I always enjoyed Time Team, sunday afternoons, while my nanna was sleeping I would be watching this with great interest. I like how in this pilot the jeep is green with the Time Team logo but after that they were blue. And here we see a young Tony Robinson with thick dark hair as well. It was definitely Time Team that got me to take an interest in archaeology, this I guess came after Time Signs.
Has the pilot ever been found? I would love to see the whole thing, as there was such an excitement in the early days and I loved the line-up with Mick and Robin (and Carenza later).
It isn't from a DVD. As Sir Tony explains it's a clip from an old VHS tape thst the director found; a great shame because it woukd have been good to see the whole show
@Mossy Taylor I think the original poster (and myself!) would like to know where the upload came from. Tony explains where the pilot clip came from, but the title of this video makes it seem as though this upload on TH-cam came from one of the many Time Team DVDs - seems like this was a DVD special feature. I wonder which one?
This was from the pilot programme made to trial the show, before the series proper was launched. It was never broadcast, hence Channel 4 apparently never kept the tapes and all copies of the full programme had managed to disappear in the intervening years.

they'll have to do a time team special digging up the gardens of all the original production team to find the lost tapes.

That's the only time I've seen them talk to the team about incident room logistics and accommodations.
