    These were my symptoms, I ached all over, worst I've ever had, my knuckles even ached...I had fever, lost my sense of taste and smell....I was so bad the first day I didn't get dressed, didn't wash my face, brush my teeth, slept all day...could barely function...my first covid test was negative, 48 hours later I tested positive for covid,,,this was last month, Feb 2023...in Feb 2020 I was sick, looking back I think it might have been covid, but I didn't have the fever or difficulty breathing they talked about and at that time no tests were available.

    Hi again Seth! Interesting, my wife and I got hit with a bad "cold/flu" in early February 2020 here in Hawaii too. I had such a bad cough that some blood came up a few times. Also, I did lose my sense of smell/taste for a few days. It took about 2-3 weeks to shake the cough but I eventually got back to 100%.

    • @bwelmhouse1

      Loss of taste and smell has been said to be just as confirmative for COVID as an actual positive test. I'd say for nearly certain, based on what I know now from the news, that you had COVID. Have you ever been that sick before? Did you find your illness to be unlike others you've had before?

    Dang. Just seeing that you made this video. I'm no expert, but it sounds pretty COVID-y to me. Everyone I know that's experienced it has reported similar symptoms, and nearly all of them say it's the worst they've ever felt in their lives. So glad you two got through it without any major complications.

    • @bwelmhouse1
      @bwelmhouse1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      IKR? I don't see how it wasn't COVID. I've known a couple who were confirmed cases that barely felt sick. Others who were sicker than they've ever been. It seems so random. If I did have COVID, there were aspects that were unbearable, but overall I have had flu's much worse where I felt like I was dying. I hope we did have COVID for the sake of immunity.

    Seth, my cousin from Milan died from Covid in March. My younger brother had just been in Milan on business in January, and took time to even visit our cousin before returning to the USA. He didn't get it.
    My wife's extended family suffered a few deaths, but nobody real close to her. We lost many Mexican neighbors at our house in central Mexico, I could not leave the country due to travel restrictions, both sides of the border were being prohibitive, because I was coming up from a central Mexico "red flag hotspot."
    It was serious.
    I got a one month window to come into the USA after 8.5 months stuck at home there, so I took it. Now the borders are closing again... And it's a rush to finish what I'm doing and go back. Not liking this because, my wife stayed down home and if I can't get home, well... I'll be stuck HERE for a while..
    I've been very fortunate to not get it, and I am at risk if I do, because of a heat stroke 7 years ago.
    Glad you all recovered, and from your detailed explanation it sounds to me that you had Covid. Science has been saying it alters your health and even your DNA but... I'm a firm believer that God is a healer and that's why ANY of us are still here at all.
    Take care, and enjoy that beautiful California weather! Loved it when I worked there... You're fortunate in a lot of ways.

    Hi, I'm just wondering how you are with the vestibular condition you had? I've just watched your exercise video you made several years ago, thank you
    Also, I visited Disney world from the UK in February 2020, both my daughter and I had very odd sicknesses whilst there. I had a very runny nose, food was tasteless, felt very cold and tired. My daughter had an excruciatingly painful stomach ache and a cold. All very odd. I wonder if it was Covid.
    I think it definitely sounds like you all experienced Covid.

    Ty 4 this video. I had all those symptoms when hiking across Spain October 2019. Went to hospital (never done that before for flu/cold). For me, started with very soar throat, then cough. Didn't have thermometer, but had fever, headache, loss of taste, fatigue, extreme body aches.was heavy in chest with stressed breathing. No runny nose. I took ibuprofen, as needed for symptoms. During the walk/hike of the Camino Frances there were many Europeans, South Koreans, Japanese, but not many Chinese.
    I'm convinced Covid19 was wide spread, outside of Wuhan, in mid 2019, but scientists want to just focus on Wuhan Dec 2019 and USA Feb/March 2020.
    To all, I wish you good health and peace.

    • @bwelmhouse1

      I can't even imagine getting so sick in the middle of a cross-country backpacking adventure. Even on shorter hikes, I always think about what would happen if I fell ill miles from my car. I've had many flus where one hour I'm fine and the next I can barely stand up because I'm so sick. Albeit COVID comes on more gradually than the flu, on a backpacking trip, it may come on a lot faster than you can get to shelter.
      The fact you had loss of taste is a very strong indicator you had COVID. And I agree with you that COVID has probably been around a lot longer than scientists know.

    Fascinating video! Back in February myself, wife and son all got horribly sick at different times and a wide variety of symptoms. I thought i had a horrible flu that lasted 5 days. Wife said she had a cold that lasted 3 weeks. 10 year old son needed to go to urgent care for appendicitis symptoms... turned out was not that at all, just a random virus. He's a very healthy boy and never needed hospitalization ever. Months later, we all have been exposed but haven't gotten sick.

