I really miss these long races Matt. I loved watching the complexion of the race evolve and the whole pit strategy thing was always excellent. A shame I don't see races that require pits from you anymore.
I actually raced in the 1985 12 Hours of Sebring. The sim is really good, but there are two things it does not have that impressed me during the race. Both would add to the realism. First there are bits of tire rubber bouncing around and flying by your car, and your headlights pick them up really well at night. (Looks like your driving in a light snow storm). Second when a car is behind you, the powerfull headlights in your rearview mirror almost burn your eyeballs out. Great job driving, always enjoy your videos..
I would have spun that first for cutting me up the second time because of the amount of track to his right and he would have no one to blame but himself. I also have to thank you for all the advice you have given it has helped my break barriers and get quicker than I thought I could ever get many thanks
Love your vid's and racing! Keep it going. If I may, it seems in this race and on this track and your car setup, seems that the car is pushing a bit too much keeping you from hitting the apex's and you having to let up at the apex when you could be at the beginning of your acceleration point... I could be wrong just an observation and thought. Thanks Again!
Hi Empty! One question: How is the ping and therefore the experience of iracing for an european (Austria, no not australia ;-). Think of getting a license as they are 50% off atm but if i have a bad ping all the time... Thank you very much! BTW your videos and especially your "What´s going on guys" is epic ;-)
longest gaming vid I've ever watch but easily 1 of the most dynamic fun to watch experiences.... don't know how u can casually chatter away in such a technical race, props sir! I was painfully laughing when that 22 ford gt made it's final detrimental appearance lol btw what platform is this on, console or pc? looks really impressive B-)
Just to ask, is the T500 a good set for a beginner? Been watching your videos and I'm already hooked on simracing even though I haven't got the set yet or even iRacing. Been playing Assetto Corsa on xbox controller just for fun.
hey matt! love your driving, great entertainment i think. got a quick question for ya, how do you get the gear/steering/brake/throttle box in replays? or is it only their because you record live? cheers
If I didn't record live I'd have to go back and record the whole thing a second time then crop out the pedals and overlay them into the video, lot easier to do it live and have it all done once. :)
MM Not just aggressive, he has the nerve to complain about a driver in front of him using the ideal line. Seriously, if you can't predict an opponents line fairly accurately, you don't belong on a race track...
I haven't played many popular Sims however, I can't help but feel that your corner entry speed is sometimes way too fast and that you should ease off the brakes and turn into corners earlier. Either way I still love every video you make, cheers!
Matt, have you downloaded Fanatec's new V200/53 firmware at all? Any opinions on it so far - changes to the in-game settings for iRacing, AC, rf2 etc thus far you'd recommend?
I'm running the same settings as usual in iR and rF2, FOR 100 everything else off. Feels similar, bit "softer" in iRacing. Seems like the FFB rolls in with less force behind it though it's putting out the same force. Haven't done enough testing in the others to really make a judgement, I had some issues updating my firmware so it took some time getting back up.
Empty Box For me the new firmware seems to have reduced the size of the deadzone of my CSW. David Tucker was surprised that the first Step2 test of the wheel check utility recommended a min force of around 22. After a few months of use, another test recommended 12, and while the new firmware still has it at 12, I get a little bit more feedback from the cars, especially the Z4 (which previously felt like it had almost no FFB other than big bumps and slides)
Having driven the HPD, DP, F GT and C-Spec, which one do you enjoy the most? (in therms of the driving as well as the racing) Thinking about racing that series next season
Ehhh.... The Ford GT season I did was hands down easily the best season I've had in iRacing. That car was so much fun, the competition was fierce yet fairly friendly, managing traffic is just as important and IMO harder than in the prototypes... But the CSpec is a fun car to drive, I think if it had a real cockpit and exterior model I'd prefer it but I guess I'd have to say the Ford because of it. IDK though. The HPD is fun for the "PASS ALL OF DA THINGS!!!" feel, but I don't particularly like the car a whole lot anymore. The DP is fugly as sin and a 5 speed gearbox is weird to get reacquainted to. I already go for a 7th gear half the time down the straight. LOL The Ford needs more participation to get it back to where it was, with low participation it's dreadful as you turn into nothing more than a nuisance, rather than being what controls the flow of the race. Same applies to the CSpec when it comes around next season to this mix, though I think it should have stronger participation than the Ford which should help bring the races more GT controlled than Prototype controlled. IMO, if a race is Proto heavy, it turns into a divebomb fest mess for GT driving, but if it's GT heavy the Protos are more cautious and less stupid. That's really the big question in this series IMO, which influences my choices heavily. lol
Empty Box EB why is the C-spec fun for you? For me, the car is very difficult to drive. The braking and the grip of the tires are difficult to understand in that car. Am I missing something about the C-Spec?
