Why I ask for support through Patreon:
I love the firearms community and am thrilled to be able to give back to it by way of producing content for it. I want to both continue my pace of content production as well as improve its quality, all while adding to its diversity (shooting for accuracy videos, destructive target testing, high speed / slow motion, etc).
Appearances aside, I am not just some rich guy with a ton of guns. I had a good job and ideal set of circumstances for a few years that allowed me to invest heavily in building up a sizeable collection. Those circumstances are changing, and now I am turning to the community to help continue to make this channel exciting and successful. Your help and support are greatly appreciated.
All funds received by TH-cam (very insignificant as firearms videos are largely demonetized) and by supporters via Patreon are to be reinvested into this channel in the following ways:
    - Purchase and import of new feature firearms/gear: Being in Canada, it is often difficult for manufacturers/distributors to send me firearms for testing and review. Instead, I often have to purchase them personally, and in some cases even import them into the country.
    - Ammunition: It takes funds to run the guns enough to be able to get a good overall impression for an accurate review.
    - Production value: I am always looking to add better camera and lighting gear to be able to improve the final product you see.
    - Range and targets: from more static steel targets, to future destructive target testing.
    - Travel to distributors/manufacturers/industry shows to get the content on the latest and greatest

Thanks for checking out my Gun 101 overview video on the Robinson Armament XCR-M in .308. This is the large frame version of the XCR rifle. It is multi caliber and with a quick change barrel, bolt and mag it can be run in .308, .243 win, .260 rem, and 6.5 creedmoor. Check out my First Person Shooting video of the XCR-M rifle and M96 Stoner 63 clone, as well as the other Gun 101 and Field Strip videos on the Robinson Armament rifles in my collection.
The XCR is personally my favourite modern semi auto rifle platform. Even though the FN Scar 17 won the SCAR program, I believe this rifle, especially in .308, is superior in its ergonomics and its quick barrel change system.
The Robinson Armament XCR family of rifles is non-restricted in Canada dependent on barrel length. Models with 18.5"+ barrels are non restricted, and rifles with barrels shorter than that are restricted. Both examples are shown in this video. The long guns are legal to own with a PAL, and the short barrel rifle requires a RPAL. I am properly licensed for these firearms.

I was debating buying a SCAR 17s. I liked them given accuracy, reliability, and great looks.
What turned me off was the trigger, polymer lower, hard on optics, and most important cost. After a new trigger and you are approaching $4K with the SCAR. So I bought the Robinson xcr-m and a CZ Bren 2 for a little more than the price of the SCAR 17s by it self.

Sure, Canadian cities have a more euro vibe, but the overall culture is more similar to the US than Germany or France (Montreal, QB isn't part of the equation. I do not understand why their products have to be so very expensive. Probably has something to do with "economy of scale" where they are not "mass producing / mass manufacturing" because when making "things" on a larger scale, cost-per-unit decreases as a result due to a variety of factors versus small-scale-manufacturing....

also these are astonishingly accurate with good ammo. Mine (18" heavy barrel 308) shoots 1/2 moa with Hornady ELDx (and a powerful scope!). Key: I think a rigorous initial barrel break in/copper fouling helps ... One shot, then wire brush (20 - 80 strokes)/patch clean until no powder shows on the patch, then take another shot, clean etc. ... For 1/2 moa accuracy, I have found (so far) best to quick-clean the barrel with a patch, to remove powder after about 8 shots, other wise tends closer to 1 moa, Darn! [chuckle, wink!] Also, super easy to clean. Hardly need to do this however, as runs so clean, vs. an AR action that gets sooted up after even one shot. God's Love for Robinson Arms!

Because when a loaded magazine is inserted, and for instance, stored in condition 1, if someone (a child for instance) figured out how to charge the gun and chamber a round, you could at LEAST have a secondary preventative measure of a activated safety engaged already to give a little more assurance of not having the gun fire negligently. If you train to disengage the safety before firing as all proficient shooters should, it’s no big deal to disengage it anyways so why would someone want to take the option to engage it no matter what condition the gun is in anyways!?

So not only do you need a license for it, but your property does too? 🙄 leave it to the government

In my humble opinion, ambi is very over rated. Of course I prefer it but it’s very unnecessary, I’m a right handed firer, only use from that position, having the ability to actuate as a lefty is something I’ll most likely probably never need just like 99% of us. My weapons are for me, not for anyone else’s preference

@@ravenguard7484 Hey! I'm a true believer in this rifle. I have several. One of my SBR uppers has gone over 8000 rds without cleaning just to see if it would gum up and quit. The test was getting sort of long and expensive so I quit oiling it to sabotage the test a bit. Went almost another 800 rounds before it started hanging up. When it became 3 or 4 rds in a magazine, I oiled it and went another 340 rounds without incident. I gave up at that point trying to kill this thing. Lol... Cleaning it after all those rounds and 7 months of getting into everything took two hours to get out! So worth knowing if it's a good gun or not though... It is. I know Alex is at the shot show now. He's just doing business with suppliers and vendors though. No booth this year. These rifles are GTG! Have fun!

@@dolphinshooter2871 Wow. Now that’s a reliability test. I definitely shouldn’t have any concerns.
Looking at the 12 and 16 right now. However, I thought the 14.7 might be a good compromise. Not sure if you would know, but are they pinned and welded?
I’m left handed so an ambi charging handle would have made this an easier decision. But, believe someone pointed out you only have to charge it once and A LOT of right handers shoot AKs and have no problems.

@@ravenguard7484 I'm not sure if the the short barrels are pinned or welded. All my shorty's are just threaded. The scar mk17 is nice no doubt but because of the short length short stroke gas system and the massive bcg the recoil impulse is heavy mostly because it was never designed for a 16in barrel, that would be comparable to a AR-10 with a 18" barrel carbine length gas system. Unlike the scar the XCR-M's come with an appropriate length gas system depending on cartridge type, gas pressure and barrel length not to mention they have caliber conversion kits for the 243, 260 and 6.5 Creed. For me and most of my sport shooting group this rifle system is one of the most modular high quality smooth shooting BR's out there and yes it is totally worth the money and there's a few aftermarket manufacturer's if you feel the need. God bless and Happy shooting.
