- Interview with ballet artist Sergei Polunin (Сергей Полунин) who appeared as a guest at the III Women's Forum in Kuzbass, Kemerovo on May 31st, 2024. The hostess/ interviewer is Maria Sittel.
Sergei also performed 3 dances (to be posted separately). This interview took place just after his performance of "Sacre", an approximately 30-minute solo ballet based on Vaslav Nijinsky's "The Rite of Spring" and inspired by Nijinsky's struggles and his art. After the interview, Sergei performed "Zabava".

Hi, I'm a fan from New York City, USA. And one of the things I have always loved about Sergei IS his love for women and being unapologetically straight. I would love to see Sergei visit here and perform here. Over the past 30 years, there has been this perception that ballet is only for women and gay men. I dont understand how that perception came about because as a child every male dancer I watched was masculine and straight - a perfect example is Gene Kelly. Sergei is the greatest ballet dancer in the world right now and I think one of the reasons is his love for women AND ballet.

I’m glad you enjoyed the interview. 🥰 I’m not sure how in his element Sergei is in front of large crowds of women, but he definitely doesn’t miss any opportunities to praise Elena to others. 😄.
As for the other dances, one I’m not sure of, since the lighting of the recording isn’t good enough to see him very well, but I plan to post the one he did right after this interview sometime within the next week. And you’ve already seen the one he performed right before this interview🙂:
