    A few things that could improve this game a lot
    1. Better weapon impact
    2. Better background music
    3. Customizable character

    The charge attacks look so underwhelming, the guy charges up his axe for a big hit and then it sounds like he's hitting the monster with a big fish or something :/

    they need to add sprint, and better visual feedback on hits. other than that it looks like it will be a fun game to play

      i think they need add the system to the cost of stamina as in dark souls. In this way I believe that it leaves the game even more tactical, because the person should be attentive to its amount of stamina.

    You should add something like traps.. imagine a game when you need to lure the beast to the trap and then attack it (It could be just optional) It would add more preparation than just rushing big behemoth.

    music sounds more like ambiance than actual music?
    And hitting the monster with a giant sword makes a wimpy "pish" sound?
    You need IMPACT, music AND SFX working or its gonna lack impact, literally and figuratively.
    I want this game to succeed.

      @Rathmor Yep, I think this game has a lot of potential. Some very easy changes could make or break this game. I want to see a great product- they've accomplished the hardest parts in my opinion, and it'd be a shame to see that go to waste.

    i know the sound is messed up in this video and all. but some of the Shrike's attacks sound muffled and i think thats a nice touch since Owls have special feathers to make them fly in near silence. Since the shrike looks like an owl it seems neat that some attacks are hard to hear.

      The early monster hunter game has no lock-on as well, that wasn't quite a problem. Because once lock-on how DE angle camera when certain situation like under monster crotch will become disaster.

      The character hitting movement and action is more a problem than lock-on right now. Capcom had teams dev many action games before, so they knew how to time action and creates action impact on hitting and vibe indeed experienced. unlike this newly born game the action is very stiff, and character do many unnecessary move when draw blade also no retract action when finish the attack.

    I really like the graphic style (art style?), and the slow movement of the characters. I think it really sets it apart from other rpg games, which are usually more faster paced. I personally think the shadows are near perfect, although they are a bit too dark. Other than that I am definitely going to keep this game in mind.

    Looks hella fun fighting that Shrike creature. Hope the charged attacks don't stay as anti-climatic as they currently are in the final version; certainly they'll add a sprinting feature in the future. So far I'd totally dig it

    That charged axe attack was the most impotent thing I've ever seen in a monster hunting game. I really hope they get the weapon animations and sounds correct, like they seem to have with this Owlbear thing.

    Monster hunters depth starts with its weapons, is there any depth to the weapons here or do you just attack by pressing a button. If the weapons lack depth what in the gameplay loop will compensate?

    Really hope they do more with the weapons than giving you different moves to beat on the monster. Many have probably compared it to the monster hunter series already but something that makes that series stand out is the range of gimmicks each weapon has from counters to weapon heat each weapon was more than just a different set of animations to do the same thing wailing on the monster. This game has a ton of potential and I'm looking forward to what the developers are planning next!

    Things to add in as development moves along, Lock on, Better Impact, Visual Representation of damage being done (i.e how much health the monster has left)

      monster hunter doesn't have a health bar for monsters, but they do have a limping animation when low on hp. the monster already visibly gets tired as time goes on and there's visible cuts on it so it's fine imo

      The strikes feedback is really underwhelming, just some boring metallic shwing sound. No real sensation that you are hitting hard or hitting a weak spot (the pitch changes and the blood splatter is bigger when you hit a weak spot in monster hunter). I think that's part of it.

      shade692003 i noticed that as well. The feedback isn't satisfying. Plus, the music doesn't seem all that engaging. In regards to the monster itself, it doesn't seem all that intimidating. Perhaps I'm such a monster hunter player and I'm used to the monsters being more lively. Like having roars or screeches. Needs more sound cues and maybe a little more visual cues. The music is really dull.... I've already said that but I need to get pumped if I'm gonna be fighting this thing.

      THE TRIBUTE I have no issues with the art and style. Graphically speaking this game is better than Monster hunter. Though despite that, based on first impressions of this game, id still want monster hunter over this game. Would be nice if Monster hunter came to PS4 in the US but that's wishful thinking.

