    One of the best songs ever written.

    My friend owns a good amount of johns belongings including a few guitars..john bestowed this task to him before passing. I remember trying to play this song on the martin he has and it sounded so much like the recordings that my leg would not stop shaking. Played the lap-steel from live in Tasmania album too. Great tune.

    You produced that trembling melancholic sound so well. This is one of the many Fahey pieces where you can find something new every time you listen. I can’t wait to check out the Patreon lesson

      Thanks Nash. More reverb than I would normally use to try to slightly emulate the album version.

    That Bozo belonged to my father, and he would be very happy to see it making beautiful music again. Great playing!

    A great rendition, especially like the tone. I never managed to get those ProPik fingerpicks sounding that warm and rounded.

    • @andrewlardner
      @andrewlardner  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It took me many years to get used to fingerpicks, similar to using nails and fingers it takes a lot of time to develop the precision it takes to get rid of the sizzling sound and get the attack angle just right. Still working on it.

    On top of your excellent playing, your mic and recording approach really captures the full guitar sound. I'd like to send something of mine and have it sound that good when you hear it. Can you share what the mic and recording chain is? --If not, it's still another fine performance.

    • @andrewlardner
      @andrewlardner  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Really simple:
      guitar -> mics (small diaphragm condenser) -> recording interface (doesn't really matter what kind -> computer -> DAW (again doesn't really matter which one)
      Biggest results will come from the time you put into playing the guitar and a lot of time understanding best practices for the recording equipment.

      @@andrewlardner Thanks for getting back to me, Andrew. The recordings I make of my recorded acoustic guitar playing do not sound as natural as when played in the room. Putting SM57s or Beyer dynamic or Sterling condenser into UAD Apollo and protools. Where is Tony Clarke or the guy who recorded Pentangle when I need them!
