The green woodworking course that I attended was held by the Northmen Guild in Latvia! If you haven't seen their youtube channel here it is: www.youtube.com/@northmenguild If you want to do the same course as I did or any other by the Northmen check out this link: northmen.com/en/courses/traditional-joinery-and-green-woodworking/apply-for-a-course For the past three years the Northmen Guild have been working on a unique project, the construction of a historically faithful, timber framed forging workshop to act as a new centre for the Guild’s blacksmiths. Their aim is to create a space where blacksmiths from all corners of the globe will be welcome to practise their craft, share their expertise, and create beautiful and functional works of art. It will also be open to the public to visit as part of the wider woodworking museum and forest park at “Vienkocu Parks, Ligatne." A further aim for the forge is to educate beginners, amateurs and enthusiasts by offering intensive, two to three week long training courses in blacksmithing, similar in style to the woodworking course I attended. Designed and constructed in large part by a small team headed by master blacksmith and timber framer Soeren Uhlmann, the building has risen steadily over the months and now stands close to completion. One final push is necessary to finish and round off the project. Whilst the building stands ready, it is empty of much of the specialist equipment required for a fully equipped, multi functional blacksmithing workshop to reach its full potential. If you want to support the project, please follow the link to their crowdfunding project below. 4fund.com/yuewuw
Thank you Erik for bringing back the good memories and making this very nicely shot and edited movie. It’s great to look at our course through your lens and channel.
is it possible to get an update on an order from you guys? i brought an axe from Northmen 13 months ago (still haven't received it yet) and would love an update on it so i know about when i can expect it, my order number is 7552
I admire you Erik, you have already built your own cabin and regardless, you still have the desire to upgrade your skills...congratulations young man🤝🏻 The skills displayed in that workshop are just awesome!
just cashually watching your videos when i suddenly see a shot not only form the central station from the city where i live but also the exact train that i take everty single day, thats crazy
Men At Work...how sweet the sound! For just a moment, when you arrived back at your cabin, I thought the table that so many had labored on during this video had made the journey back with you! But your table appears a bit thicker and heavier duty, but still a beautiful piece of work! Enjoyed the video, and I hope you'll continue to make things by hand and sell them! Take Care!
What a great place, you must have had a great learning experience. I get the feeling that you could stay there for years and never run out of projects and things to learn.
What a fantastic opportunity to learn from true masters. I find it interesting that English is the universal language that allows people from nearly all parts of the world to easily communicate with each other. We Americans live a very insulated life already possessing a universal language within the confines of our own country, but we struggle mightily when we visit foreign countries.
Let’s say it’s the year -2000 and you are naked in the forest, with access to iron ore as well, and you want to build a wooden Church. What are the first 100 tools you build in chronological order?

@@alexkarlsson660 Perhaps in the abstract, no. If we come down to earth and look at this actual video, the lathes and rasps they are using do not come cheap. Nor does the wood itself.
@@ZephaniahL wood can be found for free if you know where to look. Some people make crazy things out of just pallet wood. A lathe is rarely needed, but if you want one there is a variation you can build that doesn't require electricity. Again, materials can be found cheap/free depending on where you look. You can also join some woodworking group that shares a workshop. I know someone who does that, and I've done the same but for blacksmithing, which is far more expensive if you build a whole forge yourself

why was there a shot of a dutch trainstation xD 00:45
I recognized it immediately too! 😂
👍✌️
Whoa. That train station is very clearly a Dutch one. Are you telling us you travelled from Sweden to Latvia via The Netherlands?

I love your work! Do you live in the cabin you built? Would you ever consider offering guided tours/camping experiences to the public?
I dont know if traveling from Sweden to Latvia via Utrecht central is the most efficient route.

When are you building a front porch for the cabin?
Lol funny, i brought an axe from Northmen 13 months ago (still haven't received it yet)

"Learn Woodworking"? it looks like you're already a master at it😂😂😂

Did you go there to "learn" woodworking or "teach" it?
You don't actually live in the cabin though do you?
Start with the first video. Yes.

I do hope we keep those Somali-Swedes a good distance away from those knives, moreover, now that you've let yourselves be invaded.
