i didnt initially think i was MAOF, but the description fit me and how I play gg sol badguy pretty well. i did also chose linne before watching, so thats pretty cool
Really good video! Hilariously, this video is actually a more accurate example of a personality test, since the MBTI archetypes are designed to be as generic as possible to get people to say "That's just like me!" While yours doesn't have that priority. I had a hard time initially understanding the difference between the last two categories at first, but I understood it with time. (My primary definition of an OS is a Safejump, so I was confused to see it in the defensive category. I'm a BAOS player, but it manefests more as a BARS, since I haven't learned the defensive OSes yet.
This is amazing and I can tell a lot of work went into making this video. Don't worry about the popping mic thing. Not only did I learn about what character I shouldn't sleep on based on my habits, but which of my habits I should keep a check on while playing my favorites!
i LOVE this system that youve created to match personality types. absolutely brilliant. i myself am a BARF and a merkava enjoyer in past titles. looking forward to seeing more content from you!
Gotta give props, this was spot on. I would say I'm BNRF and Gordeau is probably my favorite fighting game character ever. Great video, can't w8 to show it around again when Uni 2 drops in Jan.
Loved this! I've had this video in my Watch Later for the longest time, and I've finally sat down to watch it. I teeter between MNRS and BNRS, leaning MNRS, but I play Orie with a very heavy focus on Neutral. It's been a sec since I've played UNI (been playing GBFVR and MBTL), so I need to re-learn GRD, but this was a super fun video and a good theory. I feel as though it could be helpful (with some personal adaptation) to figure out a general idea of what my opponent wants faster, as I tend to kinda ignore that. Anyway, super hyped for UNI 2! Looking forward to more of your content!
Thanks for watching & I'm glad you liked it. I'm thinking of doing something similar for GBVSR, but that one feels a lot harder since I don't understand it as well as Under Night.
This was such a good and unique way to handle this question I really enjoyed it! I find myself liking to play 80/20 Zoner/rushdown and I ended up with BNOF but checked out some of the others I felt I could have fit into as well. Ended up realising Vatista and Merkava were the most common recommendations I had (Pretty much the only ones) so I guess it's time I checked them out! I definitely want to try and apply this to other games, it was great!
What a beautifully crafted idea turned into a digestible video. This is how I really realized that I am actually a zoner player no matter how much I try to deny it. Great video Edit: Put your twitch in your description to make it easier to follow on there :>
Honestly I think you're spot on because I was a Nanase main for the entirety of Unist and then when Clr showed off Lond i was like NAH THAT'S MY NEW MAIN think you did a great job with this!
This was such an interesting take. I have found myself somehow drawn to the characters in my type even though the design was what drew me initially. I wonder if the devs took that into account as well. Amazing idea and a good execution, it was a good watch!
This was a fun one. I'd place myself somewhere between BNRF/MNRF with "Read based defensive" describing me to a T. My character of choice, however is Linne as I get to both call out the opponents offense and threaten space using some combination of high mobility and projectiles. The description fits a bit better in GG, where I play an unusually defensive Baiken (Xrd) and Leo (Strive) with a very defensive gameplan that capitalize on holes in the opponents offense to gain momentum.
As a MNRF phonon player you are right. I define my gameplan as "f*ck it, we ball" : I don't mind about the cycle. I don't care where you are. I don't remember my combos. I just have long whip and and I'm gonna use it. It always works.
Damn. NO WONDER I keep on being told by everyone I should play a different character. Eltnum's the opposite of my brain in everyway! Really helpful vid you made here. Definitely gonna branch out my options when UNI2 comes out. Might have fun with rollback.
Good video! Loved your delivery on "X players like:". It has Ryu from Streets™vibes in a way that I automatically went "Jumping into light fierce" every time you listed one. Cheers!
Spot on and most helpful. No matter what I do, I gotta figure things out, then use the info accordingly. But if you wanna play your game, you're gonna play mine first. *Full screen laser beam.* BRS at this point for me, but I believe that's enough.
Very cool video. Even not having played Under Night, I still thought this was a cool way to think about fighting gamer player playstyles. I do think some explanation of some terms like "the cycle" would have helped but regardless, I hope this video finds its way out of just the Under Night circle cause I think the concept has a lot of potential.
