Why did you use vinegar and not isopropyl alcohol?

Good question. You certainly could use isopropyl alcohol and it would do a great job cleaning the site. The advantage of vinegar in this situation is that it will buffer any spilled alkaline battery fluid. Thank you for the comment! 👌
