Life changing. I play centerfield in slow pitch and have struggled to throw hard. Thanks to your video and great mechanics breakdown, I now know why. I was not aware of my arm angle relative to my shoulder tilt. Thanks again for your great explanation. I can't wait to see what I am capable of after throwing correctly.
bahahaha thank you! Well, at least we can improve instruction going forward. Even 10 years ago there wasnt all that much on the baseball side, where tons of money and research exists.
As a coach I really love those moments that show me why what I have been teaching is not giving the results I expect. Thanks for opening my mind. Any iconoclastic comments on the pitching motion also
My daughter been complaining about pain starting from shoulder and side of arm. I’m an old baseball player. You have very good points. I’ve been teaching her to stay away from side arm. You make very good points. We have been watching your videos. We gotta watch this one together. Let you know how it goes Thank you very much
Great stuff Dan you have really helped me clean up a lot of flaws within my teams throwing mechanics, 14u kids that could barely crack 50 now hitting 60.
That’s great - the potential is there in all of them. Too many girls aren’t tapping into it, and I hope that changes. Thanks for teaching the game - you’re making a difference.
Great stuff! Thanks a bunch for this. I’ve got 12U girls but I don’t think this is too complicated for them. I can boil it down a little for them, but the principles are definitely something they can latch onto now to help them down the road. Now off to look for your sidearm teaching video(s)!
Thank you for this video. I’m teaching my daughters 8,9 how to throw and have been telling them wrong from what I was taught as a kid... arm back, make a L with forearm and come over. But they seem to drop their elbow and more of a pushing ball instead. I will utilize these techniques and hopefully improve their throws!
Dan, great videos on throwing mechanics. I'm wondering if I can use your advice to help my son refine his technique for baseball. Are there any differences in throwing a baseball vs. a softball that I should be aware of in applying your lessons?
No, not really - this one here 100% applies to baseball without interpretation. There's lots of overlap between my two channels, but I haven't recorded a baseball video on this topic (I clearly should, though)
Awesome stuff buddy. I have been playing for many many years and how do we break the habit of being on top of the ball?!?!? I cannot throw as far as I use and i see why now?? Any suggestions on how to break yourself from getting on top of the ball when you throw????
Coach, can you suggest how to correct a girl’s throwing... she understands what you’re saying, bit having trouble making her arm actually do what she sees//
I have a number of drills in my youtube channel that help correct mechanics. Beyond that, I work with select players remotely and sell an online throwing course called She's Got a Cannon that helps you correct mechanics on your own.
I email out all my new videos. ✅Sign up here👉 danblewett.com/dan-blewett-softball-newsletter/
Great stuff, this should be taught by coaches in all areas, thanks Dan

Great to hear!
Your videos are the holy grail... I'm 41, where was this basic info when I was a kid??

I dont know anything about softball pitching, but in the spirit of being the best iconoclast I can be, I'll look into it.

Bro I really love and appreciate all your coaching. You're awesome.
This is fantastic. I see very few videos that break down proper throwing technique. Good stuff.
Glad it helped
This is absolutely the best throwing form/technique I’ve seen! Great job sir! New subscriber for sure!
Thanks and welcome

I love your content, helps me in my slow pitch game.
I’m glad - the day you stop playing is the day you become officially old. Don’t give it up.

no easy fixes, takes consistent hard work and good plan
Thanks for sharing. I have struggled with throwing Mechanics in soft ball I am an infielder an have have a hard time throwing accurate.
Glad it’s helping! Thanks for watching.
Hey - great break down of the throwing mechanics and the "why"! Do you work out of a facility in the DC area? Or do clinics?
I do clinics, yes, and am starting to book them now for the upcoming months, but don't work out of a facility in DC. Email me at hello@danblewett.com
Question. How does this correlate with catchers throwing to second when we want a
sorry im not sure what youre asking
Does this hold true for catchers. Do you have any video analysis of catchers
It holds true for every player, yes. Here’s a recent catcher video with a lot of slow mo: th-cam.com/video/VgGEZDE_giU/w-d-xo.html
Are you doing any in-person lessons / training or did you close your facility? Thanks!
I sold my academy last summer. I’m based in Washington DC and am open to lessons only within DC city limits at an outdoor location.

good info
Glad it was helpful!
On average how much velocity can they gain by correcting the angle of the throw?
Quite a lot but giving a number isn’t realistic. Highly dependent on the player and mechanics.
Basically keep your throwing finger tips behind the ball but in line with your shoulder tilt. Simple way to get it across during practice
yes

What do you mean coming “ OVER THE TOP “ ?
Common term generally meaning an 11 o clock arm slot
