I just scheduled my initial consultation today. I've wanted to do this for most of my life and I'm really grateful to have found your video so I feel more prepared. Thank you!
I’m 3 days post op. No pain, bruising or tenderness. Just a bit itchy. I was afraid of the anesthesia but I don’t even remember the countdown. I was out like a light and what seemed like 1 second back in recovery. So far I’m very happy with my surgery and the recovery process.
Thank you for sharing. It's helpful for others to read. So happy for your experience so far. If your surgeon gives you, the OK, Benadryl can help with the itching. It will make you a little sleepy, however. Thinking of you and sending you healing vibes.❤️
I think it makes a difference when we get liposuction a long with reduction. I’m 2 and half weeks post op. I have tenderness and soreness especially in the morning.
@@arymhansieidk if this was directed to me but I was healed in three weeks but I’ve been treating the scars for about 6 months. I’m using scar tape and using scar gel.
I was very lucky-no swelling no difficulty with bras . I used lululemon bras because they do not cut into the incisions. I slept on my back without any pillows. I was happy to have the breast size I once had at age 13.
I have mine 6 weeks from today, and this is one of the most helpful and reassuring videos I’ve watched. I’m definitely nervous, but I’m more excited than I am nervous. I can’t wait!

I just had mine yesterday and when I got home, there is alot of blood in the right side dressing. Call on call doctor said it is normal as long as no swelling or pain 😢
Good job on calling the doctor. Take photos! That way you can always send them to your surgeon or their team. Sometimes it's hard to explain what "a lot" of blood is. This way they can ease your mind.❤️
My surgery is scheduled for 10/12/2022. Thankfully, my insurance is going to cover the cost! I did have to show a history of issues, which included PT multiple times.
It's interesting to hear how it is done now. I had breast reduction surgery about 27 years ago. I had surgery, had the drain tubes, got out of the hospital the next day, took the next day off work, then went back to work. Three days off and I felt great. I am 5'0" and have significant scoliosis, and I walk on crutches due to a birth defect. My surgery was deemed medically necessary due to terrible shoulder pain and how short I was, and my disability. The shoulder pain was gone immediately after surgery. My doc did have to write a letter to the insurance company outlining why it was medically necessary as he was not able to take a full pound of tissue off each side. I don't know if it is the same now, but then, you had to have 1 lb taken off each side for it to be covered by insurance, and it was covered. I don't remember having really any pain, until the incisions really started healing. I remember shooting nerve pains across the incisions, and the itching was terrible. But I never needed pain meds or ice or anything. Best, easiest surgery I have ever had - and I've had dozens and dozens of surgeries.
Thank you for sharing your story. It's helpful for others to hear. I'm glad your surgery went well. Every surgery and person is different but it sounds like you had an ideal recovery.❤️
My osteopath in the rehab/neuro/pain clinic in a hospital referred me to MGH the very next day! Yes!! Mass General! I called the #1 private plastic surgeon who doesn’t take insurance & his office highly recommended a colleague at the Lahey hospital. Got a referral for a consult with him from my DO. 2 consultations covered!!! My insurance is covering it. My back & rib cage are hurting me so badly that as a massage therapist I have been treating myself & developed tendonitis. I also have thoracic outlet syndrome. I was referred to my DO by my neuro bc of my TN. I love my neuro, but I didn’t want to see her bc I KNEW it wasn’t neuropathy & I didn’t want to be put on gabapentin etc..or referred to a psychiatrist for a tricyclic. You immediately gain weight on gabapentin. I highly recommend seeing a DO who does manual therapy Or Physiatrist in a hospital. DOs are the best! I’d CHECK for chronic TOC that can’t be treated as a reason for a reduction. A patient is so weighed down by their breasts they can’t function properly that’s a real reason!
I worked out more before my surgery. I optimized my fitness with cardio and weights. The surgery went well, and im healing very well. I also upped my protein before and after surgery to promote wound healing.
Thank you for this video. I am hopefully having reduction soon if my insurance approves it. I feel so hideous at 42DDD. I hope he makes me B again like I was for the first 30 years of my life. Steroid injections twice blue me up and they never went back to previous size. I have shoulder ridges, rash under neath, neck and back pain. I have had to change jobs because of the pain. I'm tired of my chest running my life. I never wanted them to start with. Night breast has nothing to do with being a woman, for me. I'm ready for better points in time.

