I've seen Motörhead once, was going to see them for a second time but I got horribly sick and couldn't make so I gave my ticket to my brother because my father was going there anyway. My brother was 14, long hair and blonde and was standing up front next to the stage, Lemmy was so happy to see a young person there up front so he gave him his bass pick, then after before the ended the show a roadie came with a bucket of picks and drumsticks. I must say, I hate that I missed that last concert but it also was the best concert that I've ever missed just because that gave my brother a memory that he'll never forget.
I never thought much of this song until Lemmy covered it. Now goosebumps and tears. Also excellent orchestration and love the bass solo. Eternal Hails Mr. Kilmister!
His gravelly voice makes this somehow more haunting and emotional than the original. He has an image of a hardass but this soulful shit reveals his true nature. So long Lem, ill see you soon.
Me and my best friend were listening to music and tripping on shrooms a couple years ago, and this randomly started playing over his speaker. In our trip, he and I were two Cowboys in a cosmic desert, with Lemmy's vocals echoing from the horizon. At the time, I thought I'd dreamed up the whole thing, including this cover. Been my favorite version of this song ever since
I just told a couple of older fellas over on an old car channel to check this version out because they played a clip of the original, and this is what popped in my head.

Makes me “well up” a bit hearing him sing this. I grew up with Lemmys music and saw him live a few times. Gutted he’s gone, but I don’t think he’d have enjoyed falling apart getting old. RIP Lemmy...your music was always with me....Through the good times and the bad. You’re a legend.!
I can imagine something like a scene from a movie where Lemmy goes to heaven (or hell, he'd be fine with either, probably), he goes to the bar and Joey Ramone's there waiting for him with a bottle of Jack Daniels and a shot glass and says "Damn, what kept ya, Lemmy?". Lemmy smiles and flips him off and has a drink as the screen fades to black while this plays.
Only LEMMY could spend 70 years on Earth and still leave us like a BURNING BLAZE OF GLORY.....Best individual personality in the entire history of the music business ever to hang a guitar around his neck barr none. I Love him and will honour and cherish his name, work and music for the entirety of my own life.
When the night has come And the land is dark And the moon is the only light we'll see No I won't be afraid Oh, I won't be afraid Just as long as you stand, stand by me So darling, darling Stand by me, oh stand by me Oh stand, stand by me Stand by me If the sky that we look upon Should tumble and fall Or the mountain should crumble to the sea I won't cry, I won't cry No, I won't shed a tear Just as long as you stand, stand by me And darling, darling Stand by me, oh stand by me Oh stand now, stand by me Stand by me So darling, darling Stand by me, oh stand by me Oh stand now, stand by me, stand by me Whenever you're in trouble won't you stand by me Oh stand by me, won't you stand now, oh, stand Stand by me
Been a Motorhead fan since 1981. I felt this coming, the passing of my hero. But, when I found out I still cried like a baby! Like losing a brother. I LOVE YOU LEMMY!!!
Lost 2 family members to that disease this year... this song was the family entry song to my Ma's service. This exact version. after all my useless brothers left everything up to me....So Lemmy was there................Rock on......................
I love all the covers that Motorhead did. Very potent covers. On top of their own great songs. There will never be another Lemmy. He is greately missed.
Someone once said that if Lemmy covers your song, it will never be yours again. And there is something to it. I haven't heard a bad cover by Lemmy. They were all amazing. Lemmy, I know you're watching us. We miss you.
Roll in Peace !
Awe! My very good friend and country music duo partner! So many memories…. along with being an incredible songwriter and Performer-Long Live the one and only ……the late Lemmy Kilmister - lead singer of the bands: THE HEAD CAT and ……….. MOTÖRHEAD!
Agreed, il isten to this at least two or three times a day and it never ceases to amaze me with how well he nailed this song and made a beautiful masterpiece.
