      and the girl definitely is only acting out because of grief. if her father had gotten her into therapy, her behavior probably wouldn't have ever gotten this bad. she might have still been abusing substances, but otherwise it might've been alright (speaking from experience).

      In Africa you always refer to your elders as mom or dad if they married or are old enough to be your parents and you always refer to youth older than you as brother or sister not by their name.

    Parents from Botswana had different aproach.
    They said what they expect from them but, there was no shouting no screaming.And the change in those young adults was tremendus.

    You know, this family was actually very nice and gracious. They are just very set on their rules. I would love to spend time with this family! Although, I won’t be eating those worms lol. I think it was so sad that the teens found it painful to be nice. Shows that they hung out with the wrong crowd back in England.

    This was one of the best episodes I've seen. The host family were awesome, the school was brilliant and the two teens were lovely. Especially Leigh. He put in so much effort. Hope they're all happy and doing well

    Both kids have spoken about respect, AFTER they have disrespected the parents. Trust is earned. If you have obeyed the rules, you get the respect

    The problem is that if you mess around in school and at home having no boundaries, then later in life you miss out on the better jobs and end up not succeeding in life. Believe it, I speak from experience.

    We lived in Botswana from 1998-2001. Much different than South Africa, but it was amazing. From the nature reserves to the kind kids at the preschool. We were very happy there. I still have stuffed donkey my parents bought me there. Great memories!

    Is it bad that I can really relate to the girl?🤔 she doesn't want to try things cause she doesn't want to be judged and get hurt, or scared of the future just like me... it's difficult...     Once adults give in, another boundary and another boundary will be broken. Too much compromise by parents because the of the lack the perseverance to stick to their rules.

    Both these kids and their new Botswana family are fantastic! The kids are some of the more insightful and mature kids we've seen on the show, and the host family as the most warm and welcoming, with the perfect balance of discipline.

    This family is lovely and they must be so proud of their children. It was so nice to see all the school children so happy and getting so much out of it. This is how to bring up happy, confident and successful children. Without hitting them though!! We all could learn so much from other cultures. We might not agree with all their different views., but every culture has things to learn from.

    African parents are loving and kind as long as you listen to their rules and respect them.
    I've learnt this first hand and trust me, you don't want the wooden spoon pulled out on you so just obey. It makes it easier for everyone haha
