- In this tutorial I'm going to walk you through creating your very own Dynamic To-Do List in Google Sheets. I will show you how to create the scratching effect whenever you mark a task as done, how to highlight overdue tasks, how to add a progress bar and more!
I try to use as many formulas as I can so you can get the most out of this tutorial. I hope you like it! 😊👩🏻💻✨

HI i am currently following your guidelines using excel 2016 and got stuck in this step 13:36. I think conditional format rules don't recognize checkbox i created. Is there other ways that I just CLICK the 'C9' section ONCE and apply the rows with different affect instead of using checkbox?
Oh i just solved the problem. I can just type the number 1 or 0 instead of using checkbox. When I put '1', then it works as I 'check' and the affect comes out. :) thanks heaps

How can you create a progress bar using the "Status" drop down options? Also, how can you create a scratched out row from the "Status" drop down options. I've no use for the checkbox for my project for either scenarios but can't figure out how to drive those two scenarios from the "Status" drop down option. Please help!

alright so from where do i start.. these kinds of things always fascinated me but i knew i could never make it on my own. 22 years on the planet and i planted the idea that these complex computer things is something i will never be able to do in the roots of my mind. Well, for today's task, I learned how to format date. Since in my country we are used to day/month/year, I changed the format of the dates to all my workplace google sheets. It was on month/day/year. NEVER FELT SO GOOD TO SEE A CHANGE!😂

hI, THANKS, LOVED IT. But, why the bar chart formula goes to orange instead of green? I typed "Colour" (British Spelling) instead of "color" (American spelling) (my country is selected as UK & India.- It went orange but as soon i typed different spelling it was green. Does the formulas of excel & google sheets comply/ agree with American English spellings only ?

Thank you so much for doing this. I really enjoyed following along. I did a few things differently that might be great for future additions.
In the Status counts I did =Countifs($F$4:$F$20,J4,$C$4:$C$20,"FALSE") This only counts the tasks that aren't completed. So I know what's left to do.
I also created a row for "assigned to" since we are sharing it with 3 people. Then below the Status counts I added a count of assigned to with the same formula above
On the #'s 1-15 I did 1 in B4, then =IF(D5"",B4+1,"") That adds the next number when I type a task in the D Column.
I would have never done any of this if it wasn't for this tutorial, my idea's just made it more fun for me to build off what you taught. Thank you for doing this!
Can we have the spreadsheet organize the tasks by date due? The earliest due automatically goes to the top and so forth?

Hi! Thank you! If you followed the tutorial exactly the same:
You can select rows 21 and 22 (the entire row), then you right click and select "Insert two 2 rows above".
The reason I suggest you insert them in the bottom using rows 21 and 22 is so that your stats won't be messed up. Once you have those 2 new rows you can select 4 rows (the 2 you used before and the 2 new ones) and that will allow you to insert another 4 by repeating the process (right click ... insert 4 rows above ...)
When you are inserting make sure you never touch the first and last row, always select rows in the middle.
After that, you copy the formula from column G of any cell that already has a formula and paste it on column G of your new rows (never copy from the first and last rows, since those have different borders and will mess up the look)
Afterwards you edit the sequence formula to end in your final number of rows.

=COUNTIFS(E9:E26,true,F9:I26,"") its giving error while counting task done. Error is Array Arguemnt of countifs are of different sizes. I am stuck here can you resolve plz

I loved it but could not get the strikethrough feature to work on my check boxes. I think it has something to do with the #9 used. My check boxes are in column B so I knew to change your "c" to a "b" Any suggestions much appreciated because that it the most satisfying feature. Thanks so much!

Are you using a different spreadsheet, the data validation dialogue box is different in my system from the one you depicted here. Am not able to perform data validation as you did on the status cell, could you please advise??
Hi! Google Sheets changed after I filmed the video. Everything is still there but the layout is different. To create the drop-down you can click on Insert -> Drop-down and can pick the option that says "Drop-down from a range" 👩🏻💻✨

Awesome tutorial! Question: How do you add task 16+ while still retaining the formulas?
Hi! Thank you so much!! 😊👩🏻💻✨ You would have to first change the SEQUENCE formula to add more numbers, then just copy and paste any row from the to-do list into the 16th+ rows. You will also have to update the ranges in the STATUS and TOTALS formulas so they take those extra rows into consideration as well. I hope this helps! 😊

thank you so much!!!! i just made my own to-do list because of this. it’s very easy to follow and it’s very fun. i also added my own touch by putting subjects along with the tasks by a drop down list… and then i made a progress bar for each subject!! i like the progress bar a lot, it will motivate me to do my tasks more, thank you again ❤️😊❤️

Nicely done and well organized. Have you thought about the next step. How about a way to archive completed tasks making room for new ones without having to scroll down the page. I know you are not trying to compete with todoist- but yours is a much cleaner interface than commercial offerings; however- to be useful it has to keep up with constant new tasks over a longer period of time. After all- I want to be able to show the boss what I have done for more than15-20 tasks!
