    All beginners need to know is sample everything. Everything, and when you like something then sample it in a 5 to 10ml again so you know you love it. Don't buy the like bottles cause they just collect dust as you reach around them to grab your loves. Last, there will always be sales so when you think you need something, trust you will get it for cheaper if you shop around on discounters and wait for periodic sales. This is decent advice to start with.

    I know there are a lot of beginners here, and I have a lot of things to tell you guys, but I'll condense it down to these two:
    1. Don't go overboard with the bottles. Stick with 15-35, and if you feel like you need a hype monster, buy a 10mL decant
    2. Stick with the top designers at first, but challenge yourself over time. Expand your pallet, don't pigeonhole yourself

For summer Versace Man Eau Fraiche and Tommy Bahamas St. Barts. One Blue fragrance probably Armaf Iconic or Afnan Turathi Blue. For Fall/Winter Maison Alhambra Tabac for date night and going out Armaf Hunter Killer and one that’s a bit classy for formal occasions,etc like Prada L’homme or Lalique Pour Homme Lion or Cartier Pasha Parfum,Declaration or L’envol from Cartier or on the cheap Maison Alhambra Kismet.

  • @magambi123
    @magambi123 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Beginners: Here's a buzzword you need to know. The term "DNA" is used over and over and over. Fragrance reviewers love saying it. In this context, it means "the fundamental and distinctive characteristics or qualities of something", not "a self-replicating material that is present in nearly all living organisms". • @nateriley4067
      @nateriley4067 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I'm kinda new myself to the hobby, but here is what I've heard and read. Fragrances should last at least 3-5 years. They'll expire more quickly if you place them on a windowsill or bathroom because sunlight and will excite and destroy the scent molecules. Its best to store your fragrances in darker, cooler, non-humid (or room temperature) environments - not cars. Fragrances can last much longer, that's why there's a secondary market for vintage fragrances, perfumes that are 25 years or older even. If you look at the bottom of your cologne box, it'll have an indicator that says like 36M, that's like a minimum shelf life (basically saying this cologne will last for the next 3 years), I think Europe makes perfume companies put this on their boxes. Finally, the more you use a bottle, the quicker it will go bad. For instance, if you've used 90% of the bottle (and only have 10% left), you'll have more oxygen in your bottle and that will make the perfume go bad quicker. Modern atomizers are supposed to keep air out, but that's almost impossible, so some air will get in. If you're bottle is 75% full, it will last longer that the 10% full bottle if both bottles are kept under the same conditions. Hope this helps to answer your question.

    Fragrance should not be about collecting. It should be about what smells good on you and what you enjoy. You listen to guys like this and they'll have you buying everything because it benefits them, with their affiliate codes and their sneaky connections to all sorts of companies. Just buy what you like. You don't have to have a collection. I used to shop at twisted Lily all the time and I won't anymore because they partnered with him. Anytime a company collaborates with an influencer, I stop doing business with them.
    I'm ready for people to wake up and understand that all of these fragrance TH-camrs have reasons why they want you to buy the stuff. If you stop watching their videos and you don't buy the fragrances they encourage you to buy from the places they encourage you to buy them from, they actually have to go out and get real jobs.

I've got all the big hitters but I buy for what I like, there is Emporio Atmani DIAMONDS 🔹 which in Aust you can only get 50ml but not at retailers I've only seen it at 1 didcounter but still around $100 AUD for 50ml. But I've cut back in buying, as it is very addictive this hobby and I'm enjoying the fruits of my labour, today SOD is D and B pour Homme, underrated scent, has a leather note that smells great, but got Tarrae Essence and very masculine scent , which, is cool but for what season. ? But Ysl Bleu Electrique great scent, I have back up bottles of my favourites, Prada L'homme is getting a good work out, can't complain about Dior Homme 2020 sprayed it on my arm just now and yes classy but an office or just a great chill out scent and obviously can't go past the ONE EDP