    Lighting engine looks awesome. Id say increase base movespeed or add a sprint function. If im moving around the whole world that slowly im gonna get bored. Secondly add more weapon impact for large weapons. I can understand a slashing weapon not having much stagger, but the hammer wasnt really having an effect. Still looks awesome cant wait to play it

    This just like the older MH games on PSP (oh the nostalgia). No lock on, no monster health bar, no damage numbers, got to study all monster attack moves, different weapon types, slow as heal animation, 3 deaths among teammates and it's game over.

    I recomend to put "lock camera on target" option. To pc is easy using mouse, but if you r going to use a X-box control...it would be nice to have target lock. And I love hunt soo I'm expecting a good track system, one that make u feel u r realy hunting. Maybe not in alpha but it would be nice to have in the future.

    Graphic wise it's good. Different enough from MH. Monter animation are also fine so far.
    But the gameplay needs to be polished, it feels slow but not only slow, it doesnt look like we're doing much.
    If this as released during MH3, I would have said it looks good. But with MHX and XX, it looks like there's stuff missing.

    Why are you blokes complaining? This game needs to happen. MHO is only in China and capcom is not making a PC or console version of MH anytime soon. The MH community is waiting for a game like this to be developed on higher end systems! The mechanics will need to be fleshed out but that is what our community is for; sign up and test betas and give our feedback! Game looks great ATM! Can't wait to play.

    This looks really interesting, but IMO the music is a little too subtle considering they're fighting a gigantic bird, and I wish there was a little bit more going on in the background environment. I can't wait to see where the game goes though!

    Needs character screams while swinging, monsters are very quiet too, and music stays pretty much the same throughout. In MonHun, the music has ups and downs all through the fight. It just feels overall more lively. Hopefully the final game will be improved.

    Game looks pretty good.
    Good graphics, battles work great and stuff, but I agree with the guy that this game needs some more visual feedback on hits, like a little splash of blood each time you hit the enemy.
    Also, the movement speed could be tuned up a bit, because at the present state, it seems a little slow.
    And finally, the sounds for the hit of the weapons doesn't seem to... "charming" to me.
    Like, they're really trebly.
    Could be a little more soft.
    Still, this is a game that still makes me wish to play MMOs

    Probably one of the best pre-alphas I've seen tbh, it all depends on where they take it from here. Character customization, better sound effects on the attacks that look so "heavy", and perhaps a skill system like Dragon Nest (since the combat already looks as fluid) would be awesome but, it depends on the devs. Definitely hype tho

    Knowing that this is suppose to be like Monster Hunter,I hope they fix some kinks and play style when finished. Like staggering/stun when hit to a slide. Faster recovery. x2 speed everything (or make it feel faster) Sprint, camera angles.

    The range of the sword seems a little short. I'm not sure if it'll be comfortable for me to use, considering I mostly main longsword all this time. Still, I'd love to give the full game a shot once it comes out.

    for where the game is, the amount of polish starting to come through is really exciting
    although its hard to say before we get our hands on the game, it does seem like at this point the behemoths spend a lot of time idle and their movements dont quite communicate their intent as well as needed, both of which seem to slow down the pacing of the game

    All the monster attacks sound like fucking plasma explosions. Meanwhile hunter attacks sound like they're fencing.

    Really hope they're planning to add more stages to this boss or make the fight shorter because right now it's a moveset of excessively telegraphed attacks that are all seen within a minute but the battle drags out for 13 more minutes with nothing new :p Probably need more abilities and methods of attack for the player too.

    I have seen the shrike white in winter, does this mean the seasons affect these monsters?

