No prayer for the dying was my first CD ever! My dad brought it to me just because I liked the cover art, I was like, 5 or 7. As soon as the album started playing I was stonned, my mouth was all open. My brothers said "wow what a shitty music haha" and I didn't care. I listenned to it with full attention till the end. That was the first time I listened to metal music, today I'm a metalhead, I watched more than 1 Iron Maiden show, some of my most precious friends I just got to met because of this passion. Lots o' good memories, and it all started because of that music and that album. Up the irons!
The Number of the Beast was my very first metal and Maiden album. And believe it or not I thought it sucked ass at first and just left it there for months. One day I decided to listen to it again for no reason and it blew my fucking mind, I was like holy mother of fuck how did I not hear this before? Man as soon as Hallowed be thy name was over I was back to Invaders all over again, hahah good times
I was in a rough school and being on the small side and studious (with a defensively big mouth and stinging wit to boot which probably didn't help) I got bullied like crazy. By the time I was 13, in 1990, one of the few other guys who'd looked out for me had to leave and when he did he gave me a tape with Powerslave on one side and Seventh Son of a Seventh Son on the other. I started listening to it a few nights later after a bad day and... well, I was so damned blown away that I've never looked back in the 27 years since. \m/ all the way. I can like and get on with other stuff, other genres... I guess I'm as eclectic in musical taste as I was in reading... but I forever turn again to the \m/

THIS is metal, and THIS is how to perform this forceful, punchy and wild song....Thunderous drums, Climbing bassline, Amazing guitar phrasing, powerful voice and Look at them.......Glowing on stage, STUNNING GUYS !!!
I know a lot of Maiden fans and even some Maiden band members that thought this was a letdown after 7th Son. But I'm glad they changed direction. It's nice to take risks. And there were some good songs on this record.
Sadly an album that suffered from the decision to record it in Steve Harris's barn using the Rolling Stones old mobile recording van, the album would have been so much better in the studio and as for 7th son an album that was almost prog rock in some of the material and probably the nadir of the concept album for Maiden.
