      The main problem is that by the 1980's there would be no invasion, the Politburo already decided that Poland was lost and that it would only be a matter of time, but they didn't tell the Polish central committee, because why would they

    • @Pan_Schaboszczak
      @Pan_Schaboszczak 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      Not only is it Hoi4 reference, it's also connected to the fact that polish soldiers in fact stood for 30 days in Hel in 1939. They surrendered on the 2nd of October, over a week after the fall of Warsaw!
      The Hel peninsula is long and very thin, varying from 2km to even 300m of width, so it's easy to block - no surprise it's a great stronghold. Germans in 1945 also held out for a few months until surrendering in may.

    Soviet invasion was unrealistic at that time. There are preserved documents of the Soviet Politburo, that they didn't want invasion of Poland even in the event of the fall of the PZPR. The Soviets were terrified by the vision of a second Afghanistan in the middle of Europe. The Soviet economy was also dependent on food imports from the USA and was also dependent on the export of oil and gas to Western Europe, which required supplies of American technology for the transmission of oil and gas. Carther and then Reagan warned Soviet if they invade they will block all food import and block gas and oil pipline technology export to USSR. There are preserved documents, that in the event of the fall of the PZPR, Brezhnev planned to come to an agreement with the new authorities on the principle of "extended Finlandization".

    HOLY SHIT MAN THIS IS AMAZING, i honestly would not expect for you to make a video on Poland, especially at this degree of quality. And while some things i find personally slightly unrealistic it is honestly a good peice of work. The only major things i would call unrealistic would be elections after the invasion and certaint battles/fights for cities (mainly in the south) as large part of it is i should word it as "not best" for infantry fighting vehicles and tanks and a fast push to the city of Krakow from the Soviet border as this would be very hard to achive within the span of a month. The elections are kinda janked with certaint candidates getting to power before becoming well known to get into such position. Additionaly some minor errors that aren't really noticable but when found are kinda annoying tbh. Overall the rest of the scenario is great, however i see room for improvement after the intervention like attempted intervention into the soviet territories by the Polish authorities during their fall (mainly to the Wilno region as certaint politicians wanted it to become either autonomus within Lithuania/Belarus or to stand independent). I would like to see some more content related to my home country in the future, possibly with maybe the Border crisis or a scenario where the missle found in Poland was actually Russian.
    In short, gud vid

Just their chopper, the air, and the enemy…
    Edit: Same thing with the last polish MiG-23. I’d say it is arguably worse because it is you against the whatever the enemy decides fit to send after a lone aircraft. Imagine the terror the pilot felt when he probably realized that he was merged and outnumbered

      No no, they would. They needed to not antagonize the populace to be able to set up a functional puppet government, like all of this is very obvious, the scenario is well thought out. The video is of top notch quality, however it contains some errors and flaws. For example 2:35 there was no Senate upper house during the Polish People's Republic period, so the Solidarity forces couldn't have stormed it.
    Also, it gets rather boring after the invasion. Nothing really changes apart from certain leaders and minor details. Shouldn't Soviet invasion of one of the key Warsaw Pact members that late into the Cold War alter the future of the region much more drastically? Would Poland transition to democracy that similarly to our timeline? Would NATO still expand that similarly? Would Russia behave that similarly?
    Not to be nitpicky, just want to say there is a room for improvement and greater research.

    Impressive detail and background but also completely unrealistic as far as alternative history goes. The USSR would never have allowed things to go this far and they would have intervened much earlier. Also, the Polish military at the time was closely integrated with the Soviet army and so was the senior officer corps. The majority of regular soldiers might not have liked the Soviets very much but they were isolated for months in their barracks and training areas precisely to keep them in the dark of what was going on. So yes, there would be some scattered fighting and mutinies if the USSR invasion took place, but no massive organized opposition as shown here.

      True to fact, the Polish People's Army would be hard-ass fanatics, however, most were also conscripted and weren't as abusive of the citizens as the ZOMO and Citizens' Milice were, with beating them to death and also using sharp ammunition. They were at best used as watchmen patrolling on the streets during protests or workers' strikes. Since they were conscripts they also showed discontent with their situation and how the government and Citizens' Milice were handling the strikes with brutality. Conscription was mandatory in the country, and those who refused were sent to a psychiatric facility, as per typical Brezhnev-Era fashion.

      Poland would not have lost any land, especially to east germany. At that time, there would be no reason for East Germany or Soviets to get any land, plus all the Germans were relocated between 45-70's. Keeping it under a Polish-Rule government would be most likely, however it is possible for Poland to be devolved into regional districts rather than a single large state.

    In reality, the Soviets had no intent to intervene in Poland, which makes the scenario itself very impossible and also unrealistic. In the words of Yuri Andropov: "Even if Poland falls under the control of Solidarity, that's the way it will be."
    I would make a much better scenario branching off from the Polish resistance activities in WW2, with an OSS-backed paramilitary organization embedding itself within the country, working together with the Home Army until Operation Tempest successfully liberates most of the country from the Nazi's until a Soviet invasion, forcing them to go underground and wage successful guerrilla war against the Polish People's Republic throughout the 1950's, 1960's and 1970's until Early 1981 when a revolution sparked by the paramilitary results in Jaruzelski's death, and formal ending and prosecution of the Communist regime in Poland, soon followed by Lech Wałęsa becoming president until 1992, when he's ousted from power by a coup d'état by Jan Parys following Wałęsa's neglecting of his priorities as president and clashing with his policies and attempts of reform by Prime Minister Jan Olszewski, with Poland having a much greater economy, government and military than in our timeline, with no polarization and no Left/Right-wing divide, but rather a Social-Libertarian benevolent government running the country for 30 years, implementing welfare and stability into Poland, but keeping democracy and freedom of speech during the initial years until elections take place, while maintaining Olszewski in power. What this alternate timeline modern-day Poland May have looked is what i came up with through years of writing.
    Your scenario on the other hand, comes from someone who spent their spare time doing nothing else than misleading propaganda NATOwave edits, feeding off the tabloid media lies of propaganda from the soy media cycle spun ever since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the same one which brands my country as an "economic powerhouse" and "military superpower" despite an overwhelming amount of evidence to the contrary, while in reality my country had gone through 30 years of sh*t instead, and lacks any formal experience in historical research or perspective.
    I just think for the future, you should move on from doing stuff outside of your field of knowledge instead of attempting to do what you have no intent on researching further.