Be nice if there was a "flashy-flashy-flashy" (31:07) function for headlights in P/GT night races within iRacing, much like that used in the LeMans series. Would certainly make it easier for many GT drivers to know that a faster proto is going to catch them in the curves.
Nice race man =D Can you explain to me what the "Car Contact (0x) Total 6/17x" mean?? I had never played iRacing so i just want to know what this means... same with the Off Track, Thanks and keep it up with the great videos!!
You have a maximum of 17 penalty points, 1x is for an off track, 0x 2x 4x are contact penalties depending on how hard the contact is, you can also get a 2x for loss of control(losing control of your Car). The system stops people crashing and cheating. If you get 17/17x then you are disqualified
iRacing has a safety rating system, it basically determines your progression so you can run the higher class cars. When you see a green line at the top pop up, there was an incident. Car Contact (0x) means there was a light contact worth 0 incident points. Largely just a warning so you know you have contacted the guy in case of netcode. Off Track (1x) means that half the car is off the course, determined by the preset track limits and the centerline of the car. 1 incident point. Loss of Control (2x) means you have exceeded 90 degrees to the direction of traffic, in other words - spun. 2 incident points. Car Contact (4x) means you hit another car hard enough to count for 4 incident points. If you make contact, even a 0x, if the other guy spins or hits something you also get his incident points. It's a no fault system, it doesnt care who or what caused it which is important to understand. Total 6/17x is the running total, if you acquire 17 incident points in one race, you are automatically DQ'd. That part is a new rule from last season I think, and frankly it's stupid. But now you know!
Empty Box Hey Matt, sorry for asking you again but... here i go. Do you know anything about this? -> fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpa1/t1.0-9/532910_10151591754181085_1033062261_n.jpg I saw it on iRacing facebook page in 2013 and they posted it there asking if someone know anything about it,so I'm here asking if you know something about, if they posted anything on the iRacing forums, because since they posted it, I never saw any notice about this wheel. I thought that it's from a Kart but really don't know... Thank again man!
Its amazing to me how few people dont understand that they should hold their normal line so that you know what they are going to and instead they try and get out of the way and screw things up. just race
because a lot of people got rearended somewhere in the past while holding their racing line and start to panic now when a HPD suddenly shows up in their mirrors. I was in this race as well, the FGT #13. When I got lapped for the 3rd time, at around the 45:00 mark, during the race I thought I was being clear with my intentions, but here it looks like I was hesitating. It's just not as simple as "keep your line" although that should be your first rule to fall back to.
Does anyone have any tips for when your right in behind someone and you come to a corner and you have the fear of ramming them up the rear. I find myself braking early just to give myself some more room but this opens me up for attacks from behind and also someone ramming me up the rear.
If you practice the track and know the brakeing times for each corner you can predict when that person is going to stop and with experience your reflexes will improve and then you'll be able to react to the brakeing
Matt what happened in the GT3 race you joined yesterday at 24:00 GMT? You started 8th I believe. The one in which some one (me lol) said something like "I'm on pole and Matt is in this race probably recording, no pressure at all"
I think that is the one I updated my wheel firmware, joined with a non centered wheel, quickly looked up a tut on recentering it, and joined the grid with 3 seconds to spare. FFB changed slightly, managed to spin in T2 twice, called it quits and went back for some practice with the updated firmware. :| Probably not my wisest race to enter, but YOLO I guess.
Serban Alexander Manea Yea, using the CSW. Took longer to update the FW than expected, I wanted to get some practice in with it but by the time it updated I was already on the hook for the SR / iR loss, so I didn't have much choice. :(
DiscGolfer947 Yes, sadly. Yet another freaking GT3 car that won't be used while splitting participation in a car that doesn't need it. Stupid, stupid decision by iRacing.
Wasn't just you. I'm that guy who magically pulls a second out his bum when there is something to chase down at the end of the race even though I have not a clue what I do differently. LOL
Oh cool this track has runway style lighting at the sides! I can't wait to work my way up through the rookie ranks and drive this car, it's like amazing, so much downforce and grip! EDIT: Whats really annoying is that when you say SR doesn't matter (and it doesn't. Personally I don't think it's effective at all at stopping dickish drivers or things like that) early on so much depends on SR. I am scared to race guys because I don't know if they will take me out or not. As you said assume everyone is an idiot until proven otherwise
+George Day Just get out of the rookie series, and everything will be ok, dont worry to much about the rating, to improve is to push the limit, if you chicken race you wont know what to do when you are racing with decent guys wheel to wheel :P
2:01 "it is 70 minutes long" hm, must have said 17 and i misheard him. **checks video length** **clicks watch later** **continues watching for another 5 minutes** "ooh, real life srf!"
