    I work in a metal factory with all types of different metals we heat treat and forge them by extream heat to cold back and forth multiple times. We do this because as you all know the blade gets just as hot if not hotter when being used. Heating the blade will not soften the metal in any type of way. It will only make it harder and more brittle and prone to cracking from being so stiff.

    If you're looking for cost savings, buy cheap bulk packs of blades off amazon and never buy the carbide tipped ones. The carbide ones are often too thick and you get about 10-15 regular blades for the same price as just a single carbide. You also don't feel guilty about throwing it away once it's dull.

    You don't even need that spool thingy. All you need is to make the blade edge jagged. I did the same thing with the metal cutting wheel on my angle grinder. Yeah, I TRIED to make it look like saw teeth and failed miserably, and to my surprise, it still cut like nobody's business.

    Considering most guys in the field simply chuck the old bit, in a pinch I wouldn't mind sacrificing the heat treatment for a sharp blade. Maybe I'm missing something but that sounds like a fair trade off.

    Because I'm not making TH-cam videos in a shop setting with a friend. I'm in the field doing real work. Grabbing the needed tools and nothing else out of the truck, and if I notice the blade is done I'm changing it out at the last job that ruined it, while also charging the cost of a blade to every job because I understand how to estimate and quote.
    This isn't a tip or trick, this is just bad advice filmed for TH-cam views and money.

    As crude as it is it is also pretty ingenious. I see the issues with heat and heat treatment the blade comes with but If your in a pinch you can use that whole blade. In a commercial environment this is ignorant but home owner use for around the house isn’t too bad. Maybe somebody has or will make a better tool with a better process to make the cuts that doesnt damage the hardness or functionality of the blade it self.

      Hi, sorry to bother. So I was over excited about this tool because I do basic stuff with the oscillating tool and a lot of blades go dull. So reading the comments about the “heat treatment going bad”, and wanted to ask you if it’s still worth to buy, if so, how do I properly use this wheel? Thanks

    • @timidb
      @timidb ปีที่แล้ว

      @@antonioreyes421 I do think it's worth buying but you gotta go slow with it, if the blade goes blue or black around the edges, the heat treat is burnt there. But don't worry, the blade isn't completely ruined, if you grind out the part that had color, it should be good again.
      dipping it in water pretty often while grinding is going to prevent burning, so just keep the blade cool and you'll be good.
      I feel bad for jumping on you like that, but I'm glad you asked, not many have the balls to admit that they need advice