    I was hit with something back in March, but it was before the Covid was officially announced in the US. I wish I could remember the timeframe but I can't exactly. It was strange because I ended up with a really bad ache, but it was mostly in my lower back. My lower back has always been susceptible to injury and pain, but this was different, way different. It started at work and as the day went on, I started getting very woozie and unaware of some of my actions. I had actually forgotten to punch out for the day and just left but when I got to my car, I started feeling like I was going to throw up but it never actually happened. I went home and tried laying down, but I couldn't do that because of the pain. No matter which position I tried, I could not sleep. But then I developed a bunch of gas but I thought I had to go to the bathroom but I never was able to really go. But by now my stomach was starting to hurt too and the pain was hopping around. I finally did manage to get a few hours of sleep in after I had my mother run to the store to get some Pepto for me. The next day I went to the doctor for a routine appointment, nice timing of course. He even didn't really know what was going on with me. But he gave me a steroid shot because to be honest, I don't even know how the hell I managed to drive out there. I was so out of it, I just felt like a freight train hit me head on. After about an hour after the shot, I started feeling much better. Things just improved from there. So I dunno what in the heck I had, if I got the touch of the virus, or if it was something else. But it was a feeling I never ever felt before.

    I think I may have had Covid. I was mildly sick with sore throat, bit of congestion and cough. But what really was unusual was that when I walked to the corner store I had to stop several times because I was having trouble breathing. It got so bad I had to turned around and go back home. The human body fights viruses better at higher temperatures. 102 F is not alarmingly high temperature. Cats and other animals have normal body temperature around 102.5 . If the temp is good enough for your cat, it's good enough for you. Don't worry, you will not get organ damage if you have a fever of 103 F.

    • @bwelmhouse1
      @bwelmhouse1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, it wasn't the fever itself that scared me. It was how utterly fast it shot up and the fact the fever accompanied such an unusual illness, it had me worried if I was headed for the ER. When I have the flu, I never ever treat the fever (mine rarely exceed 104). I let the fever run its course for the reason that you mentioned; viruses have a hard time thriving in feverish temps and that a fever is the body's defensive mechanism. I would only recommend (personal, non-doctor opinion) treating a fever if the fever causes unbearable discomfort or if it gets above 104. My understanding is that anything above 105 gets into the danger zone. The safety limit could be slightly lower for adults. A friend of mine had a fever of 106 and incurred a little brain damage.

  • @MamaLifeBre
    @MamaLifeBre 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    "I'm really anal about taking my body temperature" best quote ever lol. Symptoms seem similar enough that it sounds like you might have had it, hard to know and who knows if the antibodies would have lasted long enough to show up in a test nowadays.

    • @bwelmhouse1
      @bwelmhouse1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, funny things come out of my mouth when I talk sometimes. lol Unintended humor. Hahaha! So, antibodies are said to fade quickly, so this long after being sick it may be unlikely a test will show anything.

    Its really very possible, and very interesting too, because, i myself, and others, also got really sick just before Covid broke out, like January 2020 or so...And i felt terrible, like a flu with a pounding headache and serious cough...It cleared away, but it always left me wondering about what it was...

  • @jKLa
    @jKLa 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Interestingly, both my cousin and mom had similar symptoms around late February/early March of last year and both actually had to be briefly hospitalized. I wondered if it was Covid at the time but I never got sick and we all just moved on. Now I realize that I could well have actually gotten others sick with COVID back then without realizing it at the time, having no idea just bad things were about to get! 😰😢
    Interestingly, I have myself had a few episodes similer to this in the past at a time when there was no known pandemic. I suspect they were likely new, more nasty then usual varient's from among the countless types of common cold viruses endemic to humanity.

      My suggestion is for you to consult with your doctor about seeing some specialists who can examine, test and diagnose you. Balance issues can be caused by literally hundreds of different conditions. Only a qualified medical expert can give you the answers that you need. I know it's frustrating and scary and you want answers, as did I. But unfortunately, until you know what is actually causing it, you won't know how to go about solving it. You'll need more than just an MRI and blood testing. See if you can find an ENT, a neurologist, an audiologist, etc. Even things like heart problems, cervical spine issues, vision problems, TMJ, sensory issues in your feet or legs can all cause stuff like this.

    • @bwelmhouse1
      @bwelmhouse1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Antibodies fade rapidly. So even testing negative can't rule out a past infection. A negative test doesn't tell you for certain that you didn't have COVID. It only tells you there isn't a detectable amount of antibodies in your blood stream at this time. It's memory T and B cells that are shown to linger, not antibodies. At this time there isn't widespread testing for memory immune cells available to the general public.

    Sounds like covid , ive got covid now , but I'm wondering that if the early version of the virus was quite different than what's going around now like every one loses their taste and smell now that wasn't prevalent in the begging of the pandemic

    • @bwelmhouse1
      @bwelmhouse1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@iranpop80slover My understanding is that the symptoms aren't really different between the older and newer strains, just that the newer strains are more infectious because of the increase in number of protein spikes on the virus's outer shell that can attach to receptor sites within the human body. Are you hearing reports of loss of taste and smell not being prevalent in the beginning? I haven't heard of any yet, but I'll look into it.

    • @bwelmhouse1
      @bwelmhouse1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From what I've heard so far, the new variant (and actually there are a few now) is more infectious but not any worse with symptoms. I'm a little concerned that it's believed to spread even more easily, but researchers don't believe it will evade vaccination efforts and is not any more deadly. So, a little concerned but not panicked.

      I'm not sure, because I have chronic swollen turbinates that makes it difficult to breathe through my nose, so I already have a poor sense of smell to begin with. There were a couple cases in our group that got sick along with us that swear they had a loss of smell or at least a severely distorted version of smell.