Not all of them right now, a few of them though. It's been like that for a while, though it's been postponed in favor of getting day night transitions working rather than night versions of tracks.
Empty Box day/night transitions? I am going to get super pissed off when i get blinded by the sunset. night racing looks mint, i havent noticed it on any of the races ive been eligible for but I am still racing mazdas for the most part, I just got my D license recently.
So I want 1080p, are your specs the limitation here? Start donations to get the specs for it ;) I'd donate $100 straight off the bat. Your videos help me get through boring days at work (like now while I have to wait forever to upload something)
He's the crew chef? So he makes all the food for the hungry crew? Does the driver ever eat sandwiches in the middle of a race? If so, does he eat turkey, ham, or pastrami?
BlakePlays no no, he's the CROW chef. He makes food for the crows and throws it outside of the raceway so they don't get hit by the cars, he's a huge part of the team and we all love him.
Pretty much a waste of time, guy cut through T3, car checked up in front of me and I had nowhere to go. Was way down on straight line speed to the point of not passing Corvettes in a straight line and the car handled like crap.
what I racing Should do to attract more people to the sim is do what Rfactor or Asseto corsa does. buy once don't need To keep on giving away money. I understand its for people who know how to drive without Aids But surly it will give them alot if not Enough money
I love it how he looks at the gt driver in he corvette and reads how bad he is driving seriously those in the corvette it is not nascar it a get car drive it the way it was supposed to be used
Sorry about the getting in your way at the 1:00:24 mark. In my defense and from my rearview, you had just as hard of a time picking a lane: th-cam.com/video/u-kPjaTp1MQ/w-d-xo.htmlh11s. That's racing, good result, Matt.
Oh god yes. And people telling you where to pass, it really screws you over some times because they call out pass left! and mash the brakes way early and you weren't expecting to pass them in that corner, but now you have no choice and the whole thing is compromised.
I don't think you had to slow down that much for the slow-down penalty. If you slow down just a bit, you go slower over the entire straightaway which (I believe) should be enough to clear the penalty before turn 17.
Late answer - but yes. If they didn't, you would have jackasses who deliberately knock them all down on the pacelap so anyone using them as a marker gets shafted. If you tried Sebring in iRacing before the new pitwall, you will remember the string of cones. You would NEVER run them over in real life, but some people would pile all through them like a mad man and clear out the pile. Easier for them to reappear than to put more stress on the protest system.
16:07 Sorry buddy, but you couldn't possibly be any more incorrect about this. Overall wins are absolutely _not_ something that "the TV guys" just made up out of thin air. Racers, Manufacturers, and hell, even pit-crew members are all human beings-- and highly competitive ones at that. They *absolutely* care about overall wins. I take it you're only a sim-racer and don't drive a race car in the real world (which, to be clear, I don't mean as any kind of insult). Because if you _were_ a real world driver, you'd know that we basically can't go to any race event without being asked a half-dozen times throughout the weekend "How many overall wins ya got, bro?"_
wow you hate the blue and green car why you hit him when he suddenly went sideways in front of you? not saying you caused it probably the first driver white and red car did the teenager and hit him. but what was the point of hitting the car?
Ever hear of a thing called "braking distance"? You can even see me hit the brakes, but there is no way to avoid a car perpendicular to the flow of traffic 20 feet in front of you while doing 115 MPH. If I swing right I go right back into the flow of traffic going much faster than I am at that stage and cause an accident similar to the one that happened in the Sebring 12 Hours this year with the Ferrari.
Empty Box ok so bad brakes than thank you did the heartless guy that decided to slam into the blue and green car say why he was so heartless? just one of those rude racers that decided that he was afraid you were going to pass him that guy should of been kicked out for life really
I really miss these long races Matt. I loved watching the complexion of the race evolve and the whole pit strategy thing was always excellent. A shame I don't see races that require pits from you anymore.
BollocksUtwat Just not enough time in the day man... Plus lack of motivation anymore really.
Empty Box awesomo race!!
Wow that's so cool, a real race car driver. What car did you drive?