I have watched this helpful video many times for my breast reduction a week ago! I wondered if you can provide 2-3 post surgery bra brands that aren't too thin and have cotton fabric. My research is coming up short. I am still quite swollen on the sides. Most likely went from a 38G/H to 36D when everything settles down. Welcome bra advice (nothing too compressing or lacking any support.
Your videos have been extremely helpful. I even purchased your ebook. I am one month out from my surgery date and some days I get a little nervous/anxiety. Do you have any recommendations on how to manage the anxiety ?
I appreciate your feedback and I'm so glad my videos were helpful. Congratulations on surgery being behind you. I'm sorry to hear about your anxiety. Is this related to a complete recovery or your result?
@@kellygreytokrn let me rephrase that. My surgery is next month, Jan 26. I’m anxious about the surgery itself being that I’ve never had surgery. My fear revolves around anesthesia and rather or not there would be complications during the surgery.
Oh I am so glad you said this- I apologize. Please email me privately and we can talk more about this but one thing you can do is reach out to your surgeons office and asked to speak with the anesthesiologist. They usually call you the night before surgery - but a conversation before this will probably be helpful for you.
Outstanding video!! I needed this. I’m 2 weeks out reduction with liposuction. Was told I needed to start massage, I have some hardness on the sides. Any suggestions for how to do this?
Thanks for your video, it's been really helpful. I'm in week 3, post op. I bought a wedge pillow on your recommendation. How long do you suggest to be sleeping elevated like this? My back and neck and shoulders really ache now from sleeping poorly on my back unfortunately and even though my surgeon has prescribed sleeping pills, I'd rather not take them. Any thoughts?
This is usually nerves waking back up... it won't last I promise! And a call to your surgeons staff so they can calm your fears would be totally appropriate 👍🏼
Yes absolutely. I will be proactive starting day one. Even if you just begin with prunes, high fiber foods, and then move to laxative teas and stool softener, etc.
After many, many years of discomfort and now severe pain, I hope to be getting surgery done early next year. I appreciate your advice. I need to get back to my healthy, low sugar diet. I’m in Texas, have you found a big difference in fees for this surgery depending on location?
I'm glad to hear you are getting back to healthy. Yes, there is a very large discrepancy on the cost of plastic surgery that is dependent on the state.
I am 3 days post op. No drains. But the compression bra they put me in is so tight and uncomfortable and i feel breathing constriction. Can i switch to a very tight sports bra?
I had a breast reduction 2 weeks ago and as of yesterday I notice my left breast is more soft and the right is pretty hard, also the dr did a minor liposuction around the armpit area where that little fat is , but my arms are still so sore and stiff and in pain and also feel a little lump and bump in that area, I heard it’s normal after a liposuction,I want to know when will the pain go away around my arms and how can I get rid of the lumpyness ?
Thank you for your question. I hope you have checked in with your surgeon about this. Do not massage unless cleared to do so by your surgeon. This can definitely resolve but you want to check in with them as they know what kind of procedure was done.
So I have an adjustable bed would you still recommend a wedge pillow ? Also the bras they had me buy are sport’s bras. I feel they have light support and no compression. Should I worry about that? I have mine in one week.
Great questions. You do not need a wedge pillow although I do find that the wedge pillow is better for keeping you upright. Sometimes with the bed you have a tendency to slip down so make sure your feet are elevated or put a pillow under your knees. Some surgeons don't want compression on your breasts after surgery. I would ask. Great questions! I hope you have a great recovery😊
Love this video! I’m two weeks post-op. Some of my steri-strips are coming off, I’m wondering if it would be okay to just peel them all off lol and if so what’s the pain level like?!
I'm glad you loved it. 😊OK first things first. You always always want to check with your doctor about removing anything but normally your surgeon will want you to trim back the little ends of the Steri-Strips that are coming off with clean scissors. Don't just pull them off completely. When you were asking about pain level, what are you referring to? The pain of having no Steri-Strips?
Thanks for this video, I’m 10 days past, my stitches are off my doctor left one , what should I do? He also said to change my tepees every 5 days , can I put Vaseline over the tapes to keep it moist?
I had 7lbs taken off. No drains. And the sewing on one breast is different than the other. My left is neat and tidy and doesn't hurt. My right looks like a trussed up pork roast. I wasn't really told anything when I left other than no showers for a week. It was another yt channel that told me to use a healing ointment. I'm using Cerave.
