Thank you Michelle! I will build the house, but I need a few months to finish my current project first. That will give me some time to prepare the project too. 😃
I loved your exhibit. Absolutely gorgeous. I love all things thread and fabric. I have far more than I'll ever use. I hope to teach my granddaughter to quilt. She's 18 months so we have time. There is something wonderful about the new colors. Especially the organically dyed. I love your knitting. Wonderful. It is nice having a minature on the work desk. I usually have a minature picture yet to be framed. Last week I found my 12th scale baby. So she's crawling around the desk tool cabinet. Thank you for you!
Oh I love that you'll be teaching your granddaughter to quilt one day! It will be a precious time between the two of you, plus you'll be teaching her skills like sewing, designing and working with colour. 😃
Your videos bring such beauty into my life. Was so sad when you thought you had lost the bobbins and the lace. And so happy when you had found them! They are really special! Thank you for sharing your talents and wonderful miniatures with all of us.
You are so welcome! Yes, I was very happy to see the lace stuck to the side of my basket. I have no idea how it got there but I'm glad I still have it. 😃
I'm so happy you found the lace and bobbins. I once thought I'd lost a whole collection of museum quality miniatures after a move and was beside myself with despair until I found it. I love watching you work.
Oh wow! I can just imagine how you felt when you thought you lost those miniatures! We were both lucky to find our treasures again. Thank you Desiree! 😃
I love all your videos, I always learn something, use of tools, as well as another Dutch word or two😊 So to see you build a house from scratch would be right up my 'miniature street' so to speak😅 yes please!
Your room boxes look so lovely! So glad you found the MIA pieces - such a relief! Those pastel colors are incredible! They’re “my” favorite colors tooI I cannot fathom making such tiny granny squares - amazing! The taps are great! The wooden ring clamp is new to me - what a fabulous tool to have! I’ll be looking into that! Such a treasure of a vintage book! I so hope you do build the dollhouse it includes. It would be such wonderful and instructive to watch you build! You are so talented! Every video of yours is truly a joy! Thank you! ❤Kathleen
Thank you so much Kathleen! Yes, I was so happy when I spotted the lace hanging off the side of my basket! I will build the house in the book. I do need a few months to finish my current project first though! That will give me some time to do research too 😉
I love your room box of baskets. It isn't as grand as the others but equal in quality. Its my favorite. I love the daily things in minature that stands the test of time. Baskets now, baskets 1000 years ago. The practical items in minature like your yellow rubber gloves, I just love.
I love that one too. As did my friend who came to see me at the show. And yes, I love baskets. These mundane, practical items seem to take on an extra charm in miniature. 😃
Great video to watch Josje, I am so happy that the exhibition went well for you, and thanks for naming that tool, fascinating book and pleased you found the bobbins and lace too, tfs x Julie 🇬🇧
Another wonderful video! The show looks wonderful. I'm happy to be going to one next month. The threads are gorgeous, I love the muted colours. I'm going to check into the clamp it looks particularly useful. Glad you found your lace piece. My Mom knew how to do this beautiful work (full size), I still have some of her original bobbins, and nope, I didn't learn, which is too bad. However, I did turn some mini bobbins and made the pillow and stand for my mini house. My Belgian grandmother was an expert lace maker. I have a roll of her lace which, sadly is yellowing because of age. I'm not sure what to do with it. Your taps turned out so beautiful. Thanks again.
Thank you Urbania! How wonderful to still have the lace roll your grandmother made! Maybe you can gently wash it with mild soap, ox gall or some other mild fabric cleaner. Is it wrapped around cardboard or paper? That may cause yellowing. I tried lacemaking but found it difficult to hold and manage the bobbins. I love watching others do it though. 😃
Thank you Josje, your videos are always so diverse, unpredictable and never boring 👏👏. So glad you found your lace and bobbins! That ring holder tool looks very interesting, will see if it is available here, of course everything is twice as expensive down under🥴
Glad you like them Coby, thank you! I'm sure you can get the wooden ring clamp where you are. Or else there is Temu, where I've also seen them for around 5 euros. Shipping is often free from there. 😃
I was so happy you found the lace and bobbins ... What a lost treasure that would have been. 1:24 scale...interesting. I would love to follow along and see the challenge of that scale. 😊
Yes, I was so relieved when I spotted it on the side of my basket! As for the house, I know it will be a challenge for me. I never worked in 24th scale before! 😃
Hello Josje, the taps look marvellous, they remind my of my childhood when our taps came out of the wall above a butler sink with a wooden draining board, they didn't look as fancy as yours though lol. When I was very little my Mum used to lay me on the draining board and wash my hair in the sink. The thread colours are beautiful, and your granny squares look great. The tool was interesting, ive not seen one like that before. I'm glad you found the tiny lace, it's so delicate and pretty. The book looks fascinating, I love old books, especially the smell of them 😊, I might have a look and see if I could find a copy. I think building the house ftom it would be a lovely project to follow. Have a lovely weekend, (it's a bank holiday here on Monday, I don't know if you have the same one over there.) Best Wishes from Yorkshire, England 🇬🇧 😊
Thank you so much Diane! Nope, just a regular Monday here this week ;) What lovely memories of you and your Mum, washing your hair in the sink! We all love modern conveniences, but such memories are great! Unfortunately, I can't find the name of the writer or the publisher of the English book. It just mentions the English title in the preface, "Home Mechanic". It does mention that the different chapters would have been published in 32 episodes, so maybe the English version was published as leaflets or magazine articles. I really don't know. If you can find it, I'd love to hear about it! 😃
This was so much fun! So many many things happening! I think I have to work backwards… I would love to see you make that doll house. And I’m so happy that you found your tiny beautiful piece of lace! I knew that you would! And those beautiful spools of thread, oh my, those colors are scrumptious! I am so amazed that you are able to do those Tiny crocheted squares. They are so lovely and I cannot wait to see them made into a blanket. And I am still giggling that the woman thought you were going to make a full-size blanket out of crocheted squares even smaller than your finger nail 😂 And a lot of the taps that you made for your kitchen. Just gorgeous! You were clearly the belle of the ball at that event. I’m glad that you got to meet so many nice people, including one of us. I think that would be one of the very nicest surprises ever. What kind of tea do you drink? Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful vlog with us!
Thank you so much Jen! It was a fun event. Very small but enjoyable. I loved seeing the work of other local artists. When you think about it, most of us have no idea what our neighbours or people local to us make. Apparently, another miniaturist who lives very close to me makes miniature ceramics! I had no idea. I hope to meet her one of these days. I'm drinking a mixture of organic Earl Grey green tea and Rooibos. It's a very nice mixture! 😃
@@MakeMiniatures It must be nice tea because you were making little yummy noises when you drank it. I like rooibos very much, and I have had a lot of earl gray but only the black. Not Earl Grey green. I will have to look around. I can’t believe you have someone who lives very close to you who makes miniature ceramics, there must be something in the water in your area. Hello Dale! Yes, the lever is for pumping the water. This pump and the taps are based on 17th- and 18th-century ones. The rooms I am currently building are based on 17th and 18th-century examples, so no modern conveniences. They often had large rainwater reservoirs in the cellars. The pump in the kitchen was connected to the reservoir, so they always had clean water in the kitchen. 😃
