    I used to love when the M's would play their theme tune, unannounced, and it was just a part of the listening experience. A fantastic piece of music, a fantastic station at the time. Family owned and operated. Great days. So glad I got to experience them 🙂

      I remember the great Sydney.
      Gritty, grimy, full of character and characters.
      Now it's a selfish, gentrified haven for dodgy real estate agents, poker machines and overpriced craft beer served in what were once great live music venues.
      Vale Sydney.

    I listened to Triple M in the 80's when I was in the Army, we all did. Then during our working day we'd reference all the funny stuff and have another laugh. Thems the days. 🙂

    Thanks for the comments. Glad you like my theme. Yes it was taken from my album 'Tart Suite" and has been covered/revamped many times over the years, - but t's still "my" theme- whatever you call it!

      Mike, I want to offer a very sincere thank you for crafting this wonderful piece of music. There was a lot of great music in the eighties, but a lot of it came and went. The Dr Dan theme stayed around on Triple M, and I was an avid listener in those days. In many ways, the Dr Dan theme feels like the theme song of my teenage years.
      I remember one night in the late 90's, I finally made it onto the call-in request line, which was the only time in my life I did. There was only one song I wanted to hear, since it seemed to have reduced in popularity at that time. Apparently it took a bit of searching, but the DJ found the Dr Dan theme, and put it on the air again for me.
      Wonderful piece of music. Thank you for creating it.

      I randomly look up 2MMM theme. Find out it was actually Intro Journey of a Fool. Look up Mike Batt.....is a philharmonic orchestral conductor. Wow. I had no idea of the full scope of your original work, what a lovely surprise. I listened to this solo learning to play it over and over many times as a young guitarist. What a great composition :)

      Your theme is immortal, man!
      As a teen growing up in Sydney in the 80s, the Dr Dan Triple M theme was the most righteous piece of rock on the airwaves. It truly sounds like something from the movie HEAVY METAL, and conjures images in kind, probably because of the winged satyr burned into our neo-cortexes by the ubiquitous marketing thump at the time. Fantastic to learn of the origin of this immortal slice of art so many decades after being inspired by it!

    46,392 views for an Australian 80’s radio station ID jingle!? Well.....yes....truth be told I did search for this. I recorded on my mixed tape off the radio back in the 80’s - a radio jingle! I am pleasantly surprised but then again, I am not 😊. Put on your noise cancelling personal audio, close your eyes and let the music take you there. Sooooo good.

    gives me goosebumps. what a great iconic theme that is, back when triple m played 🤘rock🤘. all the great pub bands, Angels, Tatt’s, Oil’s, Radiators, Chisel and Hunter’s etc. waking up to Doug was always a laugh, him and Denton. i saw him live once at the first Narara concert, in a tutu singing ‘ i’m a punk..’ a very clever comedian, other radio hosts had tried but failed to match this legend. he made Triple M.
    now the station is like a top of the pops, alleging still that they are a rock station. nup, you aren’t anymore and haven’t been for years.

    Brings back memories of when Triple in Sydney rocked in the 80s and 90s. It was awesome. Unfortunately in 2012 the management of the Ms believes that people who enjoy rock music are bogans who love sport so the station no longer rates.
    Compare Uncle Doug to the current breakfast show.
    What a pity. Thank goodness for iPods for this of us who love rock as Triple M died about a decade ago

      Thanks Mark . . . you know your shit. I was told by my guitar playing mates that Kevin Borich did the original. At that time - 1976 to 1986 - even though 2MMM came into existence in 1980. Anyone who loves Rock in Sydney and is aged over 47 grew up with this intro/promo. Slash re-recorded and updated in 2010. I love Slash BUT Borich was way better. Kevin Borich was our home grown virtuouso and a combination of Ritchie Blackmore and Eddie Van Halen BUT with his own style. Had Borich lived in the U.S. he would be a millionaire guitar rock god along with EVH, Randy Rhoads, Satriani, Slash and Steven Vai.
      2MMM THEME SONG - I have never heard one better.

    Triple M NEVER EVER played the original off Mike Batts Tarot suite album. I even had a discussion on Mike Batts TH-cam channel with Mike Batt himself a while back. Mike seemed to recall it was Jim Cregan who played the main lead guitar part because Jim had played some of the other guest guitar parts on the album along with other players.
    Not so I assured Mike - I have an original 1978 pressing of the album on vinyl. And it of course identifies the player in the sleeve notes. And besides I know the players sound back to front - and I have every single one of his releases on vinyl and CD. After some prodding Mike agreed with me who DID play the original. He even joked about how many beers they had together at the pub after a day in the studio during the making of the Tarot suite album .
    Who was the original lead track played by? And no it wasn't Kevin Borich as someone below suggested. Nor that Dutch guy who did the first MMM version. Not Slash either though the original player is one of Slashes guitar heroes who his dad used to listen to. So who was it?
    A legend.
    Rory Gallagher.

    I played on this version. Kev did the first Dr Dan version indeed - for Jimmy Sloggit producer - and then I did most of the versions between then and Dieter's version in '90, . Tom Emmanuel played on one I remember.... Skunk Baxter was roped into recording on one version [with the Roland Gtr synth] but I ended up doing the main theme takes since Mr Baxter struggled to learn the weird little ditty. [weird but true!!] much to the chagrin of the producer and the assembled SB fan club from MMM.

      @yorickhunt3371 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jason Young My suggestion would be a three-step process - insure it, destroy it, use the money to buy a real 'phone.
      If you're not quite up for that solution though, this article appears to offer a method to convert songs to iRingtones for iThings;

    I think Kevin Borich did the very first Dr Dan Theme for 2MMM. Dieter Kleemann did one in 1990. The story can be found on Triple M's web site if you search the phrase "Dr. Dan Is Back!".
    It would be great if you could upload your Dieter Kleemann to TH-cam! :-)

Its by an Australian guitarist named Dieta Kleeman, any muso been around since the 80s will tell how good he is, His version of Dr Dan is the best. I searched it on you tube and its not around.
