This moment was double hype for me. For one, Apollo's got a real good theme and it was cool to hear it updated. For two, it's when I realized that each of the three attorneys gets their own objection theme! :D

In my opinion, one of the most underrated moments (if not the most underrated moment outside of DGS) happens in case 2 of this game. Dual Destinies imo put Apollo in a different direction, I don't really want to get into it rn but DD has my favourite Apollo period. And I think the first glimpse into how awesome he is was during the last case 2 trial, when blackquill tells him to stop his jabbering and he responds with " No, you stop YOUR jabbering and let me finish my point!" while slamming the desk. It's just so awesome
His first game introduced him. His second game defined him... and his third game did... _something_ to him. Something I'd rather not talk about, to be honest... My personal favorite scene with him is in case 5 - it's quite the controversial scene, apparently, but I loved how he was willing to stand up for the truth at all costs.

Just some were better at something than the other. But I still like Phoenix the most. Not really in SoJ. Because I felt he was sometimes more stoopid then in the first trilogy. And I somehow felt he was acting kinda different then I would expect, but it was somewhat ok. But on the other hand. Phoenix in DD was I would say a lot better. Not perfect, but better.
Ironic that the moent that comes to my mind when hearing this is barely connected to Apollo at all. "Edgeworth: We, prosecutors, search for the answers, pursuing every hint of doubt. Phoenix: While we, defence attorneys, defend our cients believing in them untill the bitter end. Judge: When the two sides clash it is us, Judges, who find the truth"

The greatest version of Apollo's objection. The others don't even come close. That guitar solo at 1:07 just makes a great theme into an incredible one!

Is it weird that this is where I thought Apollo's story felt like it actually started? Because in AJ, while the game was named after him it felt more like he was just taken along for the ride while Phoenix's story unravels more. Apollo just played the straight man reacting to everything around him. But here it actually feels like he has his own story and he's not just there as someone else's story is being told
Dual Destinies was portrayed as one of the darkest games in AA history. Have a guy who started the Dark Age of Law kill your best friend, and have a courtroom bombed, yeah pretty nutty. But that's the reason this game is so memorable. The game features some returning characters like Edgeworth and Pearls, and you even have one of the main protagonists go against the great Phoenix.
I'll politely disagree, mechashadow. Dual Destinies is about a bunch of people questioning their own morals. The system at large has decided that playing fair isn't worth it, and have adapted Machiavelian principles: The end justifies the means. Nick and Edgeworth are pretty much the only two people with experience who haven't bought into this, and Edgeworth's basically covertly running his own crusade against it. Meanwhile you've got Apollo questioning whether he's been on the wrong side of this divide all along, and Athena becoming convinced that she's a bad person. The thing that's important here is that the bad guys (Phantom aside) aren't really wrong. The Dark Age of the Law has been brought about because the old, non-Machiavelian system has been pretty much proven to not work: Two of the people spearheading it appear to have been hypocrites who didn't believe their much publicized values (Nick, who at this point is pretty much the most famous and best defense attorney in the country, appears to turn his back on seeking the truth by falsifying evidence, and young prosecutor prodigy Blackquill appears to turn his back on the law he's meant to be upholding). The legal community, seeing that the people at the top of their game they were looking up to don't seem to believe in fair play, stop believing in it as well. Not only has Nick and Blackquill's world gone to shit, but they're both *responsible* for it. Yes, the Dark Age of the Law is ultimately ended by them, but it's not them making the world a better place, it's them lifting the world out of a hole that they themselves dug, be it by accident or to protect someone they loved. Dual Destinies isn't only about facing up to your own mistakes, it's about how fickle the general public is, and how easy it is to upset the peace that we've established. In Spirit of Justice we have a completely unrealistic rule being enforced because someone in power had too much power. The people buy into it because reasons, but the appearance of three dedicated defense attorneys from the west manages to turn the people's beliefs against the stupid rule. Not only is this completely unrealistic, it's idealistic: It shows a belief that firmly held beliefs will triumph against overwhelming odds. Apollo's arc (which is the big focus of the game) is entirely focused around embracing his past and re-connecting with his family. Spirit of Justice is a game that doesn't have nearly as much to say as previous entries in the series, which is why I keep struggling between it and Justice for All as my least favorite Ace Attorney game (they're still both absolutely amazing, don't get me wrong). What little it does say is overwhelmingly hopeful: Apollo *can* reconnect with Dhurke and still be himself, Rayfa *can* rise above the poisonous ideas she's been educated to believe in, and Nick *can* time and time again rise above all odds to slowly reform Khurain's law system. The premise may be darker, but a dark premise does not equal a dark game. tl:dr: Dual Destinies is darker because it presents a much more pessimistic view of the world, whilst Spirit of Justice's darker premise serves as a jumping off point for a more idealistic message. Sorry for the stupidly long comment. Thanks for putting up with it if you made it all the way through :)

