the thing about stress is that, you don't really realize how stress you've been, until your edges send the eviction notice. And, that's when the stress 2.0 really starts. UGH be still our little hairs.

I lost my edges some years ago and I had random amounts of breakage throughout my hair. I realized it was because I was always slicking my hair up into a tight bun and laying my edges. Once I gave up the bun hairstyle and stopped using any gel on my hairline, my edges have come back. I haven’t laid my edges in 4-5 years and I’ve seen the difference. Plus once the hair grew in there I’ve sprouted cute little curls in the area so I’m not even tempted to slick them back. I know the laid edges are a trend, but hair health is more important. Good luck sis- they’ll come back.

Why is hair health more important? Things you do do your hair usually doesn't effect anything else on your body. It's not impossible, but they're the same amount of unimportant.

I live for when influencers break the fourth wall, and let people know hair is a constant process! What we must remember sis, is the body is an living breathing organism. It’s always going through things even when it’s in harmony! My suggestions are invest in a shower filter if you don’t already have one. Because of everything that’s going on, purifying and getting not only your drinking water but the water that we bathe with to alkaline levels helps majorly! Also, make sure you’re really getting all of your front and back edges under the cap when deep conditioning. I’ve definitely noticed a difference of applying and oil to my scalp when deep conditioning helps! Juicing is another way to get that zinc in as well! Lastly, hair texture changes every 7 years apparently. And I’ve noticed it goes through crazy things when it’s in the middle of the cycle, especially due to hormonal shifts and stress levels. I’ve definitely had fall out and thinning that is starting to subside! You got this sis don’t worry just be consistent and smile!!!!!!!

My edges have thinned out drastically in the last 4 to 5 years. But in the last few months I feel like I'm loosing alot of volume. Family say I'm overreacting, but when you're used to having a thick head of hair this is frightening.
I'm 40 and a cancer survivor. Didn't do radiation or chemo, and didn't go bald over it. But it's still difficult to come to terms with because many women in my family experience partial or total hair loss.
I hope things turn around for you.

My edges fell out due to taking care of my mother last summer as she died of lung cancer. My hair said "buh bye". It is sparse density and my edges are thin. She died in July of 2019. I started taking care of my hair again in February. I dab rice water on my edges and put Jamaican black castor oil mixed with peppermint, rosemary and lavender on top of them and leave them alone. My edges are finally growing back in. I have new growth all over my head now. I have also been using fenugreek oil for scalp massages. It is working. Slowly but surely it is working!

I pray and hope your hair grows back. I experienced hair loss because of stress some years ago. It’s very real. My hair will still shed more when I’m stressed although it does not “fall out” anymore. Naturall Products are a top 10 favorite, especially their shampoo and regular conditioner. Once it grows back, just try your best to take extra precautionary measures when you’re feeling stressed or feel it coming on. That is what helped me.

Headbands without any slip (satin/silk underneath) will for sure break your hair off. I went to Hawaii and sported a headband every day, and when I got home, my hair line was back in Hawaii. Seriously!!!! Edges need moisture and no tension, and they will grow back. My edges grew back, but are only about 1/4 of the length of the hair in my front. Baby care, baby care, baby care. Keep it moisturized, eat well, drink plenty of water, and washing my hair more often did help. (co-washing)

Girl when u dropped that deep conditioner, I was like, “you betta pick that up!” 😂 I’ve been noticing some frustrating differences in my hair lately too. My hair is SO dry lately. I have Lupus so I’m hyper focused on my hair health and stress management, my rheumatologist (also natural) is actually the person who persuaded me to go natural since I’m prone to hair loss. I switched to the Lavender CurlMix line recently and it’s like it hates my hair, but I keep trying it with different amounts of product thinking I’m doing something wrong. That NaturAll Club deep conditioner made your hair look amazing before you did anything to it! You’re making me want to return that expensive CurlMix situation and try those NaturAll products. Ima call Tamika too b/c the frustration is real. 😖

Not gonna lie, my edges were thinning and threatening to disappear because I was wearing wigs for work in a corporate environment. No mas! I have ditched the wigs, wig caps etc (they dont work!) and am learning to style my hair in twists. I am currently using an Aloe Vera juice, rosemary and fenugreek spray on my hair and castor oil massages. Definitely need a lot of patience and TLC, no tight styles at all. anybody that does not like my look can a) pick a bridge and jump or b) go hug a transformer!

Phillo why are you putting anything on your edges other than oil? And a toothbrush to boot? These are just going to exasperate the issue. I would suggest applying coconut oil to your edges every night until they grow back. Meanwhile I wouldn’t put anything other than oil on them. Especially not gel, or that rough toothbrush.
FYI, what broke my edges off were not sleeping on satin, micro braids, tight weaves, and gel.

I had to leave heat , high manipulation even using brushes and products that were too heavy -oils or gels on my edges . And no scarf too tight tied and the type of scarves . I literally just wet my edges with a little water and then use the pads of my fingers to “train” / smooth my edges and lightly wrap them up
Fenugreek you can add to your dishes you cook and to your oil and it works . MSM I’ve found helps too. Your stylist is right that you have to feed your body right from the inside out 💕💕

Renee K. Take Maine choice biotin pills it helps promotes hair growth, workout it helps stimulate blood circulation nothing crazy 10 - 15 minutes, don’t do harsh hairstyles that pull on your hair that creates breakage such as slick backs, tight buns, braids, etc, make sure your edges are moisturized 24/7 and also do not put your bonnet directly on your your edges move it up a little to your fore head because it can irritate your edges also do not put your scarf on too tight because that can irritate your edges too. This has help to thicken my edges and fill in the little clear spots 😂. I hope this helps #letthemedgesgrow

Don’t feel defeated. It will grow back.