    Pre alpha or not, the monsters need to be more aggressive, engaging and attacking much faster than this.. You just basically hang ar the rear of the beast and swing away.. Moar speed :p! Beasts shouldn't allow anyone be that close without some serious risks of getting slapped hard

    I think the 2 major things the game needs to improve on to truly be great are sounds and background. Without music and sfx, the Zinogre would be an awkward mess with no emotional attachment.     The low growl of the monster is amazing. You can pretty much locate it with your eyes close if you have a good set of headphones.
    However, i think they made a few mistakes with the monster design.
    First, the attack animations are really too slow. MH attacks are fast, but the tell (or the combo chaining) is long enough enough that it becomes predictable. This significantly reduces the apparent power of the monsters.
    For example, when u see the shrike fly up, the it slams extremely slowly compared to a Astalos which just slams straight down. Its basically OK to use instant attacks as long as they are predictable and the lock-on is about 2-300ms behind the player. I can guarantee that the lock-on in this game is predictive or too late (see 3:40, 10:15, 12:17), i think that should be fixed. What is not OK from MH is the absurd Yian Garuga no-tell no-windup charge. The fly charge for the shrike is about hmm... 1/2 to 2/3rds of the speed any of the MH wyverns.
    I think there's slightly too much spam despite the large the move pool. In particular the jump up and slam. Its relatively accurate too.The enrage really doesn't feel like enrage, feels more like second form - the amount of time it spends (badly) observing the players makes it feel... stupid.
    Another possible issue is there's no turning animation (edit: it does, 0:45 - seems to be rare later though). The attacks tend to lock, even when the player has rolled past the monster (10:15). Either that or the monster tends to run away and instantly turns around as part of a move. This is one of the reasons why MH can have fast attacks - the monster overshoots the target, then spends a few frames turning (which gets it smacked on the head by a charge attack)
    The flinch numbers might also be incorrect. I didn't keep count, but in MH there will be at least 10 damage inflicted flinches per fight (1-2 GS charge to weak-spot, 3-5 anywhere else). If the player has not enough openings, more flinch and less taunt is better - the player "earns" the downtime. Much more satisfying (chain flinch is probably the most satisfying thing in MH). Currently feels like the player hits the monster doing not much damage.
    Another useful trick might be to let it shoot at the back-line/switch targets a little more instead of taunting/looking around. It really does too much of that.
    This monster in particular might be missing a short range lunge or something. Players tend to need to chase the monster down (either when it does its jump-back-whirlwind, flying charge or run-away-to-turn). Very annoying. There are only 3 attacks which leave it relatively close to the players - swipes, wind slash and homing aerial slam.
    Finally, the music doesn't really work together with the gameplay. It feels more suited for dark souls or stalking around, but still wrong.
    Now it may look like i'm criticizing the game alot, but the fact is all these, other than the lock-ons, are relatively to fix - numbers or art style. MH has something like a whole 5 generations and 2 online games to refine their style. And they are Japanese, they do shit like that (hack and slash ARPGs) all the time.
    I won't comment on player moveset, people probably have better ideas for this than i do.

    did noone notice how absurdly close this was? "Next Bleedout will force Retreat!" Shrike was about to bitchslap PAX1, who had like no health left, but he sliced it at the last freakin moment and killed it..

    I like how the game looks but....
    1. Why is the music so... boring??
    2. Please up the movespeed. This looks really slow for some reason.
    3. More/better sound cues for hits/weak spots.
    Yes it's an alpha but how are they going to know what to work on if we don't tell them??

    I played since MH 1 on the Ps , and Boy i miss the Days where it whas not so fancy, where you dont have all style of arts and stuff . Today its just riding riding riding, airspam and so on ......... Wo really played Monster Hunter Unite , played the Monster Hunter on the best form. They even never came back with Treasure Hunt. Zhey just make it more common and easy. We needed skill to dodge things , now we got evade +3 and things . I am really hyped about this game here and will give it a fair chance . We will see what the Future will bring.

    I know this is still just a WIP but still, this is so slowly paced and it seems like the monster is extremely weak. Like from 0:30 to 0:40, what was that. It it sent the character rolling a foot and then made them stumble a little? And then that tornado attack knocked them about as far as the ground slam. Come on, they just got hit by a tornado. You're not just rolling a foot or two away after that. I want to like this game, I do. It looks like it has potential to be fun but I really hope the speed picks up and the hits become a bit more realistic. Even the hits against the monster were missing something. It sounded like the blades were striking against metal instead of a flesh and blood creature.

    Man, I like the aesthetics and it looks like it could be quite fun, but its EXTREMELY slow!
    I'm not sure I could put up with that...
