- If it were not for Fred Warner, this would have been a lot more ugly than it was, as the 49ers fall to the Minnesota Vikings, 23-17, in Week 2.

@rainmaker6335 without brandon aiyuk the game woulda been a blowout. He kept us in the game with his 4 catches for 43 yards.
Reporters need to start asking Shanahan about why his receivers aren't getting open. I have zero clue how Purdy completed 75% of his passes on a day where there was ZERO separation on most of those throws. He had to eat probably 4 of those sacks as just not having someone to throw to (and Purdy thinks someone is open if they even have the slightest angle) more than the rush being fantastic.
Even Deebo looks out of shape

Deebo looks decent but something is off. He doesn’t look the same at all! To be honest are receiving corp isn’t scaring anyone right now at least.
Time for Kyle to be held accountable…a lot of talent for submaximal play. That falls on coaching. Period.

Brian Flores ( and of course the players who executed it )was able to 'scheme up' ways to make Purdy look bad, or at the very least average, two years in a row now. But geniuses like this guy just keep sleeping on it.
When you get out-coached, and out-executed, like the 49ers were, it shouldn't be a mystery that they lost.

This looks like the same team that faced the Chiefs last Super Bowl. 6 sacks turnovers dropped punt returns blocked punts. Loss of the red zone offense.

Hi Matt, thanks for telling it like it is and that's what people love about you. You are so calm with your criticism without taking personal shots. We had a great opportunity to end the 32 year drought in Minnesota and everything just @#$%ed up. Just read your harsh grades across the board and they were well said.
Vikings controlled that game in all phases.
They need to start taking the Preseason seriously again!

I actually liked the decision to go for it on 4th down. Shannahan is often too conservative, and it was good to see.
9 times out of 10 it works out in some way, either with a score or a resulting punt after the turnover because it’s so hard to play backed up.

Pass protection on the right side was very solid. McKivitz looked good, Puni continues to shine.
If the O-line can’t dominate the Vikings then they have no chance against the Chiefs, which has to be the goal to win the Super Bowl. Games are won and lost in the trenches. It’s not easy but the unsung heroes of the O-line have to step up otherwise we have no chance again this year.
This game felt like 2014, where the lone bright spot for the 9ers was a linebacker

What pisses me off is people think the Vikings should just lay down for great teams and beat up on the bad. Players and teams get paid to play and Win, it's up to teams to stop them. Quit making excuses and play the games.
That's exactly the problem though. They are paid to win games, the 49ers have the highest paid offense in the league and they put up 17 pts. That's unacceptable. If you can't score more than 17 pts, then you aren't worth what you are being paid.

We couldn’t even get the plays in. Snapped the ball with 1-3 seconds I don’t know how many times. Vikings were ready to tee off. Still letting guys through with no contact straight to Purdy!
Stinker of a game! Only Fred Warner played! Secondary is very suspect against passing QBs! This is a different team without CMC! No way this team makes it to the Super Bowl. Some bad calls by Shanahan.
Horrible play calling at different intervals and started that way on first drive. No Jordan Mason from the 2 on 4th down? Too many predictable pass plays. Trent Williams rusty Kyle unable to adjust and got outcoached again.

How much time do the 49ers spend practicing on astroturf? Players were slipping all over the place.
Going for it on 4th down 3X is pretty stupid on KS, the first try was luck, the 2nd and 3rd were fails. Should have taken the FG to tie the game consider they only score 17 total points and were 2/10 on 3rd downs so why would you go 3X on 4th? And it's short week road game in a stadium you haven't won for 25+ years... come on Kyle. And on defense Odum is not it, why Mustapha was inserted and they really need Huf back and Yadom is the weak link in the secondary behind Ward and Demo, they need to hope R Green is better and ready to step in before the playoffs... and TW & selfish BA missing TC is not helping, hopefully BA finally shows up vs the Rams or they really need to put Cowing in there instead of Ronnie Bell..
You can't use the end of game stats to make your point on the 4th downs. C'mon.
atrocious play calling in the first half...and too little too late for adjustments. Mason should have been given the ball on 2 different drives to punch it in or juice. passing without a good Aiyuk or Pearsall or CMC was not smart.
Shanahan is becoming a liability to winning. He came back to Minnesota this year to lose again.

The offense really was not together, with all the injuries and two hold outs, until the first game. Its hardly surprising the timing and communication on the line is not where it needs to be. Same happened with long hold outs before. They are going to have to own it and get it together. Even Purdy wouldn’t put up a great defense of BA’s play today and he is one to generally turn all the issues to “it starts with me”. It’s the operation of the offense as a whole that has to come together. But seriously, what is our problem on special teams every year? I don’t get it. All the love for Mitch, even he had to grab the ball and come up with a run last year because punt coverage was breaking down…only to have a great play on his part called back for holding 🙄
Kyle needs to start having these guys do two minute drills on top of scheming for blitzes this game was on Kyle 100% Dude get it together instead of partying with your players it’s time to win a championship. I wonder how many Super Bowls we would have if Andy Reid was coaching our team.

The better team won. The Vikings gave you turnovers on their part also so that wasn't it. The Vikings just have better and deeper overall players than the 49ers. Darnold may not be a GREAT QB but he is very good. This could have very easily been a blow out, beat down if the Vikings didn't make so many mistakes. See you in the plat-offs if you can get there.

Let’s not get too excited about Darnold..he easily made some bonehead plays and probably will continue to do it. Take out the one long pass and the Niners likely win an ugly game. Now it’s just an ugly loss. Tighten up that secondary. Please.

I said it before the game. Vikings only needed there “C-Game” to beat the 49ers. And that’s about what they did. should’ve won by three touchdowns. Warner and Bosa are the only two 49ers, who could start for the Vikings defense. The 49ers are too small. I said before the game they would get pushed around. Your analysts dont know what they’re talking about.
Just homerism. Every team has them. Vikings team is deep and was laughable when ESPN picked them to have the number one draft overall next year. They might not be Super Bowl contenders, but they’ll never tank and give you a 1-16 season like some teams do.
@@Bryan-od7nv everything you said is right. I’m not a homer. I live in Florida. I really like the 49ers too. Shanahan is my favorite coach. I think the 49ers and Vikings are very similar teams. And I’m glad the Vikings are moving in that direction. But it was pretty easy to handicap this game.
