    The QT40 and QT60 are awesome radios (same as the Anytone ARES2 and AT-5555Nii).
    I use my QT60 on 10m and 12m all the time. It is a fantastic performer. (And it was designed to do this, it's a feature). 👍

    I have that same radio. I got the programming cable . and with Digi rig and anytone cable set I have been using digital modes on the radio. FT8 and JS8 call will work. both 10 and 12 meters. I sent and received SSTV pic's on 11 meters. and you can POTA with that radio. just keep power down on digital modes. I use a AMP. and I did most contacts portable with end fed half wave or coax antenna T2LT . 10 meter repeaters are a bit tricky. have to keep CTCSS/DTS chart handy. I changed the display to my call sign did say QT-60 . I changed the SWR protect to 3:1 at came set a 20:1 . getting FT8 to work was a challenge using volume on radio and mic gain and settings on WSJT-x . JS8 call was tricky to set up but MMSSTV was easy ! and you can program your own roger beep great for 11 meters. use the Anytone program software from anytone . easy down load . Radioddity and anytone has the program cable. 73's

    12m is awesome at the minute. Nice rig! Do you know of any mobile antennas that would cover 10,11 and 12m without a tuner?

    • @MidlifeRenaissanceMan
      @MidlifeRenaissanceMan 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You’re asking a lot. To get the bandwidth, you’ll need a longer and / or thicker antenna to get a wide bandwidth
      If you’re mobile, you’re typically limited to around 6’ for an antenna.
      You could get an antenna with a tunable stub at the top to give you resonance and a nice SWR across say 500KHz, maybe a little more with a capacitance hat, but without some sort of tuning, adjustment ability you’ll not get that 25-29Mhz bandwidth on such a short mobile antenna.
      As far as I understand.
      There are plenty of long 18-20’ antennas that will work across the top of the HF spectrum.
      For my 10m mobile, I adjust my antenna for either the CW portion or the voice portion. I can kind of get both at once, but my antenna is a little short.

      @@MidlifeRenaissanceMan thanks mate! I have been using a sigma power stick 4ft on a clamp mount mobile with my Yaesu 891 and it works well on 10m (it is a copy of the fire stick with the screw tip) but will not work 'as is' on 12m. Might have to try the whip with a small coil (tapped possibly). 73 from the UK.

      Make a longer tip for 12mm and swap it out as needed. Use your NanoVNA and remember to have the smith chart turned on so you can see the complex impedance. Makes it easier when adjusting the length. Longer is inductive, so shorted. Shorter is capacitive so more length

    Have just bought one. It's a nice radio and has a good receiver but it has various issues. The CW frequency seems to be offset from the actual frequency on the 10mb beacons - it tunes in better with the clarifier but that effects knowing the actual frequency. 12mb seems ok. The first bank - A - does not go below Ch9. It's a nightmare - very time consuming - to program. It does not use a spreadsheet compatible text file (eg .csv) that can be easily set up. There seems to be some twisted logic in the software design rather than keeping it simple and easy to set up and operate. I had to program it with the AT5555N QPS5555N_II 3.0.0 app. Bonus is that it allows programming for 60ch per bank and provides for more menu options. Would love Anytone \ Radioddity to sort out the various SW issues and issue firmware and programming app updates.

      @@ch716 it’s funny, but cranking it to a dollar will give you half an S point, but I reckon I few things would get that nice baked look after a few months.
      5W to 15W on an old 11m rig was doable, but there’s a lot more current involved at 100W. 3dB can be picked up on a well built antenna. Maybe not as easy on a car, but you can drive to that elevated ridge for an extra couple of S points.
