    Yesss! Great video...I just graduated nursing school and my iPad Pro 12.9 & pencil was the best investment I made in my education. I got it my last year and wish I would’ve gotten it sooner. I’m still using it now to study nclex & hopefully soon for grad school. Its so convenient I slept with mine and used it in bed when I woke up at night I just studied.

    Really having a hard time deciding between an iPad Air (4) 64gb with the magic keyboard and pencil or the solo 256. My budget is tight, but I’ll get the education discount. The difference between the 256 air and 128 pro is like $50. But the 64 air would give me room for accessories and no waiting. I sold my MacBook Air laptop to make this happen. I have a desktop iMac I rarely use.
    Main use for iPad will be writing papers, web browsing, email, bit of zoom, media consumption and streaming, reading, editing photos, note taking and light drawing. Playing some games on Apple Arcade. It will be my first iPad in many years and I’m really excited.
    What would you do? Is 64gb enough?

    • @EvolvingMedic
      @EvolvingMedic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      That’s a great question. For me personally, I would go with the 256, even if it meant sacrificing the keyboard and pencil (you can always get these later). The 64gb model may just narrowly suffice for medical school (downloading PowerPoints, taking notes, etc.). But it will be close, especially as you progress through school. The way that I personally think of it is: you can always get the accessories later, but you won’t be as easily able to change models.
      Again, this is just my own thoughts and it will ultimately depend on your preferences and budget. You can definitely make it with the 64gb model, especially if you don’t want to keep old notes. I hope this helps and either way you’re going to love your new iPad!

    • @licornemagique7534

    I’m studying for mcat and my handwriting is creating an issue for me.... I may have to go this route but I wonder how writing on iPad could reduce simple errors while keeping up with my pace

    • @EvolvingMedic
      @EvolvingMedic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I also suffer from sub-optimal handwriting lol. But I have found that writing on the iPad actually produces more legible script than writing with pencil and paper! It also offers immediate color changing and highlighting tools of you like to do that as well. And this could help with your pace. If you do choose to check out the iPad let me know what you think in terms of writing on it! The paper-like screen protector may also interest you as it gives you the pen and paper feel to writing. I hope this helps!

      That’s a great point! And definitely a fair complaint. For me personally I also have a Mac and use that for most things so I actually don’t need to split the screen on my iPad much. But if I only had an iPad I definitely would have gotten the larger model.

    If I'm only planning on taking notes and using online textbooks on my ipad, would 64gb be sufficient or would going 256gb be better for a 5 year med school programme??

    • @EvolvingMedic
      @EvolvingMedic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you are planning on downloading books, the 64gb model may be pushing it a bit. It is definitely manageable though if the cost is the main concern. But the 256gb model would be a safer bet, especially if you end up using it for other things (note taking apps, etc.).

      I think it depends on if you’d like the versatile and mobility of an iPad, or the slightly increased functionality of a laptop. I would also check with your school to make sure they aren’t giving you a laptop (some provide them for their students).

    Heyyy love your channel could you help me decide if I should get an Ipad mini so that I can carry it with me during rotations later on in 3rd-5th year (not sure if an ipad mini is completely necessary lmk) or an Ipad pro/ regular Ipad for studying now (I'm in the last semester of 1st year rn 4/6 blocks almost done)?

    • @EvolvingMedic

      Hey! I personally would lean toward the iPad Pro because you can do more with it. I think a smart phone would suffice during rotations so I personally would focus more on what device you can do the most with. I hope this helps!

    Can it really handle all presentations and notes for all 5 years of my medicine school and is it really accessible! To like reach every lecture like how the laptop provides

    • @EvolvingMedic
      @EvolvingMedic  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! This will depend on storage, similar to the laptop. Some students (like myself) don’t download all lectures and eventually delete most of the ones I do download lol. But other students like to have all lectures downloaded and you can definitely do this with the iPad! I just recommend getting a ton of storage (at least the 256gb model). And it is extremely accessible. I think that’s why so many students like it. It’s easy to take everywhere and you can essentially get everything out of it that you would a full laptop. I hope this helps!

    Now that campus will probably be in person are you going to take your MacBook & iPad to campus? I’m trying to decide between the 12.9 and 11 inch.. I have a MacBook Air, I’m not necessarily trying to replace it but it would be nice if when I’m on campus I only need one device that’s sufficient. Such a hard decision lol.

    • @EvolvingMedic
      @EvolvingMedic  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! I only bring my iPad when I go to campus. My Mac essentially stays on my desk at home 😊

    • @kamaragurl
      @kamaragurl 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For the purposes of using/studying with solely the iPad on campus do you think the 11inch is sufficient or do you wish you would have gotten the bigger size?

    • @EvolvingMedic
      @EvolvingMedic  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 11” has been perfect for me. I love the size. I personally use a monitor/Mac setup at home and only my iPad when I am away from home (or working from the couch lol). So if it were my primary computer I may have considered going up in size, but even then, I think the 11” could work very well

    @Kencan254 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I beg to differ. Microsoft Surface Pro series is a much better product. Unlike iPad, Surface Pro comes with factory installed kickstand that enables me takes notes ergonomically. Most of the softwares used at my school are optimised for Windows OS. The possibility of losing your stylus on Surface Pro X is nearly zero because the pen stores and charges on the key board: th-cam.com/video/v5SFBpMiaiQ/w-d-xo.html

    • @EvolvingMedic
      @EvolvingMedic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great question James. A lot of it is student loans, especially if you don’t have a source of income. That’s why I think if people have choices when they’re applying, to really value differences in scholarship offers. But with expected salaries after training, many students who I have talked to do not worry about paying off loans