Can i take anxiety pills while recovering after the surgery?? I dont have chronic anxiety but certain things make me very anxious and one time ihad an anxiety attack so Im scared of that
You just have to be careful you don't combined the anti-anxiety medication's with narcotics. Some surgeons will even prescribe you medication for anxiety. Just make sure to be extra careful.
I would like to have this surgery, but I'm so scared when I'm waking up, because after my tummy tuck surgery I was gasping for air. I don't know why. Do you know why? Does insurance pay for this kind of surgery?
Yes insurance do pay iam Doing mines on the 5th of December 2023 u just have to have a history of back issue and other things! And honestly when u said about the breathing for air scared me cause that’s all I keep thinking about 🥹
Can you do a video of post op massage for breasts after drains come out. I have had some swelling and leaking and was advised to massage a min of five times a day five min each time. I am on week three.
Unfortunately, every surgeon has different requirements on what this massage would look like. I hope they gave you very specific instructions. I also hope you're doing well!
Great question. Flying is not really the problem. As long as you've got someone to help you with your bags. Try not to overdo it once you are at your destinations. You still should be laying low.❤️
I think that depends on how you are feeling and what you will be doing at the event. You will probably not be cleared to exercise yet so it shouldn't be something very active.😊
I had breast reduction surgery. It was a nightmare. After my breast being extremely infected and full of pus. After that explanation I was left with a dog ear. It is the size of a golf ball. Will a doctor repair this with twightlight procedure? How do I find a doctor that will do this? I don’t want to go back to my original surgeon.
Is it true that the bigger your breasts are the more expensive it is and the slower it takes for you to recover? I am a 32 FF, am thinking of a breast reduction but an petrified.
Great question, This is absolutely not true. Now, it may take a little longer to heal if your surgery is more extensive, but this is not necessarily related to the size of your breasts before surgery. 😊. I would consult with a few surgeons. Collecting some information will be helpful and lessen than your fears.
You will wear it night and day for 6 weeks. Then wearing it just at night for another 6 weeks. That's why it's good to have at least a few bras and if any aren't comfortable just replace them 😊
My Surgery is next July 7th I can’t wait but I’m scared that if I had baby in future my breast will become bigger again can somebody tell me about that Sorry for my English
l have most of my life suffered from the pain of bra straps due to trying to fit one breast that is bigger then the other. Not to mention the marks under my bra that also cause pain. l am now in my late 60's and would benefit so much from breast reduction, but think that l am to old. What can you tell me about age!
I have recovered dozens of women in their 60s who are having breast reductions, tummy, tucks, facelifts ...all of it. They only regret is that they waited so long. I actually find my patients in this age. Group do the best because they are more compliant and have more discomfort tolerance. ❤️
I had breast reduction surgery last Wednesday, 7/12, and I am experiencing much pain with and without wearing a bra. I am wearing a bra that provides more support for shaping the breasts. When I wear a bigger size bra, I experience less pain and, of course, less support. Should I just suck it up, deal with the pain, and let the breast do their thing? Is the pain a sign of healing, or am I damaging the breasts? I went for the post-op checkup, and the NP said everything looked good and to continue to take the Tylenol, which is not helping for the most part. I can deal with the pain (about an 8), but I'd don't want to hinder the healing process.
I go next week - CANNOT wait! Insurance is paying. This is a 50 year dream of mine.
I would love an update!
How did you get insurance pay for this ?
My plan covered it because it was considered medically necessary. After my initial consultation, my surgeon submitted pictures and whatever else they needed and they approved it. This is usually nerves waking back up... it won't last I promise! And a call to your surgeons staff so they can calm your fears would be totally appropriate 👍🏼
I wish I saw your blog before
Thanks for watching. I have tons more content on IG.
I keep seeing things about constipation following general anaesthetic.... is this to be expected?
Yes absolutely. I will be proactive starting day one. Even if you just begin with prunes, high fiber foods, and then move to laxative teas and stool softener, etc.
Dulcolax 😊
After many, many years of discomfort and now severe pain, I hope to be getting surgery done early next year. I appreciate your advice. I need to get back to my healthy, low sugar diet. I’m in Texas, have you found a big difference in fees for this surgery depending on location?
I'm glad to hear you are getting back to healthy. Yes, there is a very large discrepancy on the cost of plastic surgery that is dependent on the state.
Had my surgery on October 16 drains taken out yesterday 😊
Very good video!
