Thanks so much for the tutorial. Anna’s machine seems so much easier. Plus the plates don’t warp! I’m still using my Cuttlebug….the best machine ever. Wish they would bring it back with a bigger opening and bigger plates. My plates have never warped either. I hardly use my Original Gemini. The plates are so warped. Another great machine is the Diamond Press Marquis.
I agree with you. I'm in the same boat We pay all that money and the plates ridiculously bad. Fast. I don't like my Gemini because of the plates problem.
GMTA!!! I LOVE how we are following the same TH-camrs!!! I am intently watching this as I have the Gemini II and I WANT to see her use Anna's plates with this!!!
Thanks for doing this video. I wouldn’t like remembering the plate order for the Gemini. Right now the only thing I like on the Gemini are the plate holders. Happy crafting!
I use the spellbinder grand caliper plates with one generic Gemini cutting plate and it cuts beautifully without warping. I never use it with embossing folders.
Just watched both of your videos with this machine and the review of the AG Empress Elite. I was thinking of ordering the AG one - I have the Gemini II and I agree with you - its loud and the plates do warp terribly. :)
Tammy I don’t know if you have a video like this already…….Would you ever do a review with lining up all your die cutting machines and give a honest review on the pros and cons of each machine?❤️🤗🙋🏻♀️
I really like my Gem 2, itt works well with most of the combinations I use but the plate system is HORRIBLE, the warping is a deal breaker and I barely use it because of the plates. I just purchased the Empress Elite and so far it is looking like I will use it more than the Gem 2. Also my original Gem 2 broke within the first month but they replaced it quickly and easily. If I had to choose based on machine I would pick the Gem 2 but if I had to pick based on the plate system, the Elite wins. Each has pros and cons but I am keeping them both so that I get the best of both worlds. Because I did the autoship on both I did not want to return either to keep those benefits.
I have the Gemini 2 and haven’t used that much. I wonder if we could use white plate metal plate magnetic plate paper and die and white plate. Like we do with Anna Griffin empress. That would save our dies and the metal plate? Love your tutorials
I have a cpl of the Gemini's and they do work beautifully but... after using Anna's machine I found i prefer the magnetic plate for the dies to "cut" into, just made more sense to me...
The thing that puzzles me the most is the fact that the magnetic shim isn't used to actually hold the die in place. It's only used as a means to make the sandwich thicker. Why would a magnetic sheet be required with an embossing folder? Wishing my Gemini jr would break so I can order the Anna Griffin machine!
I really enjoyed your review. I have never wanted a Gemini machine just because the sandwiches are so confusing. But I know they are powerful. I have the Empress original and the Diamond Press Marquise. Both serve me well. I do not have a machine with a large enough opening for the Close to My Heart embossing system. That I sort of wish I had.
IT WILL BE INTERESTING TO SEE HOW THE ANNA CLEAR PLATES LAST WITH THE NEW GEMINI MACHINE. I THINK YOU SAID THAT YOU LIVED IN CANADA. ANNA SAID THE OTHER DAY AT CREATE 10 THAT THE NEW EMPRESS ELITE WILL BE COMING OUT IN CANADA NEXT YEAR.
Try a sheet of waxed paper between the paper and the die. It should release the die cut easily for several cuts. You should not over use wax paper though.
Check your sandwiches again - pg.4. Cringing to see you using the metal shim with all cuttings…it’s only for really intricate designs, and even then, cut into the cutting plate not the shim. Basic dies do not need the metal shim. CC advises stacking sandwiches for MINIMUM pressure needed. Excessive bowing denotes systematically using too much pressure. Biggest drawback for me, the size of plates that come with the machine… feels like it takes forever to run them through with individual smaller dies - not practical. The junior plates solve this problem BUT aren’t always easy to find - often ‘sold out’. Where this machine really shines - super intricate dies, embossing folders (2D & 3D), and the CC Letterpress. I don’t have the CC foiling machine so can’t comment on the Gemini 2’s performance with that.

Not hard after a while
I like it when I spray the paper, helps the embossing to really stand out. I have the Big Shot Plus machine. never had a gemini.

Appreciate you sharing your tutorial and unboxing
I may have to invest in one just can’t decide which one to purchase❤❤❤
Love my G2
You can try wax paper with the heartfelt die with Empress plates. It will come out easier.

Me too. They need to fix the warping problem.
Happy you like the new Gemini die cutting machine. I got the Big Shot Switch and I am happy with that.

THE NEW ANNA GRIFFIN EMPRESS ELITE IS COMING TO CANADA SOMETIME NEXT YEAR. I FOUND THIS VIDEO VERY INTERESTING. YOU ARE SO CUTE.

The metal shim is for intricate dies

Question: Has anyone tried the Anna’s magnetic plate in the Gemini, using it to cut into?
Try some press n seal.