This is a very nice innovative experience to watch this video on what character suits people's playstyles. I chose yuzu as my first character because I loved the idea of the execution, and the sword she had. I don't find myself to be a zoner player, but I like the idea of it. I do love defense and everything. After pausing the video and deciding on BNOS, I was kind or surprised to see Yuzu being in that category. I might have to put this towards street fighter, or when the game comes out, I wonder if I'll have that same playstyle, while learning Kaguya.
I don’t think the core list has changed much. No character does anything that different from the previous version, many of them just do it better. As for the new characters I’ll have to get some experience with them before placing them
I’ve always been interested in UNI and happened to stumble on this video, and I’ve always wanted to play Merkava, for the sole reason of him being a goofy lil fella with wacky wavy arms and wings. I almost always tend to gravitate towards the weirdo characters since they’re often the ones I find the coolest (except Arakune, fuck Arakune!), but I noticed I tend to play largely the same sort of style across games, even if it’s not necessarily the style that best suits the character, mainly a sort of 70:30 mix of MARF and BARF (also please don’t feel bad about the acronym, it’s very funny). Considering I often find myself playing grapplers and have a devil in my ear telling me to HIT BUTTONS RIGHT NOW, THEN DO IT AGAIN, I feel like your personality test theory is pretty accurate! I never really thought much about how I played beyond it basically being “fuck it we ball” or “I’m gambling with both my life and yours”, but your video has articulated that experience in a way that sounds a lot more digestible and less unhinged, and providing characters that might be suited to that playstyle does seem like a helpful place for potential new players like myself to start! I’ll still play the funny screaming noodle monster and probably find out the hard way that shoving a square peg into a circle hole doesn’t often work out perfectly, but hey, Mika always seemed really cool, and her music is fire, so I’m winning either way! TL;DR- cool video, I liked it a lot, hopefully I can become less hopelessly broke and play new a fighting game to recklessly gamble with silly, entirely too committal options!🥲
Am a Gordeau main who had a hard time deciding if I was an MNRF or an MARF. I think this is a really interesting way to recommend people characters, I love the idea and would love to see you make a similar kind of thing for other games.
really cool video, recently just got into unclr and this is very helpful, also i think i'm probably a MAOS type player i main Akatsuki, but i've been practicing Hyde on the side, you really hit the nail on the head with this one
you got a sub from me man! This such a fun and well executed idea! Very inspiring I would love to extend this even more to other games! I'm thinking we could extend this for other games with the second question changed to "system mechanics aware" for those who want to more so engage with the uniques gimmicks that different games offer. Loved the video! Amazing job! Also for clarification on Scientist vs Freestyler, is it that the scientist wants to create the same situations on oki and kind of avoid rps or make it as safe as possible, while the free styler embraces rps and hard callouts on wake up? Like its the [o]ption selector vs [r]eactor of wake ups / offense? Thanks! And thanks for the video!
Glad you liked it! I agree with the idea of making the second question about system awareness - I also have to learn enough about the other games to make the right calls on characters. I think you nailed it with what I meant by Scientist vs Freestyler. It's like the offensive equivalent of the other category. Thanks for the sub and thanks for watching!
It is absolutely terrifying that I came here looking for a new character to learn/main as someone who hasn’t played much UNICLR and landed in the MNOF category with 2 of the 3 characters I played in there (the third being Eltnum)
Being an MNOF, I was not ready for the giga chad lmao. Neither of the characters I play (Akatsuki or Wagner) ended up there, but I might pick up Merkava or Byakuya now just to see if they fit me better. This was really cool. Way more interesting than most "who do I play" videos I've seen that rigidly go "Play *insert character here* if you like *blank*"
I put myself in bnrf with a few of those being tentative as my habits change over time as I am trying to get better at fighters. MARF had both my character choices, though, which amused me. BARS sounds like what happens actually happens in my games. Early rounds are rough, and at some point, it flips, and my friends quit after losing 10 rounds in a row.
I got MAOS which is accurate. I love Ryu/Ky/Goku style characters in most games. But in UNICLR I really like Wald. He just has arms that cover 80% of the screen at once, I think that's hilarious. My secondary is Orie who I think can fall into your description of what a MAOS player likes.
can't wait to play Carmine in UNISC and do flowcharts on new players. plus frames forever as I chipped the other guy while I consequently chipped myself. I haven't played for a long time but air 6B is still plus, right? Can't get out of that pressure unless if you use the system mechanics effectively... it's cheap
Really cool video, I got BNRF and Waldstein/Byakuya are two of my favorite characters! I think you could possibly make a version of this test applicable to fighting games as a whole with a little tweaking. In my mind the only thing that would really need to change is the part about the cycle because I think that mechanic is exclusive to Under Night. Take that with a grain of salt because I'm just a casual and never really understood that part of the game when I used to play.