Thank you very much!
Thank you🙏
You’re welcome 😊
Thank you for this video. How long should I sleep elevated?
You are welcome. The typical recommendation is 2 weeks😊
Mine is in a week I’m stressed out I hate surgery. How do I get relax myself also I’m afraid to have a panic attack after the reduction
@@kellygreytokrn oh thank you 😊 and the pain level of having the steri-strips removed. Some started to fall off this morning.
Thanks for this video, I’m 10 days past, my stitches are off my doctor left one , what should I do? He also said to change my tepees every 5 days , can I put Vaseline over the tapes to keep it moist?
I had mine 3 days ago I feel awful pain back pain head turning feeling nauseous 7/24 corset make it worse I can’t breathe normally 😭
How do u feel now 🙏🏻
Mine was covered by insurance. Surprisingly I didn't have to have any history of back pain or problems.
I'm using Cerave.
my bedroom is up 14-18 steps on a second floor, my surgery is tommorow is it okay for me to go up the stairs when i get home and just stay upstairs?
Great question…. YES! You will be fine… just take it slow. I’ll be thinking of you and sending you healing thoughts😊
Mines will be covered by insurance. I know 5 others who was paid by insurance.
I had my breast reduction 3 days ago.. still struggling..how do i was.my hair
Are you okay? I hope that you are in no pain.
I’m planning to get it done but not sure by who😢
I would recommend at least three consultations!
Yes insurance do pay iam
Doing mines on the 5th of December 2023 u just have to have a history of back issue and other things! And honestly when u said about the breathing for air scared me cause that’s all I keep thinking about 🥹
Will my breast forever be numb? Nipples are fine but the rest of my breast is numb. It’s been 9 months with no signs of my nerves rejuvenating.
It should not last forever. It's a great question for your surgeon as they know the specifics on the technique they used.
After the operation , how long should we rest without going to work
That depends on what you do for work and what surgery you are having!😊
@@kellygreytokrn how long did you rest without going out of the house??
I just had my surgery this past Monday..But I am noticing swelling and the drain is slowing down
.Is all that good
Swelling is normal, and the drain fluid will get less and less each day. But if you have any worries, don't hesitate to reach out to your surgeon.👍🏼
I am scheduled to have breast reduction surgery on 7/12. Will it be too soon to go on a scheduled trip which involves flying on 7/27?
Great question. Flying is not really the problem. As long as you've got someone to help you with your bags. Try not to overdo it once you are at your destinations. You still should be laying low.❤️
My friend is disables with m s can't walk ,anything extra she should know?
Can I go to an event 14 days after surgery?
I think that depends on how you are feeling and what you will be doing at the event. You will probably not be cleared to exercise yet so it shouldn't be something very active.😊
@@kellygreytokrn it won’t be active! It’ll be a concert with seating!
I don’t care if I end up w a nipple on my chin. I just want these things gone 😂😂😂😂
I know what you mean. I'm Day 1 post op
I am so sorry to hear this. Yes sometimes they will do this under twighlight. Begin with a few consults.
A week ago l have pain swelling tenderness
Bless your heart your blessed
How are you doing now?
How long after surgery will you be wearing the bra? and is it all the time except showers (like sleep in it and everything) ?
You will wear it night and day for 6 weeks. Then wearing it just at night for another 6 weeks. That's why it's good to have at least a few bras and if any aren't comfortable just replace them 😊
@@CharleyCharlez ok thank you!
Yes, back up bra is always a good idea. And your surgeon will tell you exactly how long to where the bra. Every surgeon difference on this.
How can I contact you
My surgery is this week
Awesome
My Surgery is next July 7th I can’t wait but I’m scared that if I had baby in future my breast will become bigger again can somebody tell me about that Sorry for my English
This is an important question to discuss with your surgeon. Great question….Happy healing Ingabire
l have most of my life suffered from the pain of bra straps due to trying to fit one breast that is bigger then the other.
My consultation legit asked if I had pain and like 5 other questions, took pics of my boobs, sent to insurance, then it was approved LOL
Oh my gosh! I wish it was this easy for everyone. Cheers to you.🩵🩵🩵
What happen wish the nopes,is pain too why
Can someone with a pacemaker have breast symmetry surgery
Yes, you will require cardiac clearance of course, but I would have some consultations to make a plan with your surgeon.
The military pays , takes close to 2 years
Good to know- thank you!
