  • Peat & Diesel formed to play in their local pub in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis, but instead sparked ‘Peatlemania’, growing an army of devoted fans across the UK. The award winning three piece have now sold out gigs across the UK, include Glasgow’s legendary Barrowland Ballroom. But who are Peat & Diesel - and why did they get so big?

Saw them at this year’s Fairport’s Cropredy Convention. I had a wee tot of Famous Grouse with one of their fans down at the front. A great set. I’ll certainly be keeping an eye out for them in the future.

Peat & Deisel - Boydie - "I don't know why we are here, we're not even a punk band" - Empress Ballroom, Rebellion Punk Festival, Blackpool 2023... I'm sure they now have at least 3000 more fans than they had when they got out their beds that morning... Awesome show lads 😎🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I love you so much, even though I can't understand a word you're saying! Do you have a record I can buy, or that you can send me, and I'll send you a cheque? If you ever come to Halifax, Nova Scotia, please reserve me a seat, front and center! If I can't manage the steps (I'm old), please come and visit me at my house.

Boydie can’t sing in the same way as Mick Jagger can’t sing, and he’s probably the greatest front man ever. It’s called the X factor, nothing like the tv show

I do. I'm a 66yo Scot who listens to a broad array of music from avantgarde classical to rock to oompah stuff to world music. I find Peat & Diesel great because they produce quirky footstomping music based on traditional tunes and rhythms and don't take themselves too seriously. So if people my age are listening to them and people who could be my grandkids are too, then they've struck a chord somewhere.
