MTA New York City Bus 2018 MCI D45 CRT LE Demonstration Bus 0023 [ Brooklyn Division ]

  • This is the latest motorcoach to be tested by the MTA. There are currently two pending orders for express buses in the near future, 257 express buses for MTA Bus, and I believe 50 express buses for NYC Transit(Staten Island, Brooklyn, ect).
    This bus is unique in a few ways. It shares practically the same body characteristics as the J4500 models that's out today, but with some influences with transit specifications, such as the destination sign on top, and a low-entry rear door setup for wheelchair passengers.
    Instead of the common wheelchair lifts, this bus has a simple wheelchair ramp that allows wheelchair customers to board in the low entry portion of the bus. They then have their own space in the lower level of the bus to sit at, which is pretty interesting.
    This bus will be here for 90 or so days, and will be testing out of Ulmer Park, Charleston(no longer Yukon), Yonkers, Eastchester & Baisley Park Depots, but of course, all of this is subject to change.
    What you'll see here in this video are several videos and a ride on-board this bus on the x37 & x38 routes. This bus will be heading to Staten Island in the next few days, with that said, I can definitely get some better videos.
    This bus is powered by a Cummins ISX12 engine with an Allison B500R6 Gen V transmission.
    I hope you guys enjoyed the video. Subscribe & stay tuned for more!!

    Reportedly the 2022 models of the NJT cruiser order (22000 series) would be the last of the classic MCI D-series commuters. The contract began in 2015 and would be complete in 2022.

    I miss Andy Byford. Thanks to sorry a** Andrew Cuomo. He’s the reason we got to see busses such as this and he was trying to modernize our transit system.

    • @ShaneAkACaitSith810
      @ShaneAkACaitSith810  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not entirely. It was planned for the MTA to see this bus long before Byford was in. It's common for the customers of some manufacturers to check out the new products to see how they like it.
      The MTA didn't want to make a purchase for these buses just yet because they were still very new to the market and they wanted to see how other agencies like or dislike the model. We may very well see buses like this in the near future, now that Prevost is only selling their buses to customers that do not comply with the "Buy America" clause in the contracts.

    For real? In the EU they will be not allowed on the street. Too loud, indicators on rear not yellow. Doors way too small. We Germans go by Mercedes , Scania (VW), Solaris (MAN). SETRA means "sebst tragende Karosserie" (one body frame work) all wheels hanged in, engine block is highly sound proof incapsulated. On the other hand: The future is electric!

    • @afcgeo882
      @afcgeo882 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Dirk Gogo Most regular NYC buses are made by Mercedes (Orion) and Volvo (Nova) and are the same as in Europe. Most are hybrid or natural gas, with new fully EV ones being implemented.
      These buses are for suburban and express bus (highway) use and are based on long-distance coaches, but with modifications for local use.
      As far as turn signals are concerned, North America doesn’t require rear signals to be amber. Even most European cars have red ones here. It’s not any less safe, just a different culture. Even Mercedes S-Class and Audi A8 here choose red turn signals.

    Poor Handicap people won’t be able to enjoy a bus ride. Look how claustrophobic, low and unfun that must be to stay in. They are being treated like luggage almost. Just deal with the lifts please. If I were old I rather be lifted up.

    • @ShaneAkACaitSith810