The dark age of the law being started by just 2 people? which makes everyone not believe in it suddenly? kinda sounds like rose tinted glasses to me.. you just say it's more believable just because it's local..really? if you want a better story of losing all you believe in and turning your back on the law, Apollo Justice the game has you covered. Again if you want to go with the sides of the law angle, they did it better with AAI to actually show how the characters all struggle against the law many times and not just in one or two scenes. It's really strange..the new Yamazaki team certainly can pull off "Show don't tell" but to me, it felt like they restrained in this games for some reason. Probably as it was their first foray into the mainline series.. sure DD had some great drama but SOJ did it better with emotional drama and higher stakes( not the DC act that was just okay) since we're talking themes..again, SoJ had a more cohesive storyline and theme running through the whole game than DD ever did. They only begun spinning the dark age effect in the third case instead of the first as we expected with a bombing. this is entirely too late! Heck even, the first case of Apollo justice felt more like the dark age of the law than that case and that's kinda sad when you say that's meant to be the theme supposedly

I've always liked Apollo. I already deeply cared about him in the fourth game, but Dual Destinies made him to my favourite character besides Phoenix himself! Now I can't wait to start Spirit of Justice soon!

Here's an idea for the next game: It turns out that Bobby Fulbright (the real one) wasn't actually dead. Instead, he was just in a coma but Edgeworth had to lie about this to protect him as a witness. He'll return as a bitter, cynical detective with a new identity, much like Godot from Trials and Tribulations. The 'new' Bobby's main goal is vengeance against the organization that stole his life.
Kapteindood What about the witness protection program? Fulbright had to fake being dead because the Phantom's organization was targeting him. They could literally do anything with the "real Bobby is dead" plot point here.
TheInfernityZero The thing is, it doesn't make sense if Fulbright was still alive. Even though they'd keep him being alive under wraps, the police force would be aware that Fulbright was still alive, and therefore they'd know whoever was out there calling himself Fulbright must be an impostor. Hence they'd constantly be keeping tabs on him, making his murder of Clay Terran and his bombing of the courtroom absolutely impossible.
Kapteindood Who said the police knew? Edgeworth had to law to protect remember? It could have just been the prosecutor's office. No one knew the phantom was going to attack Clay anyway.
It's a missed opportunity to not add this during his cross examination in case 5, we got I'M FINE instead Which isn't bad but it feels missing after case 4
Dual Destinies shows it: Apollo CAN work, he was a great character all along. His game was awful, because the writing was a disaster, but the character of Apollo was never an issue.
Apollo just didn't get the development he deserved. He started where he was and ended exactly where he was. DD gave him a step forward, and SOJ gave him leaps and bounds of it.
@@catboymiles7224 Bruh AJ's plot is just the worst. Turnabout Trump sets up a bunch of plot threads that are ignored for two cases, and they're all crammed into Turnabout Succession because they forgot about them in Corner and Serenade. I love this game, but Jesus is the plot a mess.
@@abigailc8829 i find it odd this is a complaint people have specifically with aj, when other aa games have done this even worse?? obvs aj is not perfect as a whole but its just overall still a lot more interesting as a whole and should have been given a proper sequel before dd and soj (which, while not absolutely terrible, were just. not well written, and didnt really feel like follow ups from what happened in aj at all) that expanded on the characters more