I definitely want to adapt this to normal FG’s. I was thinking for that category it would just be “utilizes system mechanics” or “ignores system mechanics”
I'm "Bars" but play hyde and little seth lol. But honestly you aren't wrong that's how I play and I'm relatively new to the game. I've had this game for a while in my library but haven't touched it till recently because I'm preparing for UNI2!
Unfortunately I've not played UNI2 in a long time and don't have the knowledge of the newcomers to make that call. Thanks for watching, though, if I ever can create content on a more fulltime basis I will absolutely revisit this
Considering I main Nanase and am starting to 2nd main Hyde Im in between the 2 types but I like all rounders in general and being able to switch to defense and offense. These 2 chars can do both in different ways. Nanase for more riskier plays while Hyde for consistent pacing.
At first i didnt understand what the cycle mean but thanks to your descriptions and some analysis of my Strive matches i think im a BARS.... Or maybe a MARS, cuz i dont mash if, AND ONLY IF i dont know the frame data of the character im fighting against, but i know im an RS, im not an BNRS i dont like zoners, neither im a MNRS i HATE setplay (on heavy mix-up characters), usually dont play mix heavy characters but i do like DPs
Of all the categories that interested me or sounded like me, Carmine appeared the most amount of times - that being three times. Coincidentally, I just happen to also BE a Carmine player! Checks out for me lol
idk what a cycle is, i dont play this game lol but cool idea! Im a grappler main, so i guess im BARF.... although, i definitely like option selects too! in sf4 i had some good ones with gief to beat backdash, and in 6 i have a pretty nifty although technical safejump OS. But i think I do end up relying more on reactions than OS.
I like the whole category system you put together, I haven't played much uni but BARF and MARF fit me to a T. Will probably end up playing gordeau when the game comes out. I went in wanting to play eltnum or waldstein but the former doesn't really fit my playstyle it seems (will still try to make her work) and the latter will make me think I'm playing an inferior potemkin cause I hate 360 inputs.
What is the cycle? I was looking into UNI content recently cuz I'm planning on picking up UNI2SC. I was sure I'm a freestyler bcs I don't really spend much time in the lab, only figure out my best route from a poke, best punish route and some kind of basic pressure string that I can build off of during a match and then I just go with the flow during a match try to adapt to how my opponent plays. Hold 4 on round start, run ignorant zoning and go for overwhelming but simple pressure afterwards to see how my opponent reacts. Played mostly Ciel and PowerD in Melty Blood Type Lumina, Jack-O in Guilty Gear Strive, Launcher in DNF Duel, Nu-13 Lambda-11 Rachel Alucard in BlazBlue, Tomoka and Yukina in Dengeki Bunko, Botan in Idol Showdown. From that I was certain I'd get BARF. But from the explanation in the video I thought I could land anywhere in BARS, BNOS or BNRS and I don't even know why. I'm no labber and I'm too lazy to learn option selects and as I said I have no clue wym by "cycle" but if we're talking about neutral then I wouldn't say I'm negligent because as much as I want to use ignorant moves I see them more as a tool to see how my opponent reacts to them and frustrate them and punish them for it next time. Make my opponent feel miserable and take advantage of it. If it helps Yuzuriha looks very cool for me. Eltnum and Hilda maybe Orie and Phonon look interesting to me. However I haven't played UNI before.
Sounds like you'd like Yuzu or Vatista, yeah. Cycle is the system mechanic that the pace of the match is based around. It rewards smart shielding/defending and knowing when to take your turn. If it helps make things easier I would ask "how much do you base your decisions around a game's system mechanics?" Thanks for watching!
@@RyerOnStream thanks, that makes more sense, I'm still unfamiliar with UNI system mechanics. On the topic of Vatista, I was considering her but charge characters are something I really never was able to get that hang of. We'll see how it goes once I get my hands on the game. Thanks for the answer again and the epic content
MFW I primarily play Orie but I'm a blocker till I die and she didn't show a single time in the blocker section lmao. Otherwise though I do play Yuzuriha and Akatsuki and your descriptions for BARF and BNOS match how I play those two pretty well. Overall pretty cool video and idea, good work!