I shed a tear over this comment man thank you. Motorhead especially Lemmy got me through so much bullshit. "Everything louder than everything else." All we are is the love we bring.
Never words spoken so true. So poignant. Lemmy has been there with me through my hardest trials in life through his music. His words made me feel like he knew just how much I've hurt and dealt with heartbreak, and I always felt that he was one man who knew everything I've been through....that he lived through it all. I have found wisdom, encouragement, inspiration and power through his lyrics. Never met before and yet Lemmy has gave me so much support through his words of wisdom. Thank You Lemmy for everything you have given us. You will be missed. BORN TO LOSE LIVE TO WIN
IT'S Hell of a thing dieing, it takes everything you've had and everything your gonna have........ITS coming to US all kid. Paraphrasing Clint in 'The Unforgiven' RIP Lemmy........We Salute You.
Lemmy was a good friend of mine in the 60's --- he was absolutely crazy but we all loved him and were devastated at his passing. For me, this is his very best song.
@@jens1397 Yes - people come and go in your life and get forgotten - no-one in my home town will EVER forget Lemmy (or his best mate Ming). I often wonder what happened to Ming. Stay safe
@jo egleton I'd say you have good memories of lemmy. Would love to have met him. All i have is his music which cheers me up when im down. What a cool guy to have known.
i always will remember i met you in the rainbow club in los angels and we talked of how much we are from israel a big fan of yours ///and you were thrilled by this and punch my shoulder RIP LEMMY KILLMISTER THE MASTER OF HEAVY ROCK AND ROLL
I won't lie. When I saw 'Lemmy - Stand by Me' in my recommended, my first thought Really? That Stand By Me? Maybe a song with the same title. First micro second of the intro and I knew, nope not a different song, it WAS Stand By Me....What can I say, credible version. His vocal style actually lends something to this song. Cheers
Unfortunately, I didn't know about Lemmy until a few months ago after hearing a lot about Motörhead amongst other metalheads. It sucks that I get into bands right after they either break up or a member dies -.- I still haven't heard all their records yet but boy did he had a voice or what. He was the definition of badass. Rip Mr. Lemmy Kilmister. You rule! 🤘
Eventhough I am a classical singer with a good grade of affection with metal I must take hat off to Lemmy. The story telling is something you won't learn in any music school...
Beautiful lyrics delivered in a new version by a man with a beautiful soul who was tough on himself but not on others. A stand up guy - one to look up to.
Everyone should try to be like Lemmy. He wasn't perfect, nobody is. But he was honest, with spine. He stood for his thoughts and beliefs, even if people disliked it. That's becoming very uncommon. Idolizing celebrities can sometimes be a little bit silly, but not when it comes to Lemmy.. He was just such a guy that rhis world needed. Brutally honest.
I agree with everyone here, this is the best version of this song I’ve ever heard. A legendary metal head who showed a different side. This song stays in the back of my mind so often. And mad props for mentioning Flip’s “Extremely Sorry” in the description. Geoff Rowley was a good friend of Lemmy. RIP.
I really wish I could've met this chap. Hope my Dad and Brother can say hello whether that's up or down. Never heard this before so thanks for posting.
Lemmy heaven doesn't want you and hell is afraid you'd take over, we've lost a true artist to the next life. Where ever he went raise a glass to a true legend.
as I drink a jack n coke (a Lemmy as I call her), with a pack of Marlboro reds in front of me. I can honestly say, Lemmy would have loved to see this little video. it's an embodiment of his beautiful soul. as rugged and gritty to the pallet as he was. I can honestly say he'd be honored. and I've never even met the man, wish I had. but in spirit, he's still by us all.
This was my first dance song at my wedding. Every man should be lucky enough to find a woman who will let them play Lemmy as their wedding song ❤
Preferable find a woman who wants it just as much as you do.
Cheers god bless
Congrats brother.
Congrats

