that I give it to the sun while wearing it on my wrist.

I have my GWG1000 1A3 JM because I can see it, and the watch doesn't need any help, or phone to work, but I'm hitting 71, and those sensors on the GPR H1000 seem like a wise investment at this point in my life, and the watch seems easy to see, and operate, unlike those rectangle smart watches that seem very complicated, and as fragile as a puff of smoke. Well, what can you say about the toughness, and looks of a G-Shock. Like no other. Outstanding. I think I NEED one. I can't see myself wearing a smart watch, if there's a G-Shock.
Great video, so the conclusion is correct, this is not a rangeman. The new GW-9500 mudman is also a good rangeman, and a protrek. You cannot tell anymore which one it is. Last week I was searching for some tools, and I find my more than 10 years old G-9000 mudman in a toolbox. I never thought of it, it was missing for years. Battery was dead and I was curious to see if it's working with the new battery. I was lucky, the old one doesn't leaked, and I have this watch on my wrist now. The dual electroluminescence illuminator is great. Lot of memories. Now this was a proper mudman with the covered buttons. The new rangeman? I don't know what it is.

I ordered the GPR H1000 again, as the week I owned one, I realised what a great watch it was. The Garmin Instinct 2 Solar is a great watch in its own sense, but if you don't need all that Garmin have to offer, and are looking for a good looking, comfortable watch that you can wear all day and night. I'd say go for it. G Shock has a great range of options, and this is one of them. If this is your only daily driver, then the Garmin Instinct is also a good option, but I'm going to stay with this, as it's a good looking and comfortable watch, with enough features. It should be a replacement for the GBD-H2000 I think. G Shock have their followers, and this is a good watch that fits in the line so long as you accept it for what it is.
