I started watching your videos 2 years ago when I couldn't draw anything! Your videos mean so much to me. Your advice to 'just draw what you see and embrace the wonkiness' gave me the confidence to draw. You are a wonderful teacher!
Have you read Koosje’s book “ Life is Better When You Draw It”. It is psychologically very insightful ….I think you would love it . 🤗 Hope you don’t mind me recommending it to you……but as a fan of Koosje’s style of art work, I think you would like it.
That was cool. A good demonstration of a quick 10-minute sketch. I would have obsessed over the path which was not painted correctly, but at the end, it looked like part of it was shaded, so it totally worked. So nice to see that you don't obsesses over the details, and trust the process.
I love the fact that your drawings and paintings hold feeling and heart. They are not just a reproduction of the scene (when I see paintings like that, I think , well, just take a photo!) Koosje, you created another tiny masterpiece ❤
Love this real-time drawing demo!! Inspiring and instructive to see how and what you captured, and I appreciate hearing your thinking out loud along the way. It makes me want to spend time outdoors today, sketching, even if it is just in my neighborhood. 😊
You will have to wait until I visit Greece again so I can film another video… in the meantime I sure hope you will find more inspiration on this channel
Bless you my dear I rarely get out of my tiny village, but a friend came to stay and using your techniques, inspiration and encouragement... A brown biro , a watercolour set and some sea water, I painted a boat in the harbour and an elderly man readying his fish hooks...two scenes... whilst my friend braved the cooling Ionian sea. Here in your picture, you have captured that brilliant summer sunshine and deep welcome shade in a way that is the reality of greek summer, even though it wasn't so noticeable in the photo. And adding the little guy at the end was a perfect finish. Thankyou for he beautiful souvenir. I will try this technique too...outside as you did xx
So lovely and loose and quick! I tend to get bogged down in the details, but when I’m able to loosen up, I like the result so much better. Thank you for demonstrating this!
Love this. I am still proud of a succulent plant I drew using your blobby, loose method. I have wanted to do more quick drawings, I need to watch this more and remind myself that 10 mins is all it takes. Lovely demonstration, thank you. "It's an interpretation", not a photo.
I didn't know how the picture would come together at first, with just the blobs, and then the blunt Inktense pencil (and no apology for that, yay!) ... and suddenly it all came together like magic, and in only 10 minutes! I love the background noise of people walking and talking while you are drawing. It makes me feel like I am there, looking at the reference photo and your drawing process and the background sound. It's different from having video of café and people, more magical and evocative, somehow. Your videos are so inspiring, comforting, and freeing, Koosje! Thank you!
it was so refreshing to see you drawing something new. i enjoyed the series of drawing the same subject it taught me a lot but it’s amazing to watch how much detail you got in 10 minutes. looks like a lovely holiday ❤
I could have kept going with the same subject with many other approaches but we also need to change things up to stay creative and inspired right? By the way It wasn’t a holiday, but an awesome workshop trip to awesome Greece.
Like the way you added the figure right at the end…..I’ve only been to Naxos once…in 1975… when it was relatively undiscovered…..few tourists, and those mostly German. Very peaceful
Was just in Greece! Now in Italy! When get home (US) I will try this from my photos using your method. Just Beautiful. I would never think to do what you do. (But I did fill up a little sketchbook with quick pencil or pen sketches and then added watercolor later on the boat or bus or waiting in line or whatever. My first try of this kind. The other people on our tour think I am so talented-hahaha! Oh well I have had so much fun.😊)
It was really helpful to see you make the decisions you did, especially in the beginning when you laid down those first watercolour washes. I could feel myself getting anxious and doubting how in the heck this drawing was going to work out. Obviously your years of practice must develop a certain intuition as to what to tackle first. Like someone else mentioned, I would have obsessed about the stone work on the path. I am still trying to embrace making "messy" art, not getting it "right" the first time, it is really silly how one can be so hard on oneself, even at 60, even if one is only doing this for oneself! Thank you for the ongoing inspiration. I think I am on the 4th round of reading your lovely book, and I still learn something new every time.
I’m so glad it was helpful. I may have indeed developed a certain intuition but most of the time I don’t know what I’m doing either. The intuition is more as in trusting the process. Of course I feel doubts about how it’ll work out (especially when filming it!), everybody has these feelings. But I do know that there’s a “messy middle” in each creative process, and that’s where you need to trust the process. More attention and some love makes all the difference. I’m excited you’re reading my book over and over again!
What a lovely remembrance, Koosje, of a bit of quiet time in Naxos Town. We were so busy … I’m glad you found some solitude on a peaceful pathway. I have one day left here in Germany. I’ll give this a try today before packing up most of the art supplies. I need to save a few, of course, for travel time! 🎨🖌️❤
That was sooo helpful, thank you very much! I always want to work with these materials (watercolor and watersoluable pencils) and it always turns out so messy... I learned a lot in these ten minutes, watching you work on this quick drawing. Which paper/sketchbook did you use?

@@sheilacym 👍Will do.
Mission accomplished. Thank you so much!

If we keep obsessing about mistakes we make, the drawing might be less enjoyable. Embrace the wonkiness!
I am always amazed at how easy you make things look. I love your style. I need to loosen up more!
Loosening up does make things easier and more relaxed. Have fun!

Yes, so much life in her drawings!

I hope you did!
Learned that I need not outline windows! That was exciting
No need at all!
Thank you, Koosje. Always a gift to us. 😊😊
Thank you for watching!
More videos of you drawing in Greece please……this one was wonderful. Very inspirational!🎨
You will have to wait until I visit Greece again so I can film another video… in the meantime I sure hope you will find more inspiration on this channel
Such a charming drawing and captures that lovely whitewashed light of Greece. You can practically feel the sea breeze.
Thank you so much!
So little says do much!!! Amazing skills at capturing the scene
Thanks, it was fun too
Bless you my dear

What a beautiful and inspiring sketch you have made! Now I want to try using a Derwent pencil with simplified watercolors. Thank you, Koosje.
Thank you for watching!
I absolutely five-star love this!! And what a great suggestion for line work. I'm just about to go on a trip, and you've really inspired me 😊😊
I hope you got to practice this on your trip!

Must have been very different then. Hopefully this quiet alleyway brought back good memories
I just love this idea and love your sketch. ❤ I’m going to try blobbing next.😊
Yes! Will you let me know how it goes?
This was so wonderful and inspirational. Thank you so much :)

Thank you for watching
Lovely - thank you for the real time share.
You’re very welcome
Thank you, I always think that i don’t have enough time. Will try to do this more
If you loosen up and keep your paint/pen moving, you need less time than you think.

Plan on watching your tutorial many times..I get too tight thank you
If you get too tight, try drawing with your non dominant hand.
Do you take groups? I want to go, pls! ❤