Yes the vorpal cycle is what I’m talking about here. In a more general sense you could think of it as “how much do I want to use a games system mechanics vs my own characters tools”
I'm mainly just a salty dude, but it's always worth bearing in mind that not everyone knows your terms. In this case, I don't have enough knowledge of UNI specifically to recognize what "The Cycle" is, outside of that it's plainly a game-specific mechanic because turns are already covered by the Mash/Block pair. It's probably super obvious to existing players, but from the outside it's kind of impenetrable. Shame, because the other three categories make perfect sense to me, and probably just to people with a general knowledge of the genre.
At first i thought i was bnrf, then i thought about it and turned out mnof, after hearing both of them ive realised i have no clue what type i am, being pretty new to fighting games is it practical using these types of systems to decide my main?
Written summary of the attributes so you can refer to them without needing to rewind the video:
[M]ash or [B]lock under pressure/in scrambles?
[A]ware or [N]egligent of the Cycle?
How much do you base your decisions around the cycle? If you're new, how much do you want to think about the cycle as you're starting?
[O]ption Selector or [R]eactor on Defense?
Do you want things that you can do from defense without having to think too hard or make a guess? Or do you want to take more risks & make call-outs for greater reward?
[S]cientist or [F]reestyler?
Do you want looping oki/setplay? Or do you want something free-form, and maybe sometimes higher risk higher reward?
This is awesome thank you!
I block. Not because I'm smart or patient. But because I'm afraid. :'3
Real
Quite possibly the best character guide template for a game I’ve ever seen
Thank you that means a lot, Thank you for watching!
Facts. We need a version of this for most fighting games
uhh he really hit me with BARF 🗿
😓I am sorry at how the letters worked out lol
As a BAOF and a Londrekia main im seriously impressed by how well this format fit not only me, but the friends i have that also play!
I love to hear that. Thank you for watching!
The start of a legacy
I really like this dynamic, I am used to character overview but this is much more entertaining, also I love your avatar!
i didnt initially think i was MAOF, but the description fit me and how I play gg sol badguy pretty well. i did also chose linne before watching, so thats pretty cool
Idk why but Editing Ryer is like seeing Perry the Platypus take off his secret agent hat 😂
Really good video! Hilariously, this video is actually a more accurate example of a personality test, since the MBTI archetypes are designed to be as generic as possible to get people to say "That's just like me!" While yours doesn't have that priority.

Not only did I learn about what character I shouldn't sleep on based on my habits, but which of my habits I should keep a check on while playing my favorites!
this exactly what i needed. strive aint hitting like it was and been looking forward to 2uni
i LOVE this system that youve created to match personality types. absolutely brilliant. i myself am a BARF and a merkava enjoyer in past titles. looking forward to seeing more content from you!

Gotta give props, this was spot on. I would say I'm BNRF and Gordeau is probably my favorite fighting game character ever. Great video, can't w8 to show it around again when Uni 2 drops in Jan.
Such a cool format! By choosing your categories and providing this discussion you give scrubs like me so much insight into the game
The first char that came up for my personality type was my main that I've been playing for months now. This guy really knows what he's talking about.
New to Uni and this was a really solid introduction to the characters. Thanks for creating an easy to understand system! MARF btw 😎
Welcome to the community & thanks for watching

goated video. I can't believe I've never seen this till now
Glad you found it! Thanks for watching
Holy shit that gordeau cant keep getting away with that kick
FWIW thought audio sounded fine. I already felt like I was gonna be a byakuya and this made it feel even moreso, great vid and can’t wait
Epic! New sub!
As an MNRF, I thought it was pretty cool! Real accurate too!
I personally main Orie and Secondary Chaos!
6:49 rude. I didn't need to be called out for how much I smart steer to check out how well my opponent blocks

Hey UNI content is UNI content, already the best content out there. Good look into each character, pretty accurate depictions.
Thank you for watching 😊
When I saw the Hilda dash up and vo during the MNRS section I knew it was the group for me. She just like me fr!
Imagine my shock as a Yuzu player since around 2016-2017 is BNRS..
You got me.
With the release of Sys:Celes, would you say there has been changes on this list? And where do the new characters fit in?
I don’t think the core list has changed much. No character does anything that different from the previous version, many of them just do it better.