I'll be honest: this soundtrack incorporates a "clockwork" sound. Well, not exactly clockwork, but you get what I mean with the ringing like a grandfather clock. And also the guitars, but I'll be frank; almost all of the soundtrack uses a guitar. So in my thoughts, the "clockwork" is what embodies this theme. But I believe the AJ:AA uses this way a little better. And also when typing this I noticed how angry the attorneys all look. Never noticed it actually. Kill me.

This attitude is in itself irresponsible to the court, to the case, to the truth, to one's own profession. If he's afraid Athena will be accused of murder when he reveals the truth, as he did seven years ago, then it's understandable.

I've always liked Apollo. I already deeply cared about him in the fourth game, but Dual Destinies made him to my favourite character besides Phoenix himself! Now I can't wait to start Spirit of Justice soon!

@@anassanouche1414 I personally found it hard to reconcile how Apollo was portrayed in Spirit of Justice with his past appearances. He just felt... really off. Like some sort of imposter took his place for the entirety of the last case.

Here's an idea for the next game: It turns out that Bobby Fulbright (the real one) wasn't actually dead. Instead, he was just in a coma but Edgeworth had to lie about this to protect him as a witness. He'll return as a bitter, cynical detective with a new identity, much like Godot from Trials and Tribulations. The 'new' Bobby's main goal is vengeance against the organization that stole his life.

Kapteindood What about the witness protection program? Fulbright had to fake being dead because the Phantom's organization was targeting him. They could literally do anything with the "real Bobby is dead" plot point here.
TheInfernityZero The thing is, it doesn't make sense if Fulbright was still alive. Even though they'd keep him being alive under wraps, the police force would be aware that Fulbright was still alive, and therefore they'd know whoever was out there calling himself Fulbright must be an impostor. Hence they'd constantly be keeping tabs on him, making his murder of Clay Terran and his bombing of the courtroom absolutely impossible.
Kapteindood Who said the police knew? Edgeworth had to law to protect remember? It could have just been the prosecutor's office. No one knew the phantom was going to attack Clay anyway.

Dual Destinies shows it: Apollo CAN work, he was a great character all along.
His game was awful, because the writing was a disaster, but the character of Apollo was never an issue.
Apollo just didn't get the development he deserved. He started where he was and ended exactly where he was. DD gave him a step forward, and SOJ gave him leaps and bounds of it.
The fact that you think the AJ game was worse writing that Dual Destinies is really showing that your priorities are skewed
@@catboymiles7224 Bruh AJ's plot is just the worst. Turnabout Trump sets up a bunch of plot threads that are ignored for two cases, and they're all crammed into Turnabout Succession because they forgot about them in Corner and Serenade. I love this game, but Jesus is the plot a mess.
@@abigailc8829 i find it odd this is a complaint people have specifically with aj, when other aa games have done this even worse?? obvs aj is not perfect as a whole but its just overall still a lot more interesting as a whole and should have been given a proper sequel before dd and soj (which, while not absolutely terrible, were just. not well written, and didnt really feel like follow ups from what happened in aj at all) that expanded on the characters more

Apollo model is not bad but not as flexible as the forth game artwork I really love those.
Just here to remind you all that we got the AJ trilogy port and now the Investigations duology one is set to come out September 6th. We've fucking done it. We're blessed as Ace Attorney fans.

I'll be honest: this soundtrack incorporates a "clockwork" sound. Well, not exactly clockwork, but you get what I mean with the ringing like a grandfather clock. And also the guitars, but I'll be frank; almost all of the soundtrack uses a guitar. So in my thoughts, the "clockwork" is what embodies this theme. But I believe the AJ:AA uses this way a little better.
And also when typing this I noticed how angry the attorneys all look. Never noticed it actually. Kill me.
