This was on my birthday! 14 year old me had just discovered ZZ Top, was heavily into Eliminator and was about to go on a wild ride discovering hard rock and heavy metal. I was a nerdy kid, thought Pink Floyd was the best thing ever, and this trio lit a path that would definitely change my life.
ZZ Top use to have the greatest stage shows. The AfterBurner tour was AMAZING. The show started out with the backdrop of a custom 57 Chevy dashboard with working speedo pegged around a 100mph, as the show went on (if you were paying attention) the gas gauge started on full then went to empty. When the "gas" ran out the whole arena went dark, then a laser light show play on the ceiling showing all kind of things ( gottta remember this was 85 & lasers were a big thing back then) then it started a countdown from 10. The lights came back on and the whole stage had changed, the backdrop was now a tricked out combo version of the space shuttle and a hotrod, like the inside of the car/shuttle on the album cover. And just like this show when they came back they changed outfits too, was freaking great!! Nothing like Texas Bop with ZZ TOP!!
@@Squank63 no that was on the Recycler Tour.....on the Afterburner tour they were standing at the top of pedestals that were on either side of the stage....they spun their furry guitars and were engulfed in fog....when the fog cleared they had disappeared through trap doors and you could swear the guitars were still there spinning a second before that...persistence of vision I guess...cool stuff!
@@mobiledrummer , I was thinking about the Recycler tour when they came out of the compactor. Yes! I remember when they disappeared through the floor in a cloud of smoke... Can't recall the spinning guitars though. Wish there was video of those great shows!

Some of the coolest stage shows ever: From the changable dash board to the "scrap yard" of recycler. Never seen anyone else ride those conveyor belts. Coolest shit ever!!! Not to mention getting "scrapped". Love you guys and yes I stll have my ZZ key ring from 1984. Keep on rockin boys, Dusty would want you to!!!!

Billy has a killer tone. And they both sing good and fresh. I saw them my first time with those big white semihollows . This band was so good in 1990. Billy's solos and tone are a piece of art. Pearly Gates was on vacation but this John Bolin guitar is even better. Can't get enuff of this stuff. I thank you!
How in the hell does he get that tone?! I heard it was 4 JCM900 amps some effects and a Tc electronics 2290 digital delay, and ya gotta love those John Bolins
I was backstage with the band a few years ago, and I asked Billy if he was liking his new distortion unit, because I could see that the one he'd been using wasn't on the stage at all that night. He turned to his guitar tech (Elwood Francis, who became Dusty Hill's replacement when he passed..) and asked him what distortion unit he was actually using. From that interaction with him I conclude that he doesn't really pay as much attention to HOW he gets the sound, just that he actually does get it. I think that it's amazing that he can find that wonderful sound using all manner of different equipment through the years.

Thanks for posting this,, it brings back a lot of good memories. Living in portland, Oregon I was 2 years into my new job and I had only one week of vacation a year so I would take 3 days off during the week of Thanksgiving which we had Thursday and Friday off so including the two weekends gave me 9 days off . So during the day I would go and eat lunch at one of my favorite restaurants that had a open buffet lunch drink coffee and read the newspaper and hangout. The restaurant if you lived in portland was the Monte Carlo Italian restaurant. Well ZZTOP scheduled one night on the 19th well it sold out in hours well within hours they held over for one more night in the 20th . So all I did was hangout at the Monte Carlo and go to ZZTOP concerts at night , it was great, fun times. The Monte Carlo is gone now, it was like something of of the Sopranos TV show.

my Favorite tours was The 79-80 Degullo Tour The 83-84 Eliminator tour,The 85-86 Afterburner Tour,90-91 Recycler Tour I Love the Furry Gutairs and The Eliminator Car As Gutairs
I even prefer this live version of Give Me All Your Lovin' to the single released, which is great, but the groove in this live version has more lilt to it & is better still.
Billy Gibbons has a 5 octave vocal range. He's a great guitarist as well. Great songwriter and stage performer. Dusty was a good compliment for Billy. They went together like burgers and fries or pizza and beer. BarBQ'd steaks and baked potatoes. Billy can keep it going. But like the Eagles without Glenn Frey, it won't be the same.
, saw this tour 1990 recycler here in Dallas in October at the Cotton Bowl 80000 in attendance,, I remember they did 2000 Blues and concrete and steel. Long Live ZZ Top almost 50 years without a Personnel change in 2020. Howdy from Dallas Texas Home of blind lemon Jefferson the first famous blues guitarist 1926 and Stevie Ray Vaughan
I saw this at Mungersdorf Stadium in Cologne Germany. Trully a ZZTop cars meet girls meet fine music happening. Best show I have ever seen to date. Hopefully some day an authorised version - as a tribute to Dusty - with enchanced visuals and sound will surface. Recycler era rules!
I know there will be some haters , but I won't go to see them in concert anymore , and ive been to ever tour since the album... Without Dusty ( R.I.P. MY FRIEND ) It will NEVER be That Little 'Ol Band From Texas... Ever again 🥲✌️
Went to school with a guy whose dad was a financial advisor or some shit for these guys when this concert happened. Got backstage passes. Best time ever. Well this and the backstage pass to a George Clinton concert in Houston a few years later.
Saw this tour in Houston at the summit, the first song treadmill trick killed the crowd, was bad ass, was kinda bummed they didn’t do more old songs cuz ZZTops first 4 records are so badass, but was a really cool stage show.
these guys are great but i would rather it if they just hired one or two additional musicians that could be in the background of the stage just under the drummer to play the parts that are pre-recorded...no one would care. other than that, amazing band, amazing music.
Despite getting out of sync during Sharp Dressed Man they still made it back to the verse. Speaks of their cohesiveness as a band and their style of making it look effortless
The last time I saw ZZ Top was in 1990 in the Cotton Bowl a few days after this show. I think the attendance was 74000 a nice crowd. I got to the Cotton Bowl early and was sitting on the Cotton Bowl floor about the 20 yard line but I am not for sure. Colin James came out and did a fantastic job. However I can't find any pictures or anything about it if anybody has seen anything please leave me a link. By the way Randy Quaid was hilarious as he took the picture. Thanks
The first song co-incidentally sounds as if you are listening to the BRYAN ADAMS BAND, including how Billy Gibbons' voice amazingly DOES sound like Bryan Adams! It would be my dream team if the 2 bands recorded something together!
RIP Dusty! Thanks for the good times!