Thanks, but my memory served me wrong. It was the 2009 Sebring 12 hour and I drove a porsche 911.
What an experience, I really enjoy watching endurance racing especially Le Mans
You've mistaken 1985 with 2009? Yeah right!
lul
We need Le Mans Circuit de la Sarthe in game, and the full 24 h Le Mans with full day/night cycle!
Well looks like this December its finally come to pass.
3 years later and both of these things are actually a reality, lol
Say no more!
I like your videos man you are a good racer :) subbed
need more night races its epic
Man... you drove the wheels off that car in the final part. And the fastest lap of the race was the last one. Enjoyable to watch!
Hey Matt, FYI, that car is a lap down!
Nice, was hoping you'd upload this
Aw I'm so mad I didn't get to race with you! Hope you do the HPD more like you did previously. I love racing with you!
Yeah finally a HPD race from you again! =) i enjoy theese so much.
I would have spun that first for cutting me up the second time because of the amount of track to his right and he would have no one to blame but himself.
I also have to thank you for all the advice you have given it has helped my break barriers and get quicker than I thought I could ever get many thanks
Was suddenly reminded of Alonzo and Vettel's skirmish (Alonzo cutting Vettel off several times yesterday) within the first little bit of this race lol
"What's the difference between better and less worse?"
This kind of existentialism is the reason I am subscribed.
Heh, I was wondering who you were talking to at the start of the race. Got almost distracted. :D
Let us have a moment of silence for all of the cones flung about during this race.

Kevin Umebuani PC, all of my videos are on PC.
Also, with your comment I can safely say.... You must be new here. :p
Just to ask, is the T500 a good set for a beginner? Been watching your videos and I'm already hooked on simracing even though I haven't got the set yet or even iRacing. Been playing Assetto Corsa on xbox controller just for fun.

MM Not just aggressive, he has the nerve to complain about a driver in front of him using the ideal line.
Seriously, if you can't predict an opponents line fairly accurately, you don't belong on a race track...
Henrik Paulsen Uhhhhh the dude cut him off right as he was getting to the outside. If Matt was further next to him, that would’ve been a big wreck
@@HepauDK ok non driver lol
What is his steering wheel ? I love the sound of the clutch
you're good. you're fast.
0:57 such realism
Seeing some of those names in the HPD bring back some noightmares of Proto GT
Nightmares almost as bad as my typing in fact.
I like these night races!
What were the GT1 specifications again? (hp, weight, high downforce or not, etc.)
How do you change the ui. The position of the gear indicator and chat heads to the right ?
nice pass on the white and red car doing the teenger
"that cars a lap down"
I didn't realize Sebring had reflectors on the side of the tracks like that. It is one of the darkest tracks at night.
Love the Adam Sandler reference!
Wait, is there another race going on within your race?
I haven't played many popular Sims however, I can't help but feel that your corner entry speed is sometimes way too fast and that you should ease off the brakes and turn into corners earlier. Either way I still love every video you make, cheers!

ill hop into the GT when I can :D

Hey Matt, sorry for asking you again but... here i go.
Do you know anything about this? -> fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpa1/t1.0-9/532910_10151591754181085_1033062261_n.jpg

I dont know this track..so watching you fly through those corners in complete darkness is absolutely insane. Im calling hacks.
It's not that dark really, should be darker. Or we have the Audi laserbeam lights. :D
Wow, that was INTENSE. Better than real races.
The Audi lazorbeam hack lights is strong with this box that's empty
I have a buddy who drove in an amateur series at Sebring, he broke his tailbone. I can only imagine doing it at night!
I think T17 should be a wider entry and then clip back towards the apex under the bridge.
so what are the other two of your top three race tracks? if I had to guess, i would think one of them would be mosports.
Le Mans, Bathurst, Sebring. Not in any particular order, I enjoy them all equally.
Empty Box
It's a shame we may never see Le Mans in iRacing, I would jump at the chance of doing a 2.4 hours of Le Mans
That guy in front was clearly using Cone power ups lol
Does anyone have any tips for when your right in behind someone and you come to a corner and you have the fear of ramming them up the rear. I find myself braking early just to give myself some more room but this opens me up for attacks from behind and also someone ramming me up the rear.

I hope this series gets merged with the world sports car series next season I think that would be really cool.
Exactly what they're doing... HPD, DP, FGT, and RUF C-Spec.
Forgot to mention that I believe the Corvette will move to its own, single-class series.
TripSpeedGT Would be cool if there were more GT1 and GT2 cars within that series they plan to run, unless I'm mistaken.
