I'm actually pretty glad this video was made. It solidified our decision to buy one of these sets for our off grid home in northern ontario. The generator in the video must still have the factory fill weight oil in it and/or has sat for a long time outside. Ours starts better even with the super cold temps of -30c. No issues yet. We will see what happens at -45c though. Synthetic 5w40 oil makes a big difference in starting I've noticed after we changed out the factory fill. Thanks again.

Hello there, could I use a fragment of your video for my coldstarting compilation? Of course I will put a link to your original video in the description, increasing the original’s popularity too. Thanks a lot for you answer in advance :)

Kills me to watch that thing spool up to full rpm when that cold. Shortening its life for sure.

Nature of the beast. All my standby generators on the nursing homes got about three seconds of mercy before the transfer switch hit em.

Should at least have a coolant and/or block heater.

@@TheSwanny And where would the power come from to run the heater? Maybe another generator? Think before you comment.

@@stuntmanroy Well, brain surgeon, if its a standby generator, then the power it was standing by to take over for would provide the power for the heaters. Seriously....you can’t be that dense, can you?

Hear all that knocking at 1:30? Thats major engine wear with low oil pressure.

Sounds like a cold diesel clattering and sputtering to me

Too bad they run at such a high rpm. If it weren't for that, everyone wouldn't complain about how loud they are.