Awesome cover....thanks Lemmy for your honest and pure unadulterated rock n roll...RIP
I still can't listen to him sing this, watch the pictures and not bawl my eyes out every time! Love you Lemmy!!! ❤💜🤘
This is Lemmy - warts and all. Thanks for the memories, amigo. Gone, but still with us. Christ, I think I'm gonna start crying ...
Dad died @ 70 years old. He was a radarmen in the U.S.A. Navy. He served from '65 to '69 loved listening to lemmy. R.ip. Dad I miss you
Lost my grandpa July 15th of last year. He was a fire control technician on the USS Kearsage during Korea. RIP to your old man brother
Thanks a lot for his service! I believe the heart of all patriots worldwide will be with you and your dad!
This cover is so incredibly beautiful
70 years though, of living life his way, with little to no regret.
Sad that he's gone, but what a life.
I had tickets to see him ,one day after he quit on stage. Lemmy you were a giant. Long live Motörhead
Fuck Cancer !!!! you will be never forgotten Lemmy we still have your music
fuck all, stand by good music/ppl

He did live a life and a fucking half tho, thats , i guess , the bright side of that...
Lesley Vandenberg a true rock god,now plays in heaven
he is still rockin in heaven!
R.I.P King :'(
+TurPPu I wish he could have stood by us for longer.
He had a long, good life. Rest in peace, Lemmy.
He's with Wurzel and Philty now.
+TurPPu fuck cancer ..
+TurPPu A very sad day
Tomorrow I drink only whisky (maybe adding some coca-cola in it) for honoring the memory of lost king.
+SuperLumipallo yess
we lost a great musician
I can imagine something like a scene from a movie where Lemmy goes to heaven (or hell, he'd be fine with either, probably), he goes to the bar and Joey Ramone's there waiting for him with a bottle of Jack Daniels and a shot glass and says "Damn, what kept ya, Lemmy?". Lemmy smiles and flips him off and has a drink as the screen fades to black while this plays.
He is in Heaven watching over you😊
sad scene...
Nearly cried 🙏🏻
Only LEMMY could spend 70 years on Earth and still leave us like a BURNING BLAZE OF GLORY.....Best individual personality in the entire history of the music business ever to hang a guitar around his neck barr none. I Love him and will honour and cherish his name, work and music for the entirety of my own life.
I think he would have been my best friend if I had known him
I've known him since I was 17 --- he was always CRAZY -- but everybody loved him. And we all miss him.
When the night has come
And the land is dark
And the moon is the only light we'll see
No I won't be afraid
Oh, I won't be afraid
Just as long as you stand, stand by me
So darling, darling
Stand by me, oh stand by me
Oh stand, stand by me
Stand by me
If the sky that we look upon
Should tumble and fall
Or the mountain should crumble to the sea
I won't cry, I won't cry
No, I won't shed a tear
Just as long as you stand, stand by me
And darling, darling
Stand by me, oh stand by me
Oh stand now, stand by me
Stand by me
So darling, darling
Stand by me, oh stand by me
Oh stand now, stand by me, stand by me
Whenever you're in trouble won't you stand by me
Oh stand by me, won't you stand now, oh, stand
Stand by me
Legendary Lemmy
John Lennon does an ace cover
when I listen to this song I'm immediately looking for your profile photo :D
Never gave motorhead a listen or chance in my youth...now my all time favorite!!!
Dan Flory I feel you! I think I missed out.
The song "Dont Lie To Me" eats me alive but in a good way:) Its probably my favorite Motorhead song ever! The Lyric version is deep AF
I'm sorry to hear about that give my condolences to the parents in the fellow members the band members I always pray for him no matter what
Hellou from finland ❣️ i loven this lemmy version... On my playlist 👍... Gives really warm feeling....
WE WILL ALWAYS STAND BY YOU, LEMMY !
Oh, yes. We will
forever !
He sings from his soul. One of the greatest..
He sings it with such an emotion. RIP

I'm Watching
Rock N Roll hasn't died yet because we've still got Metallica, Slipknot and the returning AC/DC
Guy was genius at covering songs, and I love him for his work.
I'll stand by you forever Lemmy and sing every word to every song whenever I hear the most famous voice of rock and roll
Fuck this brought tears to my eyes. Never had the honour of actually meeting him, but saw him several times, and will remember this Legend forever.
Awe! My very good friend and country music duo partner!
So many memories…. along with being an incredible songwriter and Performer-Long Live the one and only ……the late Lemmy Kilmister - lead singer of the bands:
THE HEAD CAT and ……….. MOTÖRHEAD!
wow ...would not have expected this... goes actually very well together.
lemmy showing some sensitivity
As someone who has more of Lemmy movies than Lemmy Kilmister records I love his covers of songs just as much as the original songs that he preformed
Danke, Lemmy! Danke für Deine Musik. Und Deine Art das Leben zu leben.

We raise our glasses to You, Lemmy. Greetings from Finland.
I've always loved this song, and Lemmy just made it a 1000 times more fucking awesome.
Like he does everything he covers. Sympathy for the Devil.....I love Rolling Stones, but........ Lemmy's cover is BRILLIANT!!! Just to name ONE!
Agreed, il isten to this at least two or three times a day and it never ceases to amaze me with how well he nailed this song and made a beautiful masterpiece.
Lenny Dear You are always on my mind. Thank you Maestro! Love will never die.
miss that bugger - had some great times at Motorhead shows , met Lemmy a few times , just a normal brilliant guy

Lemmy is unconditional love.
Se fue el trueno del rock pero vive en a aquellos quien lo siente en el alma Motörhead forever ahora hay voice un the sky mas mandy mothorhead

