I tried a 2018 Sella & Mosca Reserva (in 2022) and it didn't knock my socks off. I don't remember a barnyard smell or taste though. Recently read that Sardinian Cannonau contributes to longevity on that blue zone island, so I'm going to explore more examples of this wine. Also heard that some 3000 year old grape seed was excavated by archeologists in Sardinia and it tested to be Cannonau, evidence that Grenache derives from Cannonau, not vice versa.
I've tried to find these wines in multiple wine stores and nobody carries them. I asked why and nobody knows. Must be some kind of big secret or something??? Looks like the only way I can get my hands on some is order it on line.
It's definitely not the easiest wine to locate. I have it in my department. I try to have at least one in the store all the time. If you have a boutique wine shop near you, they may be able to locate one. Good luck!

Cannonau wines are consumed more for health in Sardinia with wheat products, fish and vegetables than meats.
