I'm an old metalhead. I'm allover the place. Soilwork is a biggie for me. That said, Sleep Token is absolutely one of the most incredible, innovative, talented bands I've heard in years. I love it all. His voice is God-like. His lyrics are next level. This is the future of music. No more genres, just great songs.

I feel that. I also am an old metal head. But that doesnt mean I can ONLY enjoy the sterotypical metal sound. I dont listen to music to impress other music listeners. Metal takes stylistic roots and inspiration from many genres. Also music is an artform. Lets say I like oil paintings, but i can recognize the talent in a watercolor painting, and enjoy what is expressed.
Take their new album, write down the track list, tape it to the wall, and throw a dart. Whatever you hit will be a banger. There’s a reason multiple frontmen for other bands/groups have labeled Sleep Token as “Your favorite band’s favorite band.”
Aqua Regia has been my favorite song in years. So smooth, simple yet complex, so rich and beautiful.

I’ve been playing this song so much for weeks now that my hotel neighbor Jerry knocked on my door last night and said, “hey man, could you turn the music down or maybe play a different song?” I told Jerry, “do me a favor and back up from my door step real quick and also lick my sleep token nuts ya little ungrateful shit!” “Learn to love sleep token or I’ll summon vessel on your little weak eared pu$$y ass and that’ll be the end of it!” …needless to say, I haven’t heard from Jerry again.

Euclid was simply wonderful. Honestly could be my favorite but it's hard to choose.
Ascensionism really got me thinking, 'damn, these guys are really, really, REALLY good.' Euclid is a beautiful ending to the album and one to experience after the others, IMO. 🤓

Fun fact: Aqua Regia translates to Royal Water. It is one of the few acid mixtures that can dissolve gold.
The jazz piano caught me by surprise. If your mind is stuck in one genre, you will not like them. If you have diverse music tastes, then you will love them! 👍🏾

I'm always thinking,"Me too!!", after I read the positive comment that someone has left, so I like the comment to let them know I feel the same way. As a metal head, I love this band and they've earned the title as my current favorite band. I am one of the metal heads that listens and enjoys many genres. I can't see myself sticking to one or being an elitist but metal us usually what I listen to most.

Pretty much all metalheads but one, that I know, love this album. With the risk of sounding elitist AF: Those I've seen hating on it have been one of two things: 1. Stubborn metalheads that think anything soft is "gay" or "pop" (so strange). - or - 2. Musically untalented, no musical bone in their bodies. Now, non musical people are welcome to have preferences and opinions, OBVIOUSLY, but they do NOT speak for the metalscene. The singer of Slipknot loves them, as well as many other prominent figures. The metalscene as a whole loves them for what they're doing. Music teachers, metal musicians, musicians in all walks of life appreciate these guys. Indie kids, proggers, jazzers and metalheads unite.
EDIT: I am aware I sound like an awful person. I promise I'm not usually mean to non musical people hahaha, they just be expressing their opinions in a silly way and it bugs me. Like "their sound isn't for me" is fine. But they say that they're NOT good?? Bruh, that's just objectively untrue. Absolutely skilled musicians and managed to do exaaactly what they set out to.

You hit the nail on the head with your opening statement. People want to hate them, which is weird because fans of ST want everyone to enjoy them if you don’t like them. Any kind of gate keeping in music is just bad for the genre because it causes potential fans to be left out because purists don’t think they’re worthy and then the genre declines.

I just can't with this band... I have a similar reaction to Ghost. They are all very talented, but I just can't do the pop metal thing.... It comes across as extremely over-the-top, taking itself too seriously, with a nice layer of cheeeeeese for good measure. To each their own, of course. Just being honest. I'm sure I'm not the only one.
I just don't like the guy's voice in Ghost, bleh, but I get what you're saying because I am basically new to Sleep Token and my initial reaction was melodramatic angst meets Phantom of the Opera, ha. But I listened to the new album and damn if over half the songs didn't get stuck in my brain and I kept going back to relisten and now I am mildly obsessed! They just hit something inside me in this particular moment that resonates with me and I just took off my critical analysis glasses and flowed with their way of making music. Now I can say I am starting to listen to some songs off their previous albums and there are some songs off all their albums that I really can't stop replaying!
