@@The_Egg21 Hmmmm if this was a year ago I would absolutely agree 100%......but in 2020 Idk, humanity has surprised me in their show of collective empathy (for the most part) and as I remember in Star Trek it took "The Bell Riots" and the violence that followed due to oppression on a marginalized group of people that caused change(in Star Trek America it was Homeless people forced in "Sanctuaries") maybe in OUR America this could be the moment in history people and society as a whole could change?

I like that the arrival of the whale probe and v’ger had seemingly almost no effect on the federation, nobody is like “hey remember when we found out whales are actually super-intelligent beings that just chill out in the ocean and make music”
A Brief Note on Star Trek Canon:
I know many of you don't like Discovery and Picard, and personally I agree that the shows are disappointing and poorly written. But at the same time I can't simply say they don't count as canon. As far Alpha Canon is concerned, it applies to all shows and movies. Including the JJ Abrams movies, Discovery and Picard.
In order to avoid stumbling over the inaccuracies and changes made by newer Trek, this channel will avoid talking about them in detail, and only mention them when absolutely necessary. I will also be exclusively basing my drawing on classic Star Trek (TNG-ENT).
So just to be clear, the following IS considered Alpha Canon on this Channel

Hmm, I really applaud you for clarifying what counts as canon, I say this as I feel that people oftentimes don’t go into what counts as “canon”.
P.S. - Also, Are you gonna cover any Lore regarding the political situation of the Romulans in the Current Canon?
Please put "disclaimers" on anything shown on discovery (which is absolutely the worst) and Picard (which is second worst) that totally screw up everything that Gene Roddenberry created. (Even Star Trek: ENT was at least acceptable)
My opinion is that Discovery and Picard written by Kurtzman should not be considered as canon, it's a pile of warm dog poo, and no respectable trekkie fan would accept garbage from this director as canon, because he doesn't even know trek, and if he says he does, he's gotta be the worst dumbass in the world, tbh.
imho, at minimum, should have a disclaimer. It's just not based on Star Trek, it's just BS.
@@shawnchong5196 That's more vitriol than any of this deserves. Discovery is also my least favorite Trek show (haven't watched Picard yet), but it does a number of interesting things, and even a few things I came to respect, over the course of the first season.
But for me, major departures like Discovery don't need to threaten the value of original Trek, and hating them (rather than just disliking them) seems unnecessary.
Plus if new Trek shows start to piss you off too much, you can always just watch some Orville to calm down ;-)

Kirk and Archer will remain my favorite captains. Kirk for his damming of the prime directive, stating " _The people might be changed by the experience but it's certainly better than death._ " proving his desire that everyone should live time and time again and that death is only the last outcome, not the only. And Archer, for being the first explorer of Starfleet, pushed into being a soldier that he never wanted to be as he only wanted to explore the galaxy.
In TNG, hands down my favorite is Data. Always will be, always shall be.

the Ambassador class ship was considered an ok ship, but didn't preform the way they expected. so not including it i would say was the right thing to do. though the Enterprise C did go down fighting, earning the respect of the klingons.

I dont remember them (as a species) ever joining, but I could be wrong as I dont follow non-canon, again, I could be wrong and just not as smart as I think I am. lol
Klingons as a species joined the Federation, and that is canon, but it happened far into the future. This was revealed during an episode of ENT when Archer was taken to the future.
@@CivilizationEx I seem to be wrong. I am rewatching TNG, "Samaritan Snare" when Picard and Wesley are in the shuttle talking about Picards heart condition, Wesley asks "Was this before the Klingons joined The Federation" and Picard says "Yes".
So the Klingons joined after Picards heart stabbing and before TNG started.
WOW, all this time I thought they were just allies.
Maybe because I see being allies and actually being part of the Federation different.

Sure Voyager did the real food thing with Neelix but that was just to save power when you cant just refuel at your nearest federation outpost.The NX Enterprise cooked food because they did not have replicators.