Thank you kindly music is what? Best for #Cadillac 🐬Calson Associates circa 1920. Great show! Loved it. 1990 a good year for me and cash cow moo moo WOOF WOOF meow meow riding the wave of Revenue in Uniform Reciprocal Enforcement and Support Act. URESA children first and foremost
I was at this tour, in México City, still One of the Best concerts I have been.
Heh, heh... those Moving Sidewalks blew my 19 year old mind at the Atlanta leg of the Recycler Tour...
💪🏻
🎸
🇺🇸
I was there in Atlanta too. First show of 3. The only night Black Crowes opened for them before they were removed from the tour.
When Billy was younger he was a fiery player. This is sweet. Thanks for uploading it. 2:48.
I wish I had been there! This is quite a treat to watch this today!! Thank you so many years later. RIP Dusty
my Favorite tours was The 79-80 Degullo Tour The 83-84 Eliminator tour,The 85-86 Afterburner Tour,90-91 Recycler Tour I Love the Furry Gutairs and The Eliminator Car As Gutairs
do you remember them disappearing with the furry guitars spinning?
@@mobiledrummer I remember the spinning furry white guitars when they did Legs just like in the video.
Great tour! Seen this concert in New Orleans Jan 1991! 🤘🤘
Was at this concert!! Thanks very much for posting. ZZ's last great concert!
They'd usually sell out in Tucson and Phoenix and end up doing a second show...........twice the Top!
I'm heartbroken. GBNF>>
I saw that tour in Birmingham Alabama back earlier that year
Stuff like this really makes me pissed I wasn't born till 99 and got autotune instead of real music 🤟😭
Making up for it now, though Cody! DEEJAYENPS
I even prefer this live version of Give Me All Your Lovin' to the single released, which is great, but the groove in this live version has more lilt to it & is better still.
Toll, fun 🙏🙏mit Durchblick und Klarheit in die Entspannung 😅🙏🙏🙏✋😎❤️💯🦉🙂🙂🙂
Billy Gibbons has a 5 octave vocal range. He's a great guitarist as well. Great songwriter and stage performer. Dusty was a good compliment for Billy. They went together like burgers and fries or pizza and beer. BarBQ'd steaks and baked potatoes.
Billy can keep it going. But like the Eagles without Glenn Frey, it won't be the same.
Love this!! ZZ Top live yeah!
AWESOME!! thanks!
, saw this tour 1990 recycler here in Dallas in October at the Cotton Bowl 80000 in attendance,, I remember they did 2000 Blues and concrete and steel. Long Live ZZ Top almost 50 years without a Personnel change in 2020. Howdy from Dallas Texas Home of blind lemon Jefferson the first famous blues guitarist 1926 and Stevie Ray Vaughan
Ya man. No drama from these guys eh ? A true company. True partners
My God, that ROCKS, I don't care who ya are!!
I know there will be some haters , but I won't go to see them in concert anymore , and ive been to ever tour since the album... Without Dusty ( R.I.P. MY FRIEND ) It will NEVER be That Little 'Ol Band From Texas...
Ever again 🥲✌️
Are you kidding me? This is being the absolute best in the world! Sail on Dusty....!
Phat show. Heads in Mississippi would've been cherry on top says my ungratefull butt
I was lucky enough to ba in the Gibson custom shop and played a hand in making the guitars. The acoustics were completely filled with balsa.
gdale0777 Cool. Thanks for sharing that.
Thanks for posting...btw, it's Tube SNAKE Boogie.
these guys are great but i would rather it if they just hired one or two additional musicians that could be in the background of the stage just under the drummer to play the parts that are pre-recorded...no one would care. other than that, amazing band, amazing music.
Despite getting out of sync during Sharp Dressed Man they still made it back to the verse. Speaks of their cohesiveness as a band and their style of making it look effortless
3:16 Moving Sidewalks!
However I can't find any pictures or anything about it if anybody has seen anything please leave
me a link. By the way Randy Quaid was hilarious as he took the picture.
Thanks

Hell yeah 💯😎🖖
51:32 "Just got paid". There you have a reference.
Good Lord, the Rev's Tone!
Have Mercy!!!!
Does Anybody know what brand guitar or Luther BFG, or Dusty for that matter, is using here?
Cool👌🔥🎸
かっちょいい。
The first song co-incidentally sounds as if you are listening to the BRYAN ADAMS BAND, including how Billy Gibbons' voice amazingly DOES sound like Bryan Adams! It would be my dream team if the 2 bands recorded something together!
Is this the concert where George Thorogood opened for them? If it is, I was there. A great double bill.
Nope, Colin James opened.
@@LucidVideoGuy That was another concert I saw them at Maple Leaf Gardens with Colin, I believe George was at the one after this one.