He truly loved performing for the fans. He was taken from us, now it is our responsibility to ensure that his music carries on forever.
IT'S Hell of a thing dieing, it takes everything you've had and everything your gonna have........ITS coming to US all kid.
Paraphrasing Clint in 'The Unforgiven' RIP Lemmy........We Salute You.
One of the last gods of rock. Such a sad loss. This cover is so cool to hear.
Lemmy was a good friend of mine in the 60's --- he was absolutely crazy but we all loved him and were devastated at his passing. For me, this is his very best song.
What awesome memories you must have of him 🙂🙂

Lemmy: The Johnny Cash of metal music.
The Man in Black indeed.
I won't lie. When I saw 'Lemmy - Stand by Me' in my recommended, my first thought
Really?
You rule! 🤘
Lemmy, your music saved my life. May you rest in peace.
This song is a shining example of the true musical talent that was lost when Lemmy died.
im listenning this song,, and i have a couple of tears ,,, RIP LEMMY!!!! you are the best!!!!
Seeing a hard drinking, drug using, badass metal frontman singing something as chill and peaceful as this song.. Fucking amazing!!!
Eventhough I am a classical singer with a good grade of affection with metal I must take hat off to Lemmy. The story telling is something you won't learn in any music school...
My favorite version of my favorite song. No one sang it better.
Dude, this is like the best cover I've heard of this song
God damn Lemmy you are missed, I was at the rainbow on Saturday and couldn’t stop picturing you sitting there.
The softer side of Lemmy is still Badass
Absolute legend. Thanks. His Hawkwind days were awesome!
Beautiful lyrics delivered in a new version by a man with a beautiful soul who was tough on himself but not on others. A stand up guy - one to look up to.
crying my eyes out...you are missed
:(
i love you
You sure as fuck ain't alone. R.I.P. Lemmy.
The world is a sadder place without Lemmy. But we should celebrate his greatness always!
один из лучших фронтменов всех времен
the years are running but LEGENDS never never DIE
Everyone should try to be like Lemmy.
He wasn't perfect, nobody is. But he was honest, with spine. He stood for his thoughts and beliefs, even if people disliked it. That's becoming very uncommon.
Idolizing celebrities can sometimes be a little bit silly, but not when it comes to Lemmy..
He was just such a guy that rhis world needed. Brutally honest.
Um dos últimos Alfas do mundo do rock. Vai fazer falta demais.
Almost adds a sense of desperation to it, it's amazing how Lemmy takes a voice that shouldn't work and just makes it.
Great song, great interpretation from Lemmy, great book from S. King 🙂, great film!!
Amazing... Best cover ever... Love lemmy
Lemmy you're the Ace of Spades and the Game dude you're God and everything else. R.I.P. Lemmy your music lives on in so many ways.
This is why Lemmy is fucking amazing. He is in a metal band, but does covers like this and Louie louie because he sticks to his roots
amazing, amazing, amazing.... a very beautiful performance of Lemmy !
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LEMMY....
YOU ARE MISSED!❤
Leave it to Lemmy to take a good song and make it fucking amazing
What do you mean amazing? Amazing is still not high enough praise for this.
Lemmy heaven doesn't want you and hell is afraid you'd take over, we've lost a true artist to the next life. Where ever he went raise a glass to a true legend.
Lemmy was a big fan of 50s rock'n'roll and Rockabilly. One of the reasons us guys in the psychobilly/ rockabilly scene respect Motothead 💕
Lemmy is a good man, a great artist and he will always stay a legend in the big book of rock'n'roll.
Recently got into lemmy. Had no idea I needed this song in my life. What a brilliant revelation!
Guy could sing almost about anything well. What’s a legend !!! The real organsmatron 🤘🏻rock the heavens lemmy
I agree and love him too
... but he was known for having a shitty voice
Orgasmatron maybe?
Who or what is an organsmatron? With or without this shit 🤟🏻.

Also what’s a legend is a question!!!
One hell of a singer there ever was in heavy metal and he did amazing with this song as good as the original singer rest in peace Lenny
as I drink a jack n coke (a Lemmy as I call her), with a pack of Marlboro reds in front of me. I can honestly say, Lemmy would have loved to see this little video. it's an embodiment of his beautiful soul. as rugged and gritty to the pallet as he was. I can honestly say he'd be honored. and I've never even met the man, wish I had. but in spirit, he's still by us all.
Even though he’s passed, Lemmy can still outdrink every single one of us.
RIP Lemmy.
