Zac calling Gary is probably another one of Zac’s impulsive non thought out decisions that he’ll look at Fatima when it goes awry and Zac will ask what’s wrong as she walks away because she knows that she told Zac that Gary was being investigated by the FBI.
I think this call is because based on what Fatima told him, he's regretting his decision to work with Gary and Jake/Bryce in the first place. So whatever problem comes Gary's way, it would harm Zac business as well. But I don't think Zac is into any shady deals, and if he is, most likely he doesn't know about it