TripSpeedGT Isn't the FGT going to be reworked to compete directly with the RUF, as well?
DiscGolfer947
Yes, sadly. Yet another freaking GT3 car that won't be used while splitting participation in a car that doesn't need it. Stupid, stupid decision by iRacing.

Empty Box Wish I had that hat trick. Great video! Looking forward to the next chase lol.
12:26 Nissan logo on a Honda HPD...looks legit
Why does it seem like you have to hit your paddles so many times before it actually changes gears?
Because I am bad and impatient.
Hi Matt why don't you try tripel screen setup
I've tried them before, I just don't have the space for one right now.
Can't for next season, and iRacing (I hope) fixing multiclass. As in, less series, more participation..
Yes sir, no problem
iRacing needs to fix the headlamp spread.
Empty Bax???
+George Day Sebring is a track on an airport. Hence the lighting. Many British race tracks are old WWII airfields like Silverstone and Thruxton.
How can you actually drive this thing in real time *and* talk like that? Mad driving skillz `n focus, bro!
Hey where is TXR?
2:01 "it is 70 minutes long" hm, must have said 17 and i misheard him. **checks video length** **clicks watch later** **continues watching for another 5 minutes** "ooh, real life srf!"
lol nice Adam Sandler reference.
Has anyone ever told you Empty Box you sound like Ray Ramondo, I feel like I'm watch, "Everyone Loves Raymond", when I watch you video's.
I think we may have found his identity👀
Are medics at this race track and a helicopter, just in case...?
oh my god do all iracing tracks have night??! is this new?
13:06 R.I.P Mr. Orr
So every car that's being run in this race is a real person driving it? Or are some AI..?
Thanks!
BossaNossa1 All iRacing races are online against real people.
My uncal Dan Binks is the crow chef of the number 3 corvette
Dude, that's awesome!
So do the crows eat turkey, ham, or pastrami sandwiches? My question still hasn't been answered.
What do you think of the hot split race you also did?
Pretty much a waste of time, guy cut through T3, car checked up in front of me and I had nowhere to go. Was way down on straight line speed to the point of not passing Corvettes in a straight line and the car handled like crap.
Hmm. You would have guessed that that race would have had ABS. That's strange how it dose not.
No it's not, none of the ACO cars have ABS.
what I racing Should do to attract more people to the sim is do what Rfactor or Asseto corsa does. buy once don't need To keep on giving away money.
Plz can i race with you sometime i am fast and very clean
Pet hate - people saying thankyou every single time they get by a car.
Oh god yes. And people telling you where to pass, it really screws you over some times because they call out pass left! and mash the brakes way early and you weren't expecting to pass them in that corner, but now you have no choice and the whole thing is compromised.
i love it when he turns into a corner and my head tells me that there's a lot of g-force so that i have to lean against it xD
man, I can't see anything
Why dont they have ABS? because Weight? adds
Because it's illegal. Probably to keep it more on the driver and keep the costs down a bit.
I don't think you had to slow down that much for the slow-down penalty. If you slow down just a bit, you go slower over the entire straightaway which (I believe) should be enough to clear the penalty before turn 17.
I'm always paranoid with slow downs, because eventually they just black flag you and then you are royally fubar'd.
LOL... that turn-over at T1 was so fake... c'mon, when they'll implement decent collisions in racing sims?
It was a net-code error
Empty Box When attacking try not to focus on the car infront of you, you are driven by its mistakes...
Is it just me or do cones reappear? Because it would be pretty stupid if they did.
They pay some homeless guy $1 an hour to replace the cones.
They pay some homeless guy $1 an hour to replace the cones.
Pickett MuscleMilk Racing unfortunately closed their doors forever and in fact even sold the entire MuscleMilk company.
Sad but true. They had the only P2 that was exciting IMO. :(
Do you know why?
dont even know why you kept racing after the first 20 seconds. 4 times 4x contact. yea that race is pretty much over for you rofl.
Empty Box ok so bad brakes than thank you did the heartless guy that decided to slam into the blue and green car say why he was so heartless? just one of those rude racers that decided that he was afraid you were going to pass him that guy should of been kicked out for life really
sorry but boring....
kinda an EGO thing with this dude.
What the fuck are you talking about purposely getting cut off? ROAD RACING RULE 1 DONT PASS ON THE OUTSIDE!
How do you change the ui. The position of the gear indicator and chat heads to the right ?
Alt+K, click and drag the stuff around. Press Alt+K when done.
thanks Man :)
