In last question they asked that over 12 months that means the child’s age would be 1 year and if we calculate 55-1=54 it would be 54 that means the actual avg would be 36

There seems to be a flaw in question 10: the average is dependent on incrementation of all the observations, ie, family members, according to your solution, the age of the child was not accounted for, then how will the observations be taken as for all the 6 members(including the child). Hence, the question states that over the 12month period, the child must have have born and brought to age [1] and then the average will eventually come out as 36.

The child was born after 12 months that is after one year avg age of already existing member would be 46(45+1) and then we will consider the member who died and the child birth.

8:41 my solution for 1st question; as we know that middle number is an average for a series or AP so
- 1st term___B(5th term as avg.)___A(9th term as largest number)______17th term.
for 1st given condition B is average and at the same time for
2nd given condition it would be 1st term for B(1st term)_____A(9th term and average)_____17th term
so clearly we can see that A as average of 17th terms in a cumulative way. I think even there is no need of pen & paper for this question. clarify if any doubt from your end

Here's another method : Firstly find the sum of the years of family members, that will be = Avg year× Total no. of obs = 45×6 = 270
Now after 12 month, Sum of years
270 - 55(died person) + 0(Born Child) + 5(Year increament in left 5 members) = 220
Now Avg age = 220/6 = 36.67 ans............
