Te Araroa | Weather Warnings and Solo Walking | Chapter 3

Hiking solo through what is widely considered the most impressive section of Te Araroa, Nelson Lakes National Park. With the tail end of a Cyclone battering the South Island with torrential rain and high winds, I continued south while my friends waited out the weather in Nelson.
While I love the comradery of hiking in a group, I've always enjoyed a bit of solo expeditioning. The freedom of spending weeks alone in the woods is incredible, but on Te Araroa, true solitude can be hard to come by.