As for the new characters I’ll have to get some experience with them before placing them
Byakuya seems to have made it into like, a lot of categories lmao

It's funny because I also would consider myself BNOS & I also play Chaos even if it doesn't reward that style as much as another character may
chaos with fox ears 😭

It is absolutely terrifying that I came here looking for a new character to learn/main as someone who hasn’t played much UNICLR and landed in the MNOF category with 2 of the 3 characters I played in there (the third being Eltnum)

MNRS Hilda main here, this is surprisingly accurate
Thanks for watching
This is a really fun way of approaching character recommendations.
I main Es(bbcf) and Sieg(gbvsr), honestly I wish I was more of an MA-- player, but I've seen myself grow into a BARF. Dunno if I'm happy about that.
Start pressing those buttons!
When your play style is sending it, you can play Every character and send it. Gacha Gambler best fighting game style
Me the Gambler playing Waldstein/Hyde/Mika/Wagner/Enkidu
Now that UNI2's been out for a while, how would you say the newcomers fit on this list?
Unfortunately I've not played UNI2 in a long time and don't have the knowledge of the newcomers to make that call. Thanks for watching, though, if I ever can create content on a more fulltime basis I will absolutely revisit this
Considering I main Nanase and am starting to 2nd main Hyde Im in between the 2 types but I like all rounders in general and being able to switch to defense and offense. These 2 chars can do both in different ways. Nanase for more riskier plays while Hyde for consistent pacing.
I think they complement each other well as far as playstyle goes. Thanks for watching!
Very creative video idea! The Rougue was me to a T
Glad you enjoyed!
Eltnum and Hyde ftw. Great character taste. :P
lmao at 7:42, the gameplay is incredible
Love to hear it!
I love this, this is really fun! MARS btw ✌️
idk what a cycle is, i dont play this game lol but cool idea!
Im a grappler main, so i guess im BARF.... although, i definitely like option selects too! in sf4 i had some good ones with gief to beat backdash, and in 6 i have a pretty nifty although technical safejump OS.
But i think I do end up relying more on reactions than OS.
i don't even play uni but i love this video
I love personality tests, nice
I like the whole category system you put together, I haven't played much uni but BARF and MARF fit me to a T.
Will probably end up playing gordeau when the game comes out.
I went in wanting to play eltnum or waldstein but the former doesn't really fit my playstyle it seems (will still try to make her work) and the latter will make me think I'm playing an inferior potemkin cause I hate 360 inputs.
thanks for watching :D
If it helps make things easier I would ask "how much do you base your decisions around a game's system mechanics?"
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching! I love hearing if I was close since I did this mostly for fun.
I'm assuming by cycle you mean getting vorpal but kinda unsure
Yes the vorpal cycle is what I’m talking about here. In a more general sense you could think of it as “how much do I want to use a games system mechanics vs my own characters tools”
7:41 wtf going on in the background? Gordeau straight up pulverising poor akatsuki's ribcage
Dope video lol. BARF phonon main
RYER VIDEO RYER VIDEO
I literally main orie and am experimenting with Wagner and linne... I think you got me lmao
how much of a masher/blocker i am depends on who i'm fighting ngl..of course, MNRS, BNRS, Hilda remains regardless...
Thank you ryer good video
If I pick a character I like and then stubbornly cling to them no matter what... what am I?
You are a fighting game player
The MNFR really is like me fr fr. I don't feel so unique anymore 😂
i think the explanation of all the individual traits should be done in the intro but fun video
Thanks for watching :D
>"I'm making this to help new people!"
>"Are you aware or negligent of a term I don't explain that may or may not be what it sounds like?"
Sorry if that soured the experience :(
I'm mainly just a salty dude, but it's always worth bearing in mind that not everyone knows your terms.
Shame, because the other three categories make perfect sense to me, and probably just to people with a general knowledge of the genre.
came out to mnrs but my main has always been big enkidu, am i capping on the categories?
I don’t think that’s likely the case but only you can answer that question. Thanks for watching!
At first i thought i was bnrf, then i thought about it and turned out mnof, after hearing both of them ive realised i have no clue what type i am, being pretty new to fighting games is it practical using these types of systems to decide my main?
This was mostly a for fun thing. If you’re new the best advice I can give is play who you think looks cool and go from there
@@RyerOnStream alr
Apparently I gotta try mika and gordeaux
gordeau? wald? byakuya? that's a funny way to say orie
