Theyvare definitely fall zones and you have no idea what a no fall zone is lol. Most resorts don’t have no fall zones and it’s mostly people who ski in the backcountry

Taos Ski Valley is and probably always will be my favorite mountain, and I've skied lots of resorts in many states, as well as in Europe. The snow is incredibly light and fluffy, only slightly topped by Utah's snow in the Cottonwood Canyons! Both sides of the ridge are magical, from Tresckow to Meatball to Zdarsky, some of my favorite ridge runs, to name a few. It's just the right kind of resort for serious skiers looking for easily accessible extreme terrain, and Taos has plenty of it to explore!

I went there for my 50th birthday with my family. I had never been in the Rockies. We cross country skied at 11,000 feet, was amazing place to be.

Was hiking to Lake Williams over New Years and out of the corner of my eye some backwoods skier flys by me like a ghost. His dog was following him which made it even cooler.

I've seen this happen a couple times on the Williams Lake trail and Wheeler Peak trail. It's super impressive and a lot of fun to see!

Freaking love it. Until really ski something that step. You don't give steep chutes the credit they deserve. Taos Chutes are definitely no fall type of skiing. I dig it!!!!

I skied at Taos for one day many decades ago. I remember one super long, very steep, very narrow mogul run under a chair.. Can't remember the run name? That place has some intense steep runs. But it was still spring skiing paradise there.

Could have been Reforma, Blitz, or Blitz into Winston if it was near the top of the mountain, or Al's Run if it ended at the bottom. Al's run is insanely long, and always has nice big moguls on it. My favorite part of Al's is a little more than halfway down, where Lower Inferno branches out. They have a sign saying that a black diamond called Lower Inferno is the "easiest" route down 😊

If you think Taos is challenging don't go to Squaw Valley California!

  • @tookymax

That doesn't look like an enjoyable experience. Lots of scraping going on and very little carving. Like skiing on 2X4s. My philosophy is to learn to carve perfectly on an intremediate run rather than struggle on this expert run.
