This just proves that creativity is not about the tools you have, but how you use it. Laurie Anderson is still the greatest avant-garde multimedia artist! She always was far ahead of our time.
I feel like she might be one of the most underrated sampled artists. I’ve personally had so much fun pulling samples from her work and making them into something new
PIlotrcm - "How do they afford that kinda equipment" is the wrong question. Gear doesn't produce Laurie Anderson's output. Give her a $10 microphone and she'll put the TH-camr with 10 x H3000's to shame.
I think Laurie gets her money from concerts, record sales, art installations, and lectures. And I believe she has received art grants in the past as well.
@PIlotrcm - For about $3k you could stuff a home studio filled with old gear from this era, no problem. A Korg M1 for example recently sold on Ebay for $300. In the 80s, Laurie's studio however was probably in excess of $1m. Her Synclavier alone was likely around $100k.
@Phil Anderson: Korg offers M1 apps on a variety of platforms that include every option ever offered for the hardware and add options not available in any hardware configuration. And Arturia's Synclavier V VST was created in cooperation with Cameron Jones, one of the original programmers.
Whats disturbing is not the fact that she has this kinda of equipment, it's that I've seen people on TH-cam with more equipment that she has...how the hell they afford it is beyond me.
She still had the Roland VP 330 Mk1 Vocoder Synth that she used so heavily on O Superman... Didn't see the Oberheim OBXa also from the same era however... I wonder, do you think she still has most of this gear?
@rg2027x I think she breaks it down into smaller, simpler pieces, that in the end becomes a more complex unity. Music is not hard if you can pinpoint each part of it, individually.
@sasarasa88: It is indeed! Very good eye. And thanks for bringing that album back onto my radar. Listening to it for the first time in many years. Interesting that you mention presets. Purists sneer at them but in the hands of an artist, any instrument can be put to good use.
LAURIE ANDERSON IS AWESOME!!!!!!, the dj
She is a musical genius. Unbelievably creative.
Still, light years ahead of the pack.!
This just proves that creativity is not about the tools you have, but how you use it.

You can cite Roger Waters from the DSOTM recording interviews. He says that there.
Laurie knew how to work it. Wish we had visionary, truly creative artists like her in today's 'music'....(sigh)
Have you tried Bat for Lashes (Natasha Khan)?
I feel like she might be one of the most underrated sampled artists. I’ve personally had so much fun pulling samples from her work and making them into something new

Awesome talent!!
immense EXPENSIVE material for a home studio in the 80 ties !!!!!
she's great.
She's so fucking cool,i think i love her
reminds me of my old stuff, nightmare of cables and sweating from the heat coming from the electronics.
She was so beautiful, and I STILL can’t believe that she’s a little old lady now! Peace.
Older - just older x
Heila'Miss. Laurie!! Le mando un saluto da Milano, e anche un "ciao"
Francesco Paolo

In response to your question of how did Laurie Anderson get her dough for her gear....
Dimples.
Whats disturbing is not the fact that she has this kinda of equipment, it's that I've seen people on TH-cam with more equipment that she has...how the hell they afford it is beyond me.
Now that's geeky. Still rules.

Jeez, 3 H3000 ? OMG.
Mr. Reinterpret Cast and those two lexicons, too.
Laurie Anderson is the shit!!
hey, where did you get this footage from? Is there a longer version avaible?
Is that a Korg M1 at around 0:16? The factory presets of the M1 are everywhere in The Ugly One with the Jewels.

eventide harmonizer
where does this cover of streets of laredo comes from?
1:20
Where can I find this song?
Am I the only one who finds her attractive?
Of course not. She's very attractive. She's a very talented artist. And she makes me laugh. I love women with humour sense
Stunning!
Not at all. A pretty face, nice figure, great personality and gobs of talent. Just not nearly enough women like that to go around.
I would give anything in the world if I could turn back time and turn myself into the kind of man who could merely draw her attention.
@@timothypruitt4578 The perfect woman, beautiful and intelligent. Lou reed was a lucky man.
KATE MCKINNON OF SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE (who plays Shillary) LOOKS JUST LIKE LAURIE!
astrology gf meets hacker bf
if think john lennon should have met laurie anderson he would have kick yoko aside an least laurie had more talent
Yes because that woman beater John Lennon could have had anyone who he wanted. What a boring person you must be.
^ sucks to be both of you
