Naruto story wise, I would say is better than one piece. I'm 700 episodes into one piece and can confidently say OP fans mix up worldbuilding, and storytelling. OP's worldbuilding is unmatched. With Naruto, even in og Naruto the arcs were layered, weren't dragged out too long and conveyed a simple point and message.
For me, most of the flaws in the series coalesce around Itachi's "twist" when he dies. It could have been handled SO MUCH better, but there are some MAJOR plotholes that fans of the series dismiss without much thought, taking Kishimoto's retcons as evidence for the plot still making sense. These things include, but are not limited to... -Why did Itachi tell Sasuke to kill his best friend if he wanted to make Sasuke a hero for killing him; this would ultimately make Sasuke a traitor in the eyes of the village. -Why didn't Itachi tell ANYBODY when he met Tobi? This guy claims to be Madara and you KNOW the reason why your clan was being discriminated against was because people thought THEY summoned Kurama that night and attacked the village. This guy's MERE EXISTANCE exonerates your clan and they would JUMP at the chance to clear their names. All you had to do was lay a trap for this guy and present him to the elders as the real culprit of the 9 tail attack. -Why did Itachi give Naruto Shisui's eye to use against Sasuke when HE PLANNED TO FIGHT HIM?! And 1 more just because I need to point out the hypocrisy in this fandom... -If Madara's Infinite Tsukyomi plan is so hated because it took away the free will of the world, why is putting Sasuke under Kotoamatsukami any different?! He'd be robbed of his free will and forced to obey Konoha's government the same as Madara wanted the world to obey him and dream forever; if anything, Madara's plan at least let the dreamers make their own decisions in the dream world, but Sasuke didn't get that option.

Itachi portrayed himself as a ruthless sociopath who killed his family and friends to gain power and push his limits. The contrast between Itachi and Sasuke defines Sasuke’s character for the rest of the series. He has no interest in killing anyone, even when training with Orochimaru and being urged to kill. He states he only wants to kill one person. Itachi isn’t surprised that Naruto is still alive and even smiles at the thought of Sasuke having a best friend early in Part 1. 2.The elders and danzo didn’t care who summoned the beast they just knew that it was a sharingan user so they deemed the entire clan to be faulty braindead hiruzen just listened to anything they said so talking would do nothing shisui already proved this. Danzo threat to Konoha’s security and exploited the Nine Tails incident to fuel their animosity, using it as a pretext to eliminate the clan. Even if Itachi reveal tobi Hiruzen might believe it cleared the Uchiha, but Danzo and the elders would argue that other Uchiha members conspired with Tobi (and indeed, another Uchiha was involved). Tobi, having been aware of Itachi's double-agent life for quite some time, cunningly Tobi shrewdly leveraged his awareness of Itachi's covert activities to drive a wedge between the brothers and further his own agenda. So, even though both situations involve controlling someone's will, they're still different when you look at the scale and intentions. Reacting differently to them doesn't mean you're a hypocrite-it just means you're seeing the story's nuances*
