i agree i recently started riding and ive been cut off a few times now and thanks to my defensive driving it easier to catch the mistakes they do and letting them go without doing anything is alot better than riding distracted yelling at them. ride safe

I keep seeing the main problem here and I see it on the road when I am driving my car... Motorcycles so often are going about 15 or more MPH faster than the traffic around them. I have been driving down the road so many times and you check your mirror and there is nothing there and then a moment later a motorcycle flies by at 15 or more MPH faster than you and you didn't even see it 1 or 2 seconds ago. If you drive a motorcycle please be more careful and understand how small and near invisible you can be when you are a 5th the size of a car and going so much faster... just appear out of nowhere.
U dont ride a bike i suppose? besides u dont just check your mirrors.. u check mirrors, then shoulder check.. i have NEVER hit a bike or a car one way or the other.. i have been close, but always saved it with the shoulder check. And the people who say.. "OMG U WHERE IN MY BLAND ANGLE" doesnt shoulder check. The truth is that haft the ppl who drives a car doesnt deserve or have the brain cells to do so. And for the fact of the 15 mph stuff, we actually learn that shit when we take the licens, use torque to get away and stay safe. Bikers actually dont want to be around cars and trucks, we know we are soft, thats why we have to get away. That being said, there are some idiots out there going 100 mph in city zones.
@@casperknudsen7086 Exactly. While anything can be done in excess of common sense, it's safer for us to work through traffic at 5-10mph faster than all the cars. It keeps us from becoming stuck in someone's blind spot, or sandwiched among traffic stuck behind a couple of slow drivers. People get frustrated, they start doing increasingly stupid things trying to get ahead. Far too many cars thinking bikers are just riding like knobs, and most definitely far too many bikers overreacting to minor things in traffic.
@@cdaniell30 it's really not. speed difference is what gets people killed. constantly going faster than others creates a speed difference. it's not hard to stay out of peoples blind spot, then slow back down to the limit. all vehicles have the same problem to avoid (other peoples blind spot), not just motorcycles, and cars don't have to speed to do so. this mentality is why so many people get killed on motorcycles. you guys just don't get it and then wonder why people get killed. these driving laws are in place for a reason, if everyone followed them there would be minimal casualties.
@@n_u001 You're not taking into account the fact that a car's blind spot to a motorcycle is much larger relative to the bike, and the fact that it's much easier for a car driver taking a quick glance at the mirror or even a quick shoulder check to not even notice the bike even though it's right there. People will look right at you and then swerve into you anyway. So no, the safest thing for a motorcycle is to not be anywhere that a car even has the ability to swing over on me...which means using my speed to maneuver and create space for myself.
@@cdaniell30 thats not the point. The point is you can just as easily get out of a cars blind spot just like any other car getting out of another cars blind spot. I am aware motorcycles are less visible in a blind spot than a car, but both vehicles can just as easily avoid them (its not an exclusive problem to only motorcycles), meaning that its an excuse to constantly be above the limit. If any other car can avoid other cars blind spots without speeding, so can motorcycles.

There are a few who seem to hang out in people's blind spots just to show us how bad car drivers are for changing lanes 'right into them!'. Others are approaching intersections where a car is starting to pull out. The rider SPEEEDS UP only so they can yell, rev bomb, and/or break the mirror. Stuff like that. But the point is, the same riders do the same crap in their various submissions.

@jbdelaney The biker did nothing wrong - 100% the fault of the car that pulled out.
The Highway Code allows you to filter through two lanes of opposing traffic as long as there I a broken white line - which there was.
It also says when turning or using junctuons to watch for other road users, such as cyclists and motorcyclists, that may be obstructed by other vehicles - which is what happened.
Slight question of the other oncoming car - not sure if he flashed to let the car out or to warn the biker. In either case though, still the emerging vehicle at fault.

Bad road, water doesn't run off but it looked like the first car was smart and slowed down not trying to spray him. Long day work and he's just trying to get home, I've had to ride in the rain as well.

Because the car driver is looking the other way for oncoming traffic, not expecting a bike to be filtering. One reason filtering in most situations ain't a great idea.

Yeah he was wrong jumping in your lane but you should have expected it and been prepared. This is common behavior in city traffic these days and you need to understand that people can't see you. In general you are right about the sun, but that is very easy to say in retrospect. This is a very hilly and winding road that I am not really familiar on, so it's obviously easy to get the sun in a less than ideal angle. However, she has done pretty much everything she could do to make that mistake. She has placed her car in the middle of the road and angled it to the left, making it hard for herself to look to the right. She had a passenger, but if you look in the clip, you never see her head popping forward, so she didn't even care to look. She is in the sun, but there are houses behind me so the sun is pretty high actually. You can look on my channel and see other similar clips of people not being able to see me. I always wear a camera because I don't speed in stupid places and try to take precautions, but if I go down one day, they won't be able to say "you were going soooo fast and driving recklessly". To this day I have not been involved in any accidents, so obviously I'm driving within my limits. And the videos are great for other riders (and drivers) to see. The driver and passenger stopped after a few minutes at a small grocery store and I confronted her about the incident. The driver was a young girl and she had no idea what I was talking about. She did not see me, did not hear my horn and did not know which intersection I was talking about....

Different vehicles, different braking and handling properties. Secondly if a bike hits your car they get hurt, and you get a dent. If your car hits a bike they can get seriously hurt and you get a dent.
